The Light tubes in my house had trouble with condensation last winter. I hired Lakewoods Remodeling Inc. to see if they could correct the problem (my former contractor had not returned my calls). First we talked over the job, it was too hot to complete the job immediately, we stayed in communication until it was safe for someone to be in the crawlspace. The service technician was polite and prompt. He found the the original installation of my 7 light tubes was incomplete. He completed the taping and insulation of all light tubes. I highly recommend this company. Their work skills and communication means a fixed house and peace of mind for next winter.

My initial contact was with Bill Mossberg, Supervisor and Sales Associate. He was very knowledgeable and interested in doing what was necessary to do what we wanted and make us happy. His price was very competitive with the five other proposals I received. The whole job was completed in a timely manner, and the results exceeded my expectations. There were several items on our old house that caused extra labor, but these were handled without extra cost to me - a nice extra.

Scott returned my call promptly, made an appointment, and provided a very detailed, and very competitive bid. He educated me on several aspects of the job, and offered excellent suggestions for cost savings, and quality improvements. Ultimately, we chose another contractor, but it was basically a tossup between the two. I am absolutely certain, I would have been very happy working with Scott and I am confident I would have gotten a quality job. I had two great companies offering bids. I'd recommend Scott to anyone, based on the way he handled the bidding process, and the quality of his work on other projects I have seen.

I had called another company to do the work, but after not showing up for the third time, I called Lakewoods. Lakewoods quote was much more reasonable than the other two quotes I received, and based on the ratings from the list, I decided to try them. Steve quickly gave me an estimate and scheduled the repair. My roof is very high and has several gables, so it takes extra people to work on it. They came out, did the repair as scheduled and cleaned up. I'm planning to use them for a few other projects that have been waiting for too long!

I called Lakewoods Remodeling after an unsuccessful experience of trying to get my roofing done with another company. I spoke with Scott Rise, the owner of Lakewoods, and explained that this was an insurance storm damage claim from the previous year, and I was very concerned with timing and also getting the pricing in line with the amount the insurance company awarded. Scott took special care to reassure me that he would negotiate with my insurance company and try to come to a consensus to satisfy all. He ended up having to make several phone calls to my insurance company and even called the City office where I live, in order to prove to the insurance company that certain materials were needed. He put in a lot of time and effort, and all the pricing and timing came together for me. His crew did a FANTASTIC job - my new roofs look great, and the cleanup afterward was very good too. Also, Scott was always very quick to get back to me by phone or e-mail when I had any questions. Needless to say, Scott and Lakewoods Remodeling gave excellent service with a definite "care about the customer" attitude. I was very satisfied.

Contacted Lakewoods and 2 other companies from Angie's List. Met with Steve and talked about the job. He offered suggestions on roof venting, flashing and gutters. When I received the quote 1 day later I found it to be detailed and reasonable. I checked with the references that were provided and drove by several of Lakewoods' recent roof jobs. Everything was very good. The work was started within a week of sending Lakewoods a signed contract, and finished the same day. The clean up was outstanding. The roof looks great, and I expect it to keep us dry for years to come.

Last year I also had a couple of shingles fall off my house. I called Lakewoods Remodeling and they came over within a day or two, did excellent work, and charged just $100. So when the same thing happened this year, I called them again. This time they sent someone (Steve) over within 3 hours of my call. He got up on my roof, fixed the area in question, and even checked other areas of my roof and my chimney flashing. He took time to answer my questions, and provided advice on how to repair some exterior window trim. After all this, I asked him about a bill, and he told me he wouldn't charge me anything! He only asked that I consider using him again if I have another project--and that I pass on his name to others!

I called Lakewoods for two reasons: (1) I needed a small roof repair quickly before a heavy rainstorm that was forecasted, and (2) I wanted an estimate for a replacement of two storm windows. The man who came to the house showed up exactly when he said he would, and finished a quality repair of our roof very quickly. He also took measurements of our picture windows for the estimate. I was told he would mail me an estimate by the end of the week. However, I never received that estimate. I even called Lakewoods again, and the person I spoke with told me that the man who had been at our house had just gone on vacation, and that I would likely received an estimate when he returned. However, I never did get it. The work they did was great and affordable-if I was evaluating on the basis of the roof repair alone they would get a solid A. But given the fact that they did not follow through on the estimate, I have to grade them lower.

