After 14 months of a 24 month contract, I called to cancel. Without going into long, boring details, suffice it to say that I've had consistent and repeated service issues and concerns in the last 14 months. Two of the issues deal with mishandling of my personal information as well as my credit card information. I've had several conversations with Lloyd Security in the last 14 months in which I explained my dissatisfaction with the service/value ratio and each time was left feeling no better after the call than I did before the call. So today I called to discuss ending our partnership and while I acknowledged we had a contract and that I didn't want to default on that agreement, I was hopeful that we could all be reasonable and agree that this just wasn't working out. I offered a "60-day" notice to cancel and asked to have a mutual termination of the remaining contract at that point. I felt this was a fair place to start the conversation in light of the safety concerns I had as well as several service related issues. Instead, the gentleman on the other end of the phone became argumentative and told me I was free to cancel but that I would still be held to buying out the remainder of the contract - I would be in "breach of contract." I understand contracts, I really do. But I also understand that if someone is presenting a fair and reasonable request to end a business partnership, it might make more sense to compromise than to simply throw the contract back in someone's face. I'm not someone who is just deciding to quit paying for no reason. I've tried to be patient and understanding regarding the poor service. I don't want or trust Lloyd Security to proved home security and I'm quite certain that they're pretty sick of me too. Why threaten me with "breach of contract"? I know Lloyd Security has many satisfied customers and likely more happy than unhappy ones. I just happen to be one of the unhappy ones. My concerns are valid. I think they tried to do right by me but in my situation they just weren't able to. Because I do respect contracts, I'll continue to pay until the contract expires and then will partner with another provider. I'll leave even more dissatisfied as a result of how they handled today's conversation and it's clear that it doesn't bother them at all. They won't go out of business because I'm leaving next year and they wouldn't go out of business by letting me go today either. What became a bad situation has only gotten worse and really, there's no reason that had to happen.

I researched a few security companies to see if anyone would be able to handle my family's unique circumstances. A Lloyd sales rep (who is no longer with the company) made some statements and promises that were not in line with what the company policies actually were. This created what could have been a really bad situation but I was able to deal with the situation amicably directly with Jill, the owner of the company. I doubt this could have been resolved with one of the large national companies in such a positive manner.
I will continue to recommend Lloyd to friends, family, and business associates without hesitation.

We have been extremely unhappy with this company since we had them install our security system 6 years ago.
There have been constant problems. Their technician visits are extremely expensive. The owners rude. Their monitoring sketchy. (Had a smoke detector continually beep...took it down on a Saturday, had them call on Monday to see if we had a problem.) Really??
Never felt "protected" with their system. Felt their equipment to be unreliable.
Was very relieved to cancel our association with them and go with a more reliable company. Should have done it years ago but they assured us of better service. Not.
We would NEVER recommend Lloyd Security!

When we ran the "apples to apples" numbers, Lloyd and ADT were about equal in cost over the long run. But ADT felt like they were trying to up sell us products that we didn't need. Lloyd actually listened and spent time figuring out exactly what would work best for our "old South Minneapolis home" scenario. They also worked within our budget.
Lloyd customer service was excellent and I would highly recommend them for both sales representative care and professional installation. When one of the sensors didn't work quite right the first time they installed it because of a manufacturing defect, they came out immediately and replaced it. In the process we decided to upgrade with a few extras and they installed those with no problems.
Lloyd customer service lived up to it's billing and was certainly worth going with their local company.

The sales rep arrived when promised to survey our home and determine equipment needed for our situation. This is our first home security system, and although I had done some research on various systems, he was knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the type of equipment that would be beneficial to us based on my questions to him. The service tech also arrived at the time promised on the installation date. The install went very smoothly and the tech was patient and helpful in explaining the operation of our first system to us before he left. Overall to date we are very satisfied with their sales, install, monitoring and billing departments.

After a recent break in, I contacted multiple security companies to provide estimates and install a security system. Lloyd was the only company that responded quickly, was willing to come out to my house and review my needs and was extremely straight forward. Some of the companies wouldn't even come out to my house!!! I guess that is the benefit of using a locally owned company.
I selected Lloyd based on professionalism, knowledge, price and product. The sales consultant was extremely knowledgable and spent nearly an hour with me just understanding my needs. The installer Martrelle was prompt, professional, and picked up after himself. He was very patient with me when he explained how to use the system and did not leave until I was comfortable. I love all of the features of my new security system, especially the fact that I do not need a phone line.

