furnace tune up for fall

Long story: this was the third AC repair company that I had come out and look at the situation. The first wanted over $1,000. The second wanted $800. Neither was willing to break down the cost and tell me how much would be parts vs labor vs service charge. Golden Valley gave me a range over the phone with breakdown. They came in at the low end of the estimate. Both the scheduler/manager that I spoke with for the appointment and the installer were very nice to work with. The installer also offered an explanation as to why the board broke in the first place and fixed it such that it wont overheat again (side note: Sabre/Gonyea who built this house in 2013 placed the board directly on the duct, causing it to overheat - Gonyea is not a good builder, they are sloppy and thoughtless as shown on this case and several others I have experienced in my house). Anyways, Golden Valley Heating and Air was great and I will use them for AC/furnace work going forward.

We were connected with Golden Valley Heating via the Costco reseller program. Scheduling an estimate was really easy. It only took about 30 minutes start to finish. They showed us all the options on Lennox products and gave good info about the differences between models and options. They also said they would be able to move the location of our A/C unit to a different side of our house (freeing up backyard space). They arrived right at 7am the morning of the installation. They were done by 3pm. They communicated well with us and we felt really happy with their work. One of the crew accidentally bumped our laundry sink faucet (very old) and caused a leak. They promised to take care of it. This morning they came and replaced the entire faucet and some of the pipes as well as the laundry hoses to the washing machine. We were VERY grateful they not only fixed the problem, but went above and beyond to make it right. We ended up getting about 25% off through Costco and utility rebates. So out of pocket it's going to run us about $7300. We highly recommend this company.

Everything was great. I asked a lot of questions about the preventative maintenance (furnace check-up) and the new equipment (humidifier). The technician was very experienced and answered all my questions and provided even more details.

OMG! It went great! Tom was outstanding. He called as he was on his way and arrived perfectly on time. 3 weeks earlier, I had called another AC company to fix my AC that stopped working, and that previous company messed it up. After this earlier company "fixed it", my AC still wouldn't cool down properly, it leaked constantly now to boot, they left exposed wires and a dirty condenser (which is likely what caused the problem to begin with). This previous company wouldn't come back to fix the problems (leaking AC, wouldn't cool properly) and then wouldn't return my call. So I then contacted this company, Golden Valley Heating and Air, for an AC & Furnace Tune Up and they outdid themselves. Not only did they do a great job on the tune up, but they also fixed the issues that that last company caused and broke, Tom, the technician who showed up, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and very non-assuming. He was very kind and patient, and took time to answer my questions, and walk me through what was wrong, and what my options were. He ended up doing a bit more extra work than what is included in the routine tune up, and he only charged a nominal fee for doing so (it was very fair, and it was definitely needed!). As it is, he has to order a couple of parts and come back another time, and I am not charged another trip charge, as it's a continuation of this job. Again, very fair, and it's a nice surprise! This company is the one to use and keep. They have a customer for life in us. My recommendation to you, Angie's List Readers: To get the best value, call them and set up a Routine Joint AC & Heater Tune Up Appointment (do both at the same time and save some money, $169 total for both at the same time when I did it). It might not be an immediate appointment (they are a great company and in demand - my appointment was about 11 days out). And during their appointment, along with the tune up, they will access your AC &/or Heater needs, and if, and only if it's needed, they will recommend what is needed, and then you decide if you want to do it. Then I would also recommend for you to do this routine AC & Heater Tune Up every year going forward, and likely miss out on any unexpected and expensive repairs. If you need a new AC and/or Heater, I would also recommend this company. Plan it in advanced, and try scheduling it during a slow time, and save a ton. Thank you GV Heating and Air! You restored my confidence after the previous bad experience I had with another provider.

Work performed as required and was quick

Technician was on-time and professional. Worked quickly. This was my first time using this company and I will call on them again in the future. Because of the early heat wave, it was nearly a month before I could get scheduled, but I respect them putting customers without A/C as a priority.

It went well. There was a vibration after initial installation of the new blower motor, but the installer figured out what the issue was and reduced the RPMs and the problem was so reduced as to no longer matter.

Showed up at the agreed time, went right to work, cleaned up after they were done. Knew what they were supposed to do. I was pleased with their work.

I got a technician out within 3 hours of my call. He arrived during the window of time. He was courteous and knowledgeable. The repair was done quickly.

The work was done quickly, and the new humidifier works great.

Golden Valley was only 1 of 2 companies to actually quote us the correct size. Told us about products that were larger due to us asking about them, but were adamant that we didn't need the larger size for our house. Workers were very professional and were on time for the installation appointment. Very knowledgeable and explained things when we had questions. Very happy with the product and installation of both units. Will definitely use them in the future.
