DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR TO REPAIR YOUR ROOF! Our siding was cracked during the removal and installation of the roof, we now have exposed flashing and a hole in the side of our house, caulking was not used to cover gaps, resulting in leaks that we did not have before, step flashing was reused with no nails or caulking to cover the existing holes, nails were hammered directly through our crown molding, decking was installed incorrectly, debris was left in the gutter. Please see supporting photos. We hired Elysian Construction to replace our roof in June 2022. Communication was incredibly poor from the get-go. They were extremely responsive when it came to scheduling the initial inspection, in fact, they sent someone out the very next day, and were eager to have me sign a contract so that they could begin the work. After signing the contract, everything went down hill. I selected shingles and gutters on July 14th, and wrote the initial check on July 21st, which was cashed the exact same day. After the check was cashed, I didn't hear anything from Elysian for FOUR WEEKS. I continuously reached out to various individuals for updates, and to find out when the actual work would be performed so that I could plan accordingly. When I finally did receive a response, I was told that their main office was without Internet for 10-days, causing them to fall behind. In that same response, I was informed that additional photos of the property were needed before Elysian could begin the work, even though photos had already been taken on two prior occasions. On August 9th, I responded to Elysian's email re: the need for additional photos, and received zero response. Meanwhile, a gentleman named Zach showed-up completely unannounced, while I was in a meeting, to take photos of the property with a drone, only to discover that we live in a "No Fly Zone", and he was unable to take photos. On August 30th, I reached out to Elysian for an update, at which time I was informed that our roof replacement was tentatively scheduled for the week of September 12th. I received no further correspondence from Elysian Construction after August 30th, despite asking them to keep me in-the-loop, and to let me know what day/time the work would begin. Our backyard is cat-fenced with specialized cat fencing, so I specifically asked Elysian to let me know when their crew would be arriving the week of the 12th so that I could prepare the backyard/back gates for entry. Their crew showed-up completely unannounced at 7:00am and let themselves into the backyard, damaging one of our back gates, and completely destroying our cat fencing. There was a very clear disconnect between the roofing crew and the main office, as it quickly became apparent that nothing had communicated to the crew. During their lunch break, the crew napped in our lawn chairs and hammocks and littered our backyard with empty Coca Cola cans. During the roofing process, several of our window screens were torn by falling shingles, our side garden was demolished, and a roof vent in our attic was broken. Elysian failed to ask us if we had an open attic and so everything that we had in storage in our attic was covered in black, sooty roofing debris. Post clean-up, we also found several nails in our driveway, and one of our vehicles got a flat tire. During the gutter installation they installed a gutter directly across our back sidewalk/walking path, which was not up to code. It took weeks of back of forth before they sent someone back out to correct the problem. Elysian issued minimal credits for the items that were damaged. Almost one-year later, we are still left with torn window screens and a broken back gate because we could not afford to replace what was damaged. The icing on the cake? The roof to our front porch is now leaking. When we hired Elysian, they told me they offer a lifetime warranty. I reluctantly reached back out to Elysian to inquire about the warranty, and to see if they could send someone out to assess and repair the porch roof and aforementioned issues. It took them three weeks to respond, and I have since been given the run-around. I would not recommend Elysian Construction to anyone.

Horrible! They do not work well with mortgage companies, insurance companies, hi likability you may not get insurance proceeds due to not meeting extensions are deadlines, threatening calls, do not finish jobs ( huge amount of water in basement, no bill cheats, no authorization of payment schedule. Very unprofessional.! If you go with this company, high likability, you will be paying for everything out of pocket due to the lack of ability to work with insurance companies in mortgage companies! They still have not corrected my gutter issue after many attempts to communicate with them!

I had a little trouble at first but that was my misunderstanding of the process. I found Elysian Construction to be very professional and was informed of what to expect all along the way. Everything went flawlessly. The crew showed up at 7 a.m. and were finished and yard/area cleaned up by 3:30. I love the looks of the new roof and would recommend them to anyone.

As is likely with any construction project involving insurance money, there was the typical back and forth to get the project scoped and scheduled that was frustrating at the onset. However, once we were officially on the books, the crew that came out was really great and the project was completed on time! One year later, we sold our house and the buyer's inspectors noted some concerns on the work that was completed on the roof. We contacted Elysian who assured us that the work was covered under a 10 year warranty but that it would take a number of weeks to get someone out to check out the concerns due to it being summer/high season. Whilst in discussions with the corporate office - Chuck Stuurop (one of their field specialists) took it upon himself to make a special trip out to not only confirm it was a minor misunderstanding and not an issue with the roof (a few of the adhesive plastic strips weren't fully removed when the shingles were installed), but also to check out our neighbor's roof (that was done around the same time) to ensure that no issues existed for them either. It was SO GREAT and SO APPRECIATED to have Chuck help us at such a stressful/time sensitive time (pending house sale) - it meant the world to us to have the human side come through vs the corporate hedging you often find with warranty situations. THANK YOU SO MUCH CHUCK - YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Elysian did a fantastic job and are extremely customer oriented. They took the time to explain every detail and made excellent recommendations. They dealt with my insurance company and I only paid my out of pocket deductible to the insurance company. The work was done on schedule and our new roof looks fantastic. The new gutters are awesome and I had them put in leaf guards so I never have to climb a ladder again. They had great communication from beginning to end. My wife and I are very happy with the work done by Elysian.

