Wow! Repaired a mess of a clock and did it in less than a week. Also very affordable. Another clock repair service supposedly repaired it and it was a mess. They even used wrong size of parts and bent pieces to get them to fit. Chiming was lame when it happened at all. Fixed up the mess well and calibrated it. Couldn't be happier! Love the clock and it works well an sounds beautiful! Thank you.

The Ethan Allen mantel clock is a mechanical timepiece, no electronics. Tom estimated three weeks to finish servicing the clock. That was exactly how much time it took to complete the service. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions about the clock - I had many questions. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable about the timepiece and the company that originally made the internal clockworks back in 1969 when my father purchased the clock. Tom thoroughly explained the work that he performed and why it was necessary. He gave me the worn parts that he replaced, which was a nice touch. The price was a bit of a shock, but considering what he had to do to get the clock back to being completely functional again and that the clock had never been serviced in 46 years, the cost was VERY well worth it. I am beyond pleased with the clock now that it has been fixed. The chime now functions with strict meter and no more wild rubato, which was driving me nuts before I brought it for repair. I am glad that there is a place like It's About Time that can service old and strictly mechanical timepieces like mine. I absolutely recommend his service.

My clock got broken, took it in. I was told the repairs could be done. And what the cost would be and that it would be higher if there was a need for new parts. Also told the expected repair time was 1 month (which is in line with past with other clock services). The clock was repaired on time and on budget. Also, I told them that the clock had not kept time since the last cleaning. It now keeps time. I am very pleased with the knowledge and service and the results. I will use them again when service is required.

Our chime clock was chiming strangely. He was able to fix it and do a general cleaning of this 30+ year old clock. It took him almost a month, but he told us that when we dropped it off, so that was fine with us.

They repaired a wooden clock for me. It was moving slowly and the time was wrong, I tried replacing the battery and it didn't fix the problem. They replaced the mechanism and it now works fine.

First, I called the shop number, and got an answering machine message that stated if I received that message during business hours, it meant he was taking care of a customer in his shop. (This is a sole proprietorship--one employee, the owner.) I may be showing how old I am, but this was the way businesses USED to operate, taking care of a customer who was actually present in the store. Now, so many shopkeepers make the customer in the store wait while a phone call is taken. I much prefer the old-fashioned way of doing business. Next, the estimate was around $100, if the clockwork could be repaired, and over $300 if the clockwork had to be replaced. (I have no idea what was wrong with the clock, but it cost $250 in 1977 when one dollar was 2.3 Duetsche Marks., so an equivalent replacement (and I did some quick Internet searches) would probably be in the $700 range. The repair time estimate was three weeks, and on the 21st day, I had a voice-mail message on my phone that the clock was ready. The owner was able to repair, not replace, and so the cost was $89.00. I had noticed after I brought the empty packing box home when I left the clock for repair that the two metal chains operating the weights had picked up enough moisture from the air that the had started falling apart. (Loose chain links of very weak brittle metal were in the bottom of the box.) I had not mentioned that these were in need of replacement, but the dealer had replaced them and included that in the $89.00 cost. This was a real pleasure to have repaired. It's very nice to see there are still some craftsmen in business.

If you need something done fast - and quot;It's About Timeand quot; is not the place for you. However, if you want it done with care, precision, and quality I would HIGHLY recommend this shop.

The clock has never worked better, keeps good time! What made this such a great experience is that the he made small repairs included putting rings and tabs on the weight chains -- prevents the chain from slipping into the clock if you forget to pull the weights. I did not pick up the clock in a and quot;timelyand quot; manner nd the owner called me three times--very polite, patience. I highly recommend it's about time

I didn't find him very friendly, but other than that, it was okay.

WILL NOT WORK ON CLOCKS IN SAINT PAUL

A throw-back to the good old days of the neighborhood specialty repair shop. When you step inside, you know they can diagnose the problem by simply looking at it and fix anything related to clocks. They replaced the mechanism in my old wall clock and got it working again. The repair was performed in a timely manner and they called me when it was completed. I would definitely use them again!

I was very happy that I was able to have Tom fix my clock without issue.

Do be very specific about what you want done. Ask questions. They are happy to give you hints about caring for your clock. Don't expect to get your clock back promptly. It takes several weeks. I didn't compare prices with other places, but I suspect this price was reasonable for the amount of skilled work involved.

Was very pleased with work performed. They originally told me it would likely need a new movement installed and was given a price of $150. I was surprised when they called a week later and said my clock was ready to be picked up. Rather than replace the movement, they were able to repair it. The cost, therefore, was much less - $89. The clock has been working great.

I've used him several times in the 8 years I've lived here and recommend him to anyone who will listen to me. I'm always handing out his cards when people ask about clock repair. He knows what he's doing! He's patient and not condescending when he explains things. Use him!

His work is absolutely top-notch! He let me return a clock that was on clearance with no problems. He's also done several repairs for me. His prices are quite reasonable. I've used him for several years now.

Tom Trudell was extremely professional. He was punctual, knowledgeable, courteous, and he took the time to thoroughly inspect our clock prior to any service he performed. Tom educated us on service requirements while he was working. Tom also explained the reason for having regular service, and what types of problems can be caused by neglecting service. This was something we did not know, and appreciated knowing, because it saves us money in the long run. Tom seemed to give that added personal touch that you don't often see from any service providers today. He's owned his family business since 1973, and now I know why! I felt his prices were excellent for the service we received! I would definitely recommend Tom for any clock work, and will continue to use him throughout the years.
