David Novak and his crew are extremely professional and detail oriented. Their finish work is top notch and they do what they promise. David gave us a detailed estimate for all the work described above. His bid was not the cheapest, but it covered each detail he wanted to accomplish, which included lots of sanding and then multiple coats of enamel (on the woodwork) and finish (on the cabinets), with sanding between each coat. David emphasizes sanding between coats for a perfect finish and he was right - the finish on our cabinets and enameled woodwork is superb. David and Francisco are both incredibly good finish painters and you can hardly see brushstrokes on their enameling work. There were a total of 5 people on our job and all were very professional - from prepping properly to avoid damage to floors, etc., to proper removal of hardware, to sanding to clean up. Everyone working for the company had a good work ethic and positive attitude. They left every detail completed as promised. We feel like we received excellent value for every dollar we spent on the project. David, his company and workers care about details and about delivering a quality job. They basically made our kitchen look new.

Dave was able to come over to look at the damage the day I called him and emailed me a quote that night. Once the work was completed the actual invoice came in below the quote, he billed on actual time and materials used. The finished product looked almost seamless to the surrounding areas. I would recommend and use again.

Superbly. Novak and his staff are the best I know of in the Twin Cities. They are wonderfully exacting in their demands on themselves. Perfection is standard performance for them. They make useful suggestions for handling unexpected problems encountered in the course of the work. David Novak is a gifted judge of color and the compatibilities of various colors that will go together in a room.
Not surprisingly, they are a bit more expensive than their competition. However, the difference is not great. We used another organization on our last re-decoration. For the higher price, Novak performed far, far better. The increased cost was definitely worth it in our view.
I can't imagine anyone going wrong in hiring this firm to do interior re-decoration.

The job started on schedule and progressed to conclusion on time. The work was professionally done and came in on budget.

It went very well. Dave did an outstanding job getting the many layers of paint off of the woodwork. The entire job took about a week. I wasn't sure how it would come out as I have seen others attempt this and they usually don't get all of the paint out of the wood grain. I'm very happy with the result; the woodwork that he stripped is now virtually indistinguishable from the other woodwork around the windows and doors which had never been painted.

He is extremely meticulous and did a great job. He matched the woodwork in the kitchen and hallway. He was a little expensive, but worth the money. He was very responsive and did the job very neatly. I liked his services and will use the same in future.

Dave did an excellent repair. He was very knowlegeable and responsive. My tenants were very happy with the quality of his work and cleanup.

We have worked with Dave and his crew several times on various kinds of projects including refinishing woodwork. They always do a great job and are very meticulous. This was a long and challenging project that had some unforeseen problems. Dave coped with those problems very well. The plaster looks fantastic, as does the paint.

I called Dave on a Friday for a last minute ceiling repair where the lathe was exposed in a 10x10 section. While he wasn't planning on working that weekends he made an exception and got the job in record time and saved the day. He was professional, left the place really clean and it was obvious that he is committed to excellence. We would definitely use him again.

About six months after we moved into our house, the paint in the bathroom started peeling off in sheets, revealing many layers of ancient glossy paint, some of it no doubt dating back to 1916. We were already well-acquainted with Dave's skill, so we called him in to help us get rid of the peeling paint and replaster the walls and ceiling. He and his crew were very careful to seal off the room and ventilate with negative airflow to keep the paint chips, dust, etc. from going throughout the house. It took a ridiculous amount of scraping to get down to where the wall could be primed and replastered, but they were undaunted. Dave also had to deal with a crack above the toilet, which turned out to be caused by an awkwardly placed waste pipe from the upstairs bathroom that protruded into the downstairs bathroom. Once he finished replastering, I couldn't even tell that there was a pipe anywhere. Now we have absolutely gorgeous walls that put the rest of the bathroom to shame. Could we have done this work ourselves? Well, perhaps, but it wouldn't have looked nearly as good and it would have taken us about four months to complete since we have small children.

I had hired Dave the year before to paint my house (exterior) and so this was a rehire. I have been very pleased with both Dave's personal attention, his crew and the work they have done. They are flexible, professional, do quality work, worked with me on selecting alternatives, and cleaned up. I will use Dave and Novak Painting again.

