I have worked with countless contractors over the years, and this is the worst experience I have ever had. My husband and I called and scheduled a specific service, was quoted an amount of $438 and gave my credit card to pay for: main line maintenance cleaning and a camera inspection following it. I was acting as a realtor to sell my clients home, and my husband as their general contractor. We needed to determine that the line to the street didnt have a major blockage, since a scope of the line had been done in the home inspection and showed something blocking it. I explained all this on the phone. When they arrived they started a camera inspection - the wrong service right off the bat. The homeowner was there and explained they had to clear the line before scoping it as scope had already been done. They told the homeowner they had to do a hydro jet cleaning and told him he had to sign for work to continue. He openly told him he didnt know what that meant but said ok if it was the cleaning I had scheduled (I had agreed to cover the cost to get the sale to go through.) They never explained to him this was a completely different and extremely expensive service that was not needed to ensure there wasn't a blockage. Gopher sewer added on and performed this additional service that cost over $900 on top of the $438. I was not contacted to authorize or discuss any additional charges, and then they billed me for more than 3 times the amount I agreed to- for a total of $1358. I attempted to resolve this in an amicable way via text, phone call (was yelled at and hung up on by owner Pedro) and email. The tech then called me and was very nice and calm on the phone and said he'd work on a "deeper discount." I never heard back from them after that. I kept attempting to contact their office with no reply. They then contacted an attorney to try collect their "debt" and are threatening me with a defamation lawsuit for posting negative reviews. I'm disputing this additional debt and paid the amount I agreed to of $438. It sounds like the owner has a history of aggressive and volatile behavior. I would not work with them, or get your work scope agreement in writing so they can't attempt to charge you extra.
Response from Gopher Sewer & Drain
"Hello again [Member Name Removed], You called our office as a realtor to schedule services for a homeowner that was selling his house. You scheduled a main line cleaning and camera inspection to provide to the buyers of the home. When our technician arrived, the homeowner was concerned that there was a lot of grease and build up in the line. He wanted the line in the best condition possible to avoid any issues with the buyers. Our technician gave him an estimate for a hydro jet cleaning as the optimal way to thoroughly clean out all the grease and debris in the line. The homeowner scheduled, authorized, and signed for the work. The homeowner was present throughout. If our technician is dealing in person with the property owner, why would they need to call you, the realtor, for authorization? The homeowner is the authority when it comes to work done at their property. As far as the owner’[Member Information Removed] “aggressive and volatile” behavior - we have multiple employees who were present for your phone call that would dispute this portrayal. When you interrupt and do not allow someone to speak, they may try to speak over you. He did not hang up on you, you hung up on him. We can probably just agree to disagree here again. Our lawyer contacted you and the homeowner as a debt collector. This is our standard procedure for outstanding debts, certainly not an attempt at intimidation. We will leave this as it is in collection, and hopefully will be able to work out a payment with the homeowner of the property."

Pedro was on time and prompt. He quickly re-attached the disposal unit which had been dislodged and only charged for the service call. The rate was reasonable for a Saturday emergency visit. I had called 4 other companies which were unable to respond promptly. I would use this service again.

Excellent job. Pablo was punctual, very professional and answered all my questions promptly with courtesy and enough detail. He even took the time to check the plumbing in my garage to make sure that water was running again. He cleaned up very thoroughly after was done. I will definitely hire them again in the future. Thank you!

It went well. Miguel arrived within an hour of my calling them and replaced the garbage disposer within half an hour. He cleaned up everything and made sure it all worked before he left.

Smoothly. Rapid diagnosis of problem, all necessary equipment on the truck. Laid down drop cloth, cleaned up afterward. Took about 20 minutes from arrival to departure.

Pedro does excellent work. He is friendly, very professional and is fair in his pricing. Unlike other drain cleaning services he has the necessary equipment to handle everything from small to large projects. I would highly recommend him.
