They did a great job. Very impressed. You can tell they have been in business for 40 years. Very honest, reliable, and fixed a couple things that didn't even need fixing. Plus told me about a couple more issues that needed to be addressed, and gave us advice on how to do that more simply, so we could save money on that as well. Had our initial assessment done by Home Energy Squad--our attic space was confusing, to say the least--so the Home Energy Squad had thought more work would have needed to be done than actually did. But he said he'd never quite seen an attic space like ours in 40 years, and said it made sense why they would have thought it would require more work. Anyway! He could have done the work as Home Energy squad assessed, and made more money, but said there was an easier way to do it which was also more cost effective for us. Plus they were really good with our dogs, which if you know us, is a big stinking deal. I could tell the difference immediately. Now I am excited to see how much warmer it will be here in the Winter...but I can wait ;)

It went very well. We had some pretty bad ice dam issues last winter and had him out in the winter to do an estimate...as well as the general issue that our attic is super hot in summer and cold in the winter (lots of leaks and little insulation). However, we didn't get the work done until August. We obtained three estimates for this work. Steve used an instrument to detect temperature in the walls/attic spaces. His estimate was in line with other estimates I got, but more so than others, he took the time to explain the likely issues in the house and how he'd handle them. I'm not an insulation expert but did a fair amount of reading on-line...his explanations were more thorough and reflected common issues with the style of house (e.g., sealing rafters that go under the floor in second story bungalows...a big issue for heat loss but not at all addressed by one of the other guys). He was the only one to take careful measurements and map out room dimensions, during estimation, to figure out what things would take. There were some issues he encountered along the way which he handled. It changed the work up a little but he didn't try to charge extra for it. I think he assumes that there'll always be some novel problem solving on these jobs with old houses. He even fixed a couple of the roof vents that our roofers had installed incorrectly (holes too small for vent size). He did a pre- post- blower door test to show improvement in leaking..although my major concern is ice dams and we won't know about that for a bit...will update after this winter. I noticed some of the other comments about responsiveness...and I can say that Steve (the owner) can take a little time (a few days) to respond to calls/e-mails. When things were scheduled (estimate and work), he was on time as scheduled. The person in the office is a little quicker than Steve. This said, when he was with us and/or doing the work, he was completely engaged with me, my wife, and our questions - and completely engaged in the work. He didn't just drop off a crew to do the job; he was part of the crew doing the work the entire day. He struck me as quite conscientious in making sure a good job was done.

They do blown-in insulation and didn't do it thoroughly the first time. It took a very long time to get them to come out. They did come out and finished it to my satisfaction. They aren't very good at returning phone calls.

They cleaned up very well, explained what they were doing and everything went well. They quality of the service was great and they two men who did the work were very nice. The price was worth the work.

He came and looked at places where we might need insulation. He suggested also doing the attic but we couldn't afford it. There was a crawl place above our front entryway that wasn't insulated and the front door leaked badly, so he suggested insulating both of these. He followed up and did these things, and it helped our heating situation a lot.

Steve came out for the estimate. He seemed knowledgeable about what's required in older homes. He also seemed to have a good understanding of what made sense and what would be expensive "overkill". His price was the second-best estimate. The process went exactly as planned. He and his crew came out on the expected day. They did the job in a day and left it all clean and neat. The final price was the estimated price. No problems at all.

I am very happy with the result. The work took two 9:00am-3:00pm days with Steve and one employee. They were conscientious, detail-focused, friendly, and did a good job cleaning up after themselves. Steve was always willing to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. They did the attic first, then the walls, then the garage. The front face of the house has brick and wood siding, so that face was insulated from the inside (i.e. through the drywall in my living room and bedrooms). The other walls were done from the outside by talking off the cedar shake siding and then replacing it afterwards. All of the holes were filled with a tight-fitting styrofoam plug, and then drywall was also patched with joint compound over the plug (I will have to paint it myself). Steve also did a blower door test before and after, and was able to demonstrate approximately a 25% air volume reduction due to his work.

Great! We got a couple estimates and Steve's was the best one. He's been doing this a long time so he really knows what he's talking about. In addition, the other companies were scheduling 8 to 10 weeks away, but due to a cancellation, Steve was able to come and do the work the very next day!

The job went great. Steve came over, provided and estimate and the final cost was exactly what he had provided as an estimate. They were timely, cleaned up afterwards and I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat.

Very responsive, friendly, seem to know their work. It was noisy, but that is unavoidable. They fixed holes in the roof, before blowing insulation in.

Steve came over the previous week to examine our house and provide an estimate. He was one of three people examine our home, although only he and one other contractor delivered an estimate. Steve was available to complete the work first. He agreed to come over at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning for the first of a three day job. He and Rich arrived on time at 8:30 sharp! I was very happy with that. The first day they spent on the roof and in the attic. The second day they drilled the holes in our plaster walls and blew cellulose insulation into the needed places, which was nearly every outside facing wall. They covered over the holes with a plug and some patching material. (That will be simple to paint over when its that time.) They had a few hours of work remaining today (Thursday the 22nd) in which they performed a second blower test to find the remaining large gaps upstairs. I was very happy with their timeliness, their estimate, and their friendliness while working.

Exceptional. He was the cheapest of 5 bids (most expensive was $600 more). Steve was professional, efficient, clean and did excellent work. We had a highly rated plasterer, Tony Steffens (from Angie's list), hired to do other work (plaster walls where we had new copper piping put in), and he commented on how he often has to redo inside work over insulation holes, and that Steve had done a great job. Steve also found in the attic, where 1989 insulation was poorly put in, and he put in additional insulation at no extra dollar cost (it did cost him extra time and materials). He did an UNBELIEVABLE job. I would hire him again in a snap. Oh, and he cleaned up very well after himself and covered everything with plastic (he left a whole roll of plastic for our painting project, which followed his plastering). This is the first time in my life that I am sending him an additional $50 check for work done above the call of duty.