With my roof well over 20 years old, I decided it was time to get new shingles and also replace the deteriorating gutters on the house, as well as add gutters to the detached garage. Using Angie's List, I contacted Lakewoods Remodeling along with two other highly-rated companies. I negotiated with two of them, until Bill Mossberg of Lakewoods and I agreed on a price. I was out of town when they were ready to begin, but called me and got permission before they went ahead. Neighbors said they were up and down inside of a day. When I returned to town, I found the roof finished and looking great. A few days later, they came back to take care of the gutters. Both jobs were done quickly and, as far as I can tell, with care and professionalism. They did a fine job cleaning up -- I've found only a few odd scraps in the yard, for a job that involves hundreds of separate pieces. My main concern was that they use the shingles I had specified -- architectural shingles of a certain color that I thought would add to the look of the house and, consequently, its resale value. They used the right materials. All in all, I was very pleased with the experience and the job they did. Bill was very professional, easy to deal with and promised a good job. They delivered.

We had Lakewoods and three other contractors out to estimate re-doing the flat roof over our garage (it leaked) and repairing a roof/window well that perpetually leaked. Lakewoods and one other actually showed up (the third never did) and both recommended the exact same scope of work and repair. Lakewoods was half the price of the other guy. They did it and did a nice job. They called afterward to make sure we were satisfied. Very good company. When we had to make a very minor repair to our roof to sell the house they came out and did it for the cost of materials.

Bill Mossberg, the saleman, was friendly, responsive, accomodating and fair without being pushy. He was late for the estimate, but called first to explain and ask if it was an inconvenience. The work was done in a timely manner and seemed to be of good quality. I received three bids and all of the bids came in pretty close. I chose Lakewood because they had the best Angie's List reports and I liked working with Bill. The only criticism I have was the clean up. Some old metal from my garage was left in my yard because the production person, Steve, wanted it for his personal use. I am happy that some someone could find purpose in my construction debris, but it took two phone calls before he finally picked it up.

I am happy with the work. Bill was thorough in giving me information and the bid and in scheduling the work. The crew did good work and cleaned up very well. The roof was completed in one day and the dumpster was gone by noon the next day. Bill and Steve both checked on the final work and met with the city inspector over final details. I highly recommend Lakewoods Remodeling.

They are excellent and professional. I will use them again in the future.

The estimator arrived promptly on the appointment day. After discussing what I wanted, he measured and provided a bid. There were no high pressure tactics. I received the written bid in the mail two days later. After obtaining 2 other bids which were both substantially more costly, I contacted Lakewoods and we finalized the contract. I requested they perform the work sometime during a two-week period. They called ahead and gave me several days notice of the day they intended to do the work (of course, weather permitting). They were scheduled to arrived at 7:00 a.m. and were already hard at work in less than 10 minutes. They finished the job the same day. The roof looks beautiful and they did an excellent job with cleanup. Their team was easy to work with and the whole process went very well.

They spent thirty minutes inspecting the roof. They did a thorough job. It took them two or three hours to complete the work. The quality of the work was good. They did a great job of inspecting the roof after the storm. The professionalism was top notch. They came out quickly and got the work done quickly with out much fuss.

Overall it went great. I contacted Lakewoods to replace my house roof due to hail damage. Bill arrived at the appointed time and gave me his estimate. He was professional and good to work with. They did the house roof on schedule and at estimated cost. After the house roof was done, I decided to have the garage roof done too (my mistake not to just order them both done at the same time). Bill handled this extra request very well. The garage roof was completed as promised. Both roofs look great. The Lakewoods office was a big help getting the insurance paperwork completed. I would be happy to hire Lakewoods again in the future.

A hail storm damaged the roof. Scott Rise examined the roof to see if the damage justified a claim, which it did. He met with me and the insurance adjuster. When the insurance company questioned the claim, he met with them for the on-site inspection, and the claim was approved. He explained the whole process to us in a very clear way. The work was scheduled when we wanted it. His crew was very careful not to make a mess or damage gardens. The work quality was good. At the end, the insurance company didn't reimburse for the dumpster, so Scott didn't charge us for it.

