Inspector was prompt and thorough was willing to explain problems, rate their severity,and offerred advice on possible fixes. I would definately recommend him to anyone who needed a home inspection.

I thought John did a great job. He says he has ''no threshold'' for reporting things; meaning he's going to point out any and every flaw he sees no matter how small and it's true. He'll tell you if a flaw is common and give you a ballpark estimate for the cost to repair things, but it's up to you to decide if it's significant or important enough to affect your purchase decision. I will use him next time I buy a house and I'll recommend him to others.

Great. Very thorough and competent. Walked us through all areas of the house made recommendations for future improvements. Timely and friendly.

John was great. He was a very affable guy who didn't mind having my wife and I tag along while he checked out the house (one inspector I contacted seemed a little hesitant at that idea). John gave us a thorough inspection, giving us much information about the home's systems and how they work together. He also spotted a minor problem that the sellers didn't know about (overflowing washing machine drain pipe). The only minor area he might improve is that his reports are of the checklist variety, and don't go into routine step-by-step maintenance issues, details on house systems, etc. But since we've owned a home before and we got that during his inspection, it wasn't that big a deal. We'd hire Homespections again.

All aspects of John's service were top notch. He pointed out numerous items that could use attention plus advice on how to fix when asked. Very patient in explaining everything, even answering questions not directly related to the home inspection. My son-in-law, who is a first time home buyer, really learned a lot about what it takes to maintain a house in tip-top shape (invaluable). Great sense of humor doesn't hurt either. John really seems to enjoy his work. I did not compare prices so I don't know how his price compares to other home inspectors. It seemed a little high to me given the size of the home (800 square feet, 2 bedroom, 1 bath), but I assume this is a standard price. It did include his travel time & no added fuel costs (becoming more common today). Overall, a great experience & would recommend him to any one. We came away feeling confident about the shape the house was in before buying.

I did not grade price because he had not compared it with another company. Mr. Semby did a good job and had good ideas. He is very knowledgeable.

THIS INSPECTOR CAUSED DAMAGE TO OUR HOME AND LEFT A SIGNIFICANT MESS: 1. GRIT AND A YET UNREMOVABLE MARK WAS LEFT ON A KITCHEN COUNTER 2.OUR OVEN WAS LEFT PULLED OUT FROM THE WALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE KITCHEN AND THE CABINET SURROUNDING IT WAS DAMAGED 3. THE FURNACE COVER WAS NOT PROPERLY REPLACED 4. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL DOOR WAS LEFT OPEN AND IT IS CLEARLY LOCATED IN AN AREA MY YOUNG CHILDREN PLAY 5. THIS IS A 107 YEAR OLD HOME, THE ORIGINAL ELEC BOX WAS LOCATED IN THE BACK STAIRS BUT REPLACED AND SEALED DECADES AGO. RATHER THAN CHECK FOR A MODERN ONE IN A LOGICAL PLACE LIKE THE BASEMENT, THIS INSPECTOR ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE OLD PANEL CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WALL AND LEAVING PLIES OF PAINT CHIPS ALL OVER THE FLOOR. GLAD I FOUND THIS BEFORE MY THREE YEAR OLD! THERE WERE MORE ISSUES, BUT I CAN'T FIND THE LIST. I SPENT OVER AN HOUR CLEANING UP AFTER THIS PERSON AND EVIDENCE OF HIS INCOMPETENCE REMAINS. HIS COMPLETE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND COURTESY IS ASTOUNDING! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

HE WENT THROUGH THE HOUSE CAREFULLY POINTING OUT SEVERAL ISSUES WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO BE RESOLVED. ONE ISSUE WAS PARTICULARITY CRITICAL FOR US. HE ALSO PASSED ON SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS ON HOW SOME OF THESE ISSUES MIGHT BE RESOLVED.

JOHN WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND CLEAR ABOUT THE SCOPE OF HIS INSPECTION. HE SPENT FOUR HOURS WITH US IN THE HOME AND IS AVAILABLE FOR FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS AND CLARIFICATION. WE HAVE MADE USE OF THIS. HE DID NOT GO ON THE ROOF BECAUSE OF THE HEIGHT, BUT HE DID GIVE US HIS OPINION ON IT FROM THE GROUND. HIS PRICE WAS VERY SIMILAR TO ALL THE OTHER INSPECTORS CALLED. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM. HE ONLY DOES BUYER INSPECTIONS.

JOHN IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE IN ALL FACETS OF HOME CONSTRUCTION. HE EMPHASIZED AREAS OF GREATER CONCERN ON HIS REPORT, WHICH WAS A HUGE HELP. HE WAS VERY THOROUGH AND EVEN MADE THE INSPECTION FUN. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

THIS WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. GOING INTO THIS HOME BUYING EXPERIENCE, I FEEL I UNDERSTAND MY PRIORITIES. THERE IS A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE IN THE NEW HOME AND I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME BALLPARK FIGURES FOR THE COSTS WHICH WAS VERY HELPFUL.

JOHN DID A THOROUGH JOB INSPECTING THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND GROUNDS AROUND IT. HIS PRICE WAS REASONABLE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE HOUSE HAS LARGER THAN AVERAGE SQUARE FOOTAGE.

HE WAS VERY THOROUGH, LOOKING AT ALL ASPECTS OF THE HOME, AND GAVE MANY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT WHAT WE MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT. MY HUSBAND LEARNED A LOT ABOUT THE DETAILS OF THE HOUSE AND FACILITIES.

MR. SMEBY PERFORMED A HOME INSPECTION, INCLUDING FOUNDATION, ROOF, INTERIOR, EXTERIOR, ETC. HE WALKED ME THROUGH THE PROPERTY AND SPENT ABOUT THREE HOURS ON HIS INSPECTION. AT THE END HE PROVIDED ME WITH A COPY OF THE INSPECTION AND GAVE ME A FINAL RUN THROUGH OF PROBLEMS AND POTENTIAL PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE. VERY THOROUGH, VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. HIS PRICES WERE AS LOW AS ANY OUT THERE CONSIDERING I WAS HAVING A DUPLEX INSPECTED. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

JOHN IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PERFORMED A THOROUGH INSPECTION. HE WENT THROUGH THE ENTIRE HOUSE IN GREAT DETAIL, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT, AND POINTED OUT SEVERAL AREAS TO CONSIDER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES.

J. SMEBY WAS VERY THOROUGH. WE RECEIVED THE REPORT IMMEDIATELY AT THE END OF THE INSPECTION. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES.

JOHN NOT ONLY POINTED OUT PROBLEMS WITH HOME, BUT HOW TO FIX THEM AND IN WHAT ORDER.

JOHN WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. THIS WAS A 'FOR SALE BY OWNER' AND THEY STAYED IN THE HOME DURING THE INSPECTION. JOHN WAS VERY CORDIAL AND TRIED TO PUT THEM AT EASE. EVEN UNDER THE EYES OF THE OWNER, JOHN COMPLETED HIS INSPECTION COMPLETELY AND VERY THOROUGHLY. I WOULD RECOMMEND JOHN TO ANYONE. I'M THINKING THAT INSPECTIONS NEED TO BE DONE EVERY SO OFTEN TO HELP MAINTAIN YOUR CURRENT HOME AS WELL AS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF YOUR NEW HOME. CALL JOHN TODAY.
