Wonderful service with beautiful result at half the price it would cost.

The work went well. The crew did a good job, and while they worked, two (maybe three) neighbors stopped to arrange for theirs to be done as well. I had done all edging and weed pulling to assure they wouldn't be slowed down. They completed the work in about an hour. They applied some type of emulsion material with squeegees, put a yellow guard strip across the driveway, cleaned up and left. We can use the driveway tomorrow morning. The company accepts personal checks and will send us an invoice for payment.

The crew that arrived to remove the old asphalt was hard working, all business and very polite. They had several trucks, a Bobcat, and removed all the old asphalt. They also dug down to remove the spongy clay that would prevent a good application of new asphalt, and added solid fill.  They then returned on another occasion, when dry weather permitted, to put down the new asphalt. The crew trimmed the areas around the steps and garden very handsomely.
Modern Roadways was a pleasure to deal with! The price was very good, and the work outstanding. I especially appreciate their attention to critical matters such as removing the clay beneath the old driveway when other contractors might have just paved over it. I highly recommend them!

Went very well given unavoidable delay due to inclement weather, nothing they controlled. Just a reminder if you are looking for a complete by date, factor weather.  The work site was very clean and the remainder of the property unaffected by their work..  

The original work was done well and in a timely manner.  It is the follow up that I am having trouble with.  Two months after the driveway was completed, my daughter parked on the driveway and her wheel sunk into the asphalt.  I called twice to have them fill the hollow spot before winter.  They said they would come but never did.  I called last week to have them come and fill the indent which I believe should be an under-warranty repair.  Today I received an estimate of $360 of proposed additional work.  I am not happy with the way this has been handled.

Exellent company.  You worry when you realize there's going to be a person spraying hot asphalt with a wand. But nothing was masked off and the operator put the hot liquid asphalt down very precisely.

Modern Roadways responded immediately to my request for an estimate for the work to be completed.  The estimate arrived in the mail on or near the day promised and the work began shortly thereafter.  The crew that installed the driveway addition was very professional and meticulous in laying the asphalt.  The workmanship and attention to detail was outstanding.  After the work was completed, the owner of the company stopped by to check the work and asked about our satisfaction with the workmanship.  I have used Modern Roadways on another project which also was done extremely well.  If I had another project, I would hire them again.

I researched, and researched 15 companies to get my driveway done right.  Modern Roadways came in with the lowest bid (significantly less!) and, I believe, gave me the best possible product.  DO NOT get your driveway done without including these guys in the bidding process.  You may be amazed.  I am 100% satisfied and have shared their name with many, many people,  They use a very large machine to lay the asphalt (like they use on the roads) which compresses the asphalt under much higher pressure, meaning that they use more asphalt on the job.

Got 2 estimates and they cost the less.

It took a few days to get the quote out to me. After I had questions, and decided to make some changes, another estimate was mailed to me. The estimator was informative. Scheduling the job was no problem. The job was neatly done and it was done on time.

It was a good experience. The workers were really good to work with, very nice and polite. The owner was really easy to work with also. They left a little bit of a mess in the public area, but they were so much cheaper than anyone else and the owner came at the end to check the job himself.

This took maybe an hour or less. The price was good. They put down too much gravel. I've already had to take 2 wheelbarrows of gravel off and find a place to dump it. They said we'd be able to sweep the excess off, but there is too much.

I was lucky that someone else got delayed, so they could do my job the very next day. It looks great and he widened the narrow spots. We got several bids and most of them wanted to rip out everything and start over, but I did not want to pay for that. The Modern Roadways bid was quite a bit lower than the other two, but I have no reason to think I got anything but a good deal. We will see what it looks like in a few year, but so far, it is stunning and beautiful.

They answered my questions when I called to inquire, sent out someone to do an estimate the next day, and sent me a written estimate by mail. Their bid was considerably less than others that I called. They did the work just 4 days later. The driveway looks great! Great service and a great product.

A very positive experience.

We had a great experience with Modern Roadway. They were quick to return all phone calls. Since we had some flexibility on timing, they were able to start on the job within a week of when we accepted their quotation. Of the companies I talked with, they were by far the best at answering questions and offering detailed advice for how to preserve the driveway. They were also most convincing about what material choices they were making, and what the trade-offs were. The crew that did the job was very careful and thorough, and were willing to make minor changes without haggling about cost. My neighbor who is in a related business commented, "Those guys are really spending the time to do this right". It was a difficult job, but we ended up with a driveway that is sculpted to keep water away from the house and out of the neighbor's yard. The first rains confirmed that the water is moved effectively to the street and back yard. Modern Roadways comes with our highest recommendation.

I found Modern Roadways' Ed Smith easy to work with and quite experienced. He used the existing base, which saved us time and money. Our city requires contractors to be bonded and licensed here for a fee, which Modern Roadways already had obtained, saving us time.
