"Response in short- We never received a down payment on the drywall project Created a schedule and stuck to it with additional work performed Cleaned up each day as best as possible knowing the carpet would be rolled up and discarded Yes, I am a nice guy and the work completed was acceptable Between a rock and a hard place, I had to walk away but it was with earned money Full length Response- We did receive a down payment for a separate exterior project with the concrete steps leading to the pool. It got cold early this year(winter 2018/2019) and we were unable to complete the concrete project until spring. We completed the demo and begun to plan and build the concrete forms. With the ground being as cold as it was and then having an early cold snap, I made the executive decision to hold off on the completion of the concrete steps until spring. Laura wasn't happy she had to wait and either were we. Then Laura invited me into her home to help with a basement renovation project they were getting started. I provided a proposal including a segment of the sheetrock work, they agreed to the price and I moved forward with the project in good faith as we revised the proposal. After completing the sheetrocking, taping, mudding of the new front bedroom ceiling and the addition of the removal of wallpaper and the application of skim coatings needed to restore, I was surprised to find that they had no intention of paying me and had hired another contractor to complete their basement project. Laura was acting in the role of a general contractor on her home renovation, I was working with her through the design and build process at my expense. She began to be rude and undermining as well as condescending. I overheard(Through the floor) her on the phone with her husband talking about how she was going to hide my tools. At the end she cursed at me and threatened that youd be seeing me in small claims court If you don't pay what you owe us. I explained to her that after the work I had performed they actually owed me more than the down payment they gave me for the exterior project."