The bid was the lowest of the threee I got although very close to the contractor I selected. I didn't use them because my neighbor also got a bid from them and during the walk-around the contractor suggested that if the homeowner broke a few shingles he could get the insurance company to pay part of the cost as wind damage. I didn't think this was ethical and would not use this contractor as a result.

They were very straight forward and honest, and very easy to work with. The price was very reasonable, and we will be using them to do the work in the future.

Due to an impending home sale, we needed to replace an old roof very quickly and had gotten an estimate from our insurance company for what it should cost based on a hail damage claim. Lakeshore gave us a written estimate the same day we called them and stated they could complete the job within the two week time frame I asked for and for the amount the insurance would pay. Based on their responsiveness and Angie's list reports we hired them and they did the work a week later. Once the old shingles were torn off, the roofers discovered that the existing roof boards had gaps and they could not, according to code, put new shingles over those old boards. They placed a call to our insurance adjuster who was not able to come and look at the roof for a couple of days, so we decided to go ahead and put down new decking so the project could be completed in a timely manner. Due to the delay in getting the decking and putting it in place, the roofing crew had to work until the sun was going down. They returned the next day to complete it and got everything done except some work on the chimney (due to equipment problems). I had to call a couple of times to get them back to finish up that small project but they got to it when it was important. Also, one of the project managers came to our house to pick up the payment check because I wanted it documented that the work was done and paid for so the sale of the house could go forward. Throughout the whole project, Scott kept in touch with our insurance company, sent them the documentation they requested, and followed up with them as necessary. I was also in touch with the insurance company to try to get the outstanding issues resolved and stay on their case. It looked like they were not going to authorize payment for the decking (which was not in the original estimate of damages) because they were not able to verify the decking (remember, the adjuster couldn't come out right away) but somehow Scott convinced them and we got the whole thing covered. Amazing!

Scott Rice, owner, suggested a type of siding for the house that I had not heard about. It looks great and I am very happy with the result.

I could not have had better people to work with. Bill helped me choose a color for the roof. The inspector wanted a brace in the garage and Bill said that it was not a problem. He sent someone over to get a 16' 4" wide board and they installed it in the garage. He went way beyond what I had expected. They are very nice people to work with and very competent.

I was really pleased with the job that Lakewoods did in replacing our old roof with a new one. The personnel at Lakewoods are friendly, responsive, and competent. The supervisors who oversaw the roof crew were diligent. They were not always present while the roof workers were doing the job because they supervise multiple projects going on simultaneously, but were reachable by cell phone if they were needed (and I did call them a couple of times). The project supervisors visited the project site a few times to ensure that the job was going smoothly and at the end of the job to inspect the work and ensure that the site was properly cleaned up. The supervisors were patient in answering my questions. The supervisors were on the spot in correcting any unanticipated delays or problems and keeping the project moving forward. What I appreciate most about any contractor is how they take responsibility for their work and correcting mistakes. In line with the supervisors, the work crew was respectful and diligent in doing their work. Lakewoods had the lowest bid of three bidders, by almost $3,000 in one case and about $500 in another. However, it is very hard to make and apples-to-apples comparison of bids because one bid may include the cost of the permit, for example, while another bid may just say in the fine print that the bid does not include the permit cost. Also, some bids include a higher cost shingle than another bid. If you get multiple bids, you should really study what is and isn't included to make an apples-to-apples comparison, as one bid may look lower on the surface, but it could actually end up being the same or higher because some pieces were not included in the bid that may end up being a part of the cost. A big source of initial confusion for me was sorting through the different types and brands of shingles on the market, including the various time periods of the guarantees (i.e. lifetime guarantee, 30-year, etc.), the type of shingle (three-tab versus architectural), and what those factors do to the cost of the shingles. If I was doing this project all over again, I would have first done research on shingles up front.

It was a very interesting experience. Once the roof was torn off we got rain in the house, and they broke the deck that they threw the roofing debris down on to. A couple of months later the roof leaked and they said that there was nothing they could do.