Extremely professional, polite and kind and smart. The representative from Elysian name is Douglas McDaniel… knows all the “ins and outs” of dealing with our insurance company and wicked smart in discovering the evidence of our storm damage. I have a son with Special Needs and he was in particular kind and gracious around him!! That is the kind of service you can’t buy… but we received it. Respectfully, Pat Ebertz St Cloud, MN

UPDATE 8/3/21 - Despite Elysian offering to complete all insurance contact from start to finish, they dropped the ball so I am unable to get my insurance claim closed out. Today I received an attorney letter threatening legal action if I do not pay the money owed by the insurance company. IT IS MY OPINION THAT ELYSIAN ARE DELIBERATELY DECEPTIVE AND PREY ON VULNERABLE OLDER AND MEDICALLY COMPROMISED NC RESIDENTS. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID!!! Unfortunately the sales pitch suckered me into what was ultimately a very disappointing experience. They offered to help with the insurance company which didn't happen. I'm still having issues trying to close out the claim, siding damage, and interior damage. The guys that replaced the roof pretty much trashed my home - they took some of my garden items off the patio without a word (?!!) and threw them back on the patio wherever they liked when they were done. They broke my garden hose without a word and left it unspooled dragged across the patio to boot. A short while into them commencing work I saw large amounts of trash falling from the roof - I ran out to move the rest of my furniture (including $500 barbecue) to try to rescue it from being damaged by the raining trash. I had to hire a local handyman to pick out pieces of roofing from the bushes at the front of my property, and I'm still finding more pieces every few days. There are large broken holes in the bushes, again from all the trash they threw down from the roof. Multiple large areas of siding were covered in mud and dirt which will require a power washing to resolve. There was also large mud splashes all up my front door and entryway. They removed two beds of mulch that I had to re-cover. They also smashed four of my solar lights. I reached out to the sales guy when I discovered this the evening of the work, and his response was "I'll be coming out to look." However I have not seen him at my property since. He did not address or apologize my dismay at all the damage I brought to his attention, and did not seem to have any interest the photos I took as evidence. It's hard to believe a decent job was done when this is the level of "care" that was taken. I would urge others not to make the mistake I did, and to hire a different company. NOT Elysian!!!

We had them replace our roof and Fascia and because it wasn't done right the first time we are having issues with it now and they are not wanting to fix it. We even had someone from their company come and tell us that it wasn't done right the first time and still they will not take responsibility for fixing what they didn't do right the first time. I would not recommend them.

Things went very well. Someone from Elysian was in communication with us from the very beginning. Tim, our salesman was great at following up without being annoying, the administration did a great job informing us of the upcoming timing of the project, the guys working on the roof were fast, efficient, and did a great job. Traci from the billing side of the house followed up with my questions and kept me in the loop after the project was completed. Everything went great!

I am overall very happy with the outcome, no complaints! They have a great team and a great company to work with because of how detail oriented they are. They really know what they're doing. The crew was clean and very nice. We even offered them eggrolls and water bottles. All that hard work must build an appetite. I highly recommend people to go with Elysian, they do great work for a great price.

Elysian was great! They were so helpful in walking us through the entire Insurance Claim. We had never gone through anything like this before and our Field Supervisor and the entire staff at Elysian did such a GREAT JOB of handling everything from beginning to end. Our Insurance Company only wanted to pay for a roof repair and part of our siding, but Elysian continued to work with them for several months and finally they were able to get everything agreed to!!! We could not be happier with our choice and we love the new look of our home

My insurance company was giving me the run around and only paid for two sides of siding, the purposed match was unacceptable and i felt like i was hitting a brick wall with my ins comp. Elysian stepped in and assisted greatly, I ended up with all new James Hardie siding and the staff was a pleasure to work with. If you are being mistreated by your insurance company, I would recommended Elysian construction.

These guys are pros...they where very helpful from start to finish, dealing with the insurance company, the labor, communication, and being mindful of my landscaping, I would definitely recommend!

I have a historic home in the East Isles Neighborhood. The roof was approximately 20 years old and needed to be replaced. We wanted to work with a company that has experience with historic homes and found that Elysian from a recommendation from a friend. We felt very comfortable working with Elysian because they have a lot of experience working with older homes and had done a lot of work in our neighborhood. We were very pleased with the process. The crew was very clean, considerate and worked fast. The roof looks amazing and really makes our house shine. We would highly recommend this company.