David returned my first phone call immediately. He came within a day or 2 to make an estimate. He emailed an estimate the same night. He was able to start our project within a few days. He and his crew arrived exactly when they said they would. They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. The work got done in half the estimated time, and it looks great!

He is exceptional. He is punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. He worked within the time frame and he did a great job of cleaning up. He works to please his customers and he does excellent detail work.

David gave a quote within hours of the first call. He was accommodating in scheduling the work when I was on vacation from my job, so that I could be home for the project. The crew showed up on time the first morning and promptly prepared the space. Every step progressed just as it was explained. There was a more extensive repair needed on the living room ceiling which required overnight dry time. David made sure not to rush the drying, so that the final product would not crack or peel. Very good work!

We had a great experience with Dave Novak. He was quick in responding to my initial call for a consultation and set up a time to come out right away. His original quote was slightly higher than some of the others we had gotten, but he was so professional and accessible that we decided the slight difference was worth the investment. In the end, he charged us less than the original estimate anyhow! Our home looks beautiful and the painting is really well done.

Dave presented a very professional, detailed proposal for the work to be performed. He helped with color and stain selections and suggested a black diamond pattern on the bathroom walls to carry through the diamond pattern in the floor tile. It took quite a bit of work to lay out and execute it. It looks great! He made a room that looked pretty to one that is WOW! Not your ordinary bathroom. I plan on having Dave paint all of the rooms in our house as we move from room to room and redecorate.

Met or exceeded our expectations in all areas. We were under the time crunch, and he came right away and helped us out. Very personable, nice guy as well as helpful. Price was less then originally quoted.

Excellent work, very good at paint matching, I recommend David very highly. Very thorough. More projects to come.

WE USUALLY DO OUR OWN PAINTING, SO WERE HESITANT TO HIRE THIS PROJECT OUT, IN RETROSPECT NOW, NOVAK'S WORK WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO WHAT WE COULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, AND IT ONLY TOOK HIM 3 DAYS! WE WOULD HAVE BEEN AT IT ALL SUMMER. PRICE WAS FAIR. WE ARE VERY PLEASED.

Dave Novak is an old school tradesman - he and his crew showed up on time, completed the work, and did it all with very professional thoroughness. My wife and I were very impressed with the work. Dave was very proactive about making sure our expectations were set appropriately up front, and he guaranteed a price (even when he found the dimensions to be a bit larger than he expected). Quality of the work was excellent - they taped, tarped, removed plug covers and painted 2 coats in under 12 hours. We would recommend Novak Painting and Decorating to anyone looking for an honest service provider who does a fantastic job!

DAVE CAME OUT TO HELP US FIX OUR WALLS AFTER OUR KITCHEN DEMOLITION REMOVED A LOT MORE PLASTER THAN WE EXPECTED. WE NEEDED SOMEONE TO HELP US QUICKLY AS WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR REMODELING PROJECT AND HADN'T ANTICIPATED THE SITUATION. DAVE WAS GREAT! HE WAS ABLE TO SQUEEZE US IN AROUND HIS SCHEDULE AND BROUGHT IN SOMEONE TO HELP HIM OUT TO GET THE WORK DONE QUICKLY. HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT WE REQUESTED FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE AND THE WALLS LOOK WONDERFUL. WOULD DEFINITELY CALL HIM AGAIN.

AMAZING! THIS GUY IS TERRIFIC!! WE RAN INTO SOME TROUBLE WHEN WE REMOVED OLD BOOKSHELVES FROM THE WALLS OF OUR 1917 COLONIAL HOUSE. WE NEEDED TO FIND SOMEONE TO REPAIR THE PLASTER IN ONE DAY BECAUSE OUR PAINTERS WERE SCHEDULED TO FINISH THE ROOM. I SEARCHED ANGIE'S LIST AND CAME ACROSS DAVID. HE WAS ABLE TO COME OUT THE VERY SAME DAY TO ESTIMATE THE JOB AND STARTED FIRST THING THE NEXT DAY. HIS PRICE WAS VERY FAIR AND THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT. DAVID SMOOTHED OUT A VERY BUMPY WALL AND PATCHED A HUGE HOLE IN THE OTHER. THE WALLS LOOKED BRAND NEW WHEN HE WAS DONE!!! DAVID IS TRULY A CRAFTSMAN AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.
