With two dogs and a dad with dementia living in our lower level, a lot of dog accidents had been happening. After multiple carpet cleanings we decided to get rid of the carpet and get some kind of a hard surface covering over the concrete floor. We looked into vinyl, got some quotes then heard about New Look Concrete. Shawn was quick to give us an estimate and bring additional color samples when asked. He explained the process: over the first pigmented coat, thousands of small multicolored paint chips are scattered. Next, two top coats are applied. The end result would look like multicolored granite or terrazzo. He was easy to deal with and knew a lot about various floor coverings and concrete coatings. I was able to schedule the job within 2 weeks. The job was basically done in a day with a 3 person crew (they returned to install wood transition strips in two doorways the following day). We kept all windows opened and they left fans for a day to help remove the chemical odor which eventually went away. You wouldn't want to have this process done during a season when the windows must be shut. We absolutely love the floor. It looks so beautiful--from a distance, it looks like sumptuous carpeting. It is amazingly easy to clean and sturdy enough to not be marred by a battery acid spill. Shawn uses the same product on garage floors and even over wood. Shawn didn't charge me for removing the wood in the kitchen which he'd originally thought he'd coat over.
