"Thanks [Member Name Removed] - we appreciate the kind words. Glad you love your newly finished floors! Todd from Earl'[Member Information Removed] Floor Sanding"
"Thank you for the kind words. Your floors definitely had their chchallenges. Glad you love the final results! Todd - Earl's Floor Sanding"
"We give options for finish with varying VOC levels and accompanying smell. Oil was chosen as the finish. Sorry to hear of the family members issue but I'm not sure how we are accountable for this. Homeowner wanted some trim work done post job which was not part of our estimate. I stated that we would try to run out and complete this when we were back out to the area. Well, we don't work in the area very often and so our ability to run out for something like this wasn't realistic as a stand alone job. My recommendation was to hire a handyman service who could probably run out a lot sooner for a similar price. Again, it wasn't part of our job on the bid. We also did not ignore her. Our intention was to still take care of it when we were back to a realistic distance to her house on another job. I offered to have an employee do it on the weekend for a time/material charge but she refused to pay a slightly higher price to have said employee take care of it on his own time."
Great. I'd had Todd over to do my new house and had him go back to my old house and re-do the floors there. The day the job started he called me with a couple of questions and then they got right to work. No surprises on this job as there was no carpet covering the floors. They replaced a couple of boards that were broken but I can't tell which ones.
They were in & out on the schedule they'd given me and were great at answering my questions. They work really clean too. I didn't have a lot of dust on my cabinets, etc.
Really well...when I pulled up the carpet we saw the floors had previously been sanded by someone who didn't know what they were doing and it took a lot of effort to fix that. Then, there were repairs needed in multiple places where "new" (salvaged) wood had to be laced in - including the spot where someone had put some oak boards in the middle of my maple/birch floors.
All of the repairs also meant that I had to stain the floors on the first level. Todd advised that even though the wood they were using was salvaged and somewhat old it wasn't 100 yrs old like my floors and it would really stand out if I went natural. I agreed staining would be better but asked to go as light as possible. It turned out GREAT. The wood grain really looks awesome.
Upstairs went smoothly. No patching needed and those I could keep natural.
One stair tread needed to be replaced (it was pressed wood / MDF when I pulled up the carpet). They did that repair and then stained to match.
Was higher than original estimate - but all the patching and then the stain on the first floor were extra's I added on.
Everyone who's been in raves about my floors. You wouldn't believe the transformation!
"Thank you sir! Your old floor had it's challenges but it turned out great. Look forward to future work. Thanks again, Todd"
"We thank you for the business on this challenging job. A lot of custom patchwork on a 100 plus year old home was completed. The surprise was that the floor was on a sleeper system vs directly on top of a regular subfloor. Extra time/materials were used and homeowner not charged in getting it right. During the patchwork phase, the drywall was damaged. Human error happens sometimes unfortunately. To be clear though, the walls were still in the drywall mud phase and male homeowner mentioned it wasn't a big deal as he would take care of it. The professionalism and cleanup comments are confusing and likely tied to what happened to our floor waste/garbage bag that we left outside overnight. (saw dust can be a fire hazard if left inside) Male homeowner (nobody met female homeowner who left comments) called me and stated on the 2nd morning of our work that our lunch garbage was left laying around outside of the bag. Myself as the owner was very frustrated and contacted employees about this. They swore up and down that it wasn't possible and everything was in the garbage bags when they left for the day. Our best guess is something got into the bags that evening(raccoon?) and wanted a part of that days uneaten lunch. There wasn't enough waste to warrant a dumpster yet too much to fill the garbage bin before there next pickup. We appreciate the business and the nice letter grades. The member comments don't sync with those grades, but I can assure you the floors turned out great for what we had to work with, on time and on budget."
