Furniture - Sales
TERRIBLE!!
Ordered the couch first after seeing it in the store. Ordered a custom fabric based on the color we saw in the picture online. We were told by the sales associate that it would be 5 weeks for custom order fabric. Also requested a fabric sample be sent to our house. Should have waited for the sample to arrive but didn't want to miss out on the sale price (that part is our fault).
When the fabric sample arrived it looked nothing like the picture online and I called customer service. Was told that if I changed the color or canceled the order I would lose my deposit ($200). Despite the fact that it took 1 week for the sample to arrive, I would have had to make any changes within 72 hours. We decided to just make it work.
One week later, we ordered a chair. I asked if I could coordinate delivery with my existing order, was told that I could but was still charged $25 for delivery. No mention of a potential delivery date.
The following week we tried to order a sectional and some coffee tables. Again I asked to coordinate delivery in hopes of saving a few dollars. This time I was told that the delivery date for the first couch was 12 WEEKS out. We will not have our furniture in time for Christmas.
1 hour and 20 mins. later on the phone with customer service they had offered us early delivery of just the chair at no further charge (well, duh!) and a Macy's gift card (first offer was for $50... then $75... last offer was $100)... the gift card will take 2-3 weeks to arrive! ;) No effort was made to check on status or move the delivery date of the couch. They will not compensate us for delivery or for the furniture protection plan... they just offered us gift cards to spend more money at their store in the future. We were told that even when Macy's has the couch delivered to their warehouse it will will be another 2 week after that before I could expect delivery and they have no way to speed up that process either.
Totally disgusted... we've decided not to order the sectional, coffee tables or any other furniture from Macy's.
Cannot comment on the quality for the furniture because we are still waiting for it!!

Shoe Repair
The downtown minneapolis Macy's Shoe Repair did an excellent job. They are by far the best shoe repair in town. He's honest about what can be fixed and what can't, and the work is high quality, which since I buy expensive designer shoes, it's well worth the investment. A little more expensive than some repair places, but definitely worth it and I can always trust him to take good care of my shoes while they're being repaired. Highly recommend Macy's Shoe Repair!

Watch Repair
Work performed promptly with a smile. Pleasant counter guy also did a quick watch cleaning and precisely reset the time and date on my watch. The battery was warranted for a year. And here's the rub: The replaced battery died a year and a day after it was installed. This is the second time that has happened to me at Macy's. The first time I thought it was a fluke. (Other places I have gotten a new battery it has lasted two years.) Needless to say, I will not use Macy's again for watch repair.

I WORKED WITH A WOMAN NAMED GAIL KOCHIE WHO WAS AN EXCELLENT SALESPERSON. THE SECTIONAL TOOK LONGER THAN WE THOUGHT, BECAUSE THE FABRIC WAS OUT OF STOCK AT THE COMPANY, BUT GAIL KEPT ME UP-TO-DATE, AND EVERYTHING LOOKS FANTASTIC!