The sales representative was very knowledgeable. She guided us through all of the choices and helped us design a great system for our family. We were able to cancel our home phone line which basically washed the monthly monitoring fees. Lloyd upgraded our system and it all looks great. The technician Ben was on time, friendly, clean and was very thorough with his instructions on using the system.
The follow up since the installation has been great! All of my questions have been answered, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I am very detailed and they have been able to give me all of the information I have requested,

We needed a security system for mother in laws house. We needed it installed quickly. We had estimates from Lloyds and Floyds. Because we needed it done almost immediately Lloyds was able to install system within a week. I chose them because they were local. Many companies promise packages for $100. or so but the problem you will discover is the packages are minimal and may not cover all doors. You will pay extra for more sensors. In the end we paid close to $400.00 for coverage of all areas we wanted covered (several doors) The monthly cost for Lloyds is higher but it is difficult compare companies. They have been responsive to any issues we have had (a defective sensor was replaced although we had to pay for a service call) and I would recommend them although I would check out other companies as well if you have the time. Just be aware once again, you will be committed to their service for several years and the basic package will in many cases not be sufficient to cover all entrances. They also charge us extra to bill us by mail rather than put it on automatic billing per credit card.

The installation and service was pretty good. They were not very responsive. Sometimes when I would call, they would have to call back. They did not make themselves clear on the moving policy. I was disappointed because their financial contract was misleading. They never notified me that I had a balance to pay them. I ended up with a huge bill at the end to cancel it out. They were not very forthcoming about buying out or transferring the system when I moved

The first install started poorly, as they were over an hour past the time scheduled. The installation took 6 hours, for a panel and two door alarms. This house already had Lloyd security as a provider, so I didn't expect so many problems. I had contacted Jill Lloyd with my concerns, and never heard back from her. Both Jill and their customer support specialist, Mark, are very slow to respond. If at all. Beware their 5 year contract, with a huge early termination fee. Additionally, their monitoring service only notified me when my back door alarm had been triggered back in May, not the authorities. Overall, terrible customer service and questionable monitoring provider.

I was so fed up with my old security monitoring company and their constant raising of rates. I was paying over $50 for that other group with no Cell connection. And with Lloyd Security the monitoring and cell connection is only $44.95! The experience was awesome from first contact through installation. Jill listened to my story and wrote up a replacement package for me that was exactly what I wanted. The installer was prompt, pleasant and effiecient. I'm extremely happy I've been able to sever ties with that other impersonal security monitoring conglomerate and I'm really happy to have found a local Twin Cities company with so much experience here. I just received my first invoice and I'm pleasantly suprised at how much I'm saving thanks to Jill Lloyd and her awesome staff at Lloyd Security.

Overall very good. Quickly corrected a minor service lapse and provided several requested upgrades to our system at no additional cost (other than a renewed three year contract). Upgraded system, professionally installed, reasonably priced.

It went great! We are extremely frustrated with all of our contractors EXCEPT Lloyd! Lloyd was the only contractor we've hired in our new home that has done exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, and for the cost they said they'd do it. We found the costs to be entirely reasonable, and are so much happier working with a local company that knows our area and knows our neighborhood - much better than our last company. I'd highly recommend choosing Lloyd Security.

Our experience was great from the first contact, to the final install. We had a sales rep come assess our needs, he was extremely professional and courteous. They worked well with our schedule and were so prompt when returning our calls (again we just had our first baby, so many questions came to mind after our initial meeting). Our installer was great, removed his shoes at the door, which I thought was very thoughtful, installed everything in about 4 hours, walked us through every detail of the system, left stickers and phone numbers for us. We felt very taken care of.

From start to finish things went extremely well. From the initial consultation during which I felt Lloyd Security had a much better understading of my needs than other companies to the installation. The installer was extremely professional and patient but most importantly cleaned up after himself!! The instructions were clear and the support afterwards has been excellent. I would recommend using a local company over any of the nationals.

I had the sales person come out to my home to give me an estimate for the system. The salesperson was prompt, very patient, went through all of my questions and designed a system specifically for my needs. Three days later the installer and the sales person showed up at my home to walk through the installation. This made communiating my needs to the installer much easier since I had already gone over everything in detail with the sales person. The installer was professional, installed the system to specifications and cleaned up after himself. He was very patient in explaining how the system worked and even let me use if for a few days on "test" before it was live with the LOCAL monitoring station. Two days after the system was installed I received a call from the owner of Lloyd Security making sure the installation went well and that I was satisifed with the salesperson, the installation and the system overall. It has been a long time since I have received this level of customer service, it just added to my confidence that I chose the right company. I would recommend this local company any day!
