About us

I have a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York city (this trained me to look at things with a critical eye). I founded the "Gentleman Carpenter Co" in the 1980's. After 22 years of residential and commercial construction I decided to become a home inspector in 1998. I use my experience to help my clients make informed decisions. I do not use subs.

Called Alan the week prior and we were finally able to work out a time for him to come by. He was very efficient, was done in ~90 minutes and had the report filed within 2 days with the city. Very personable, honest guy. Good value.

We've used Alan over the last couple years to do TIH inspections as well as buyer's inspections. He is one of the best inspectors that I've ever worked with. He is very thorough, and provides very detailed, matter-of-fact reports that provide a realistic picture of a home's condition. Most of the homes we've had Alan inspect have been older homes, and he is especially good at knowing what could be, and what probably isn't going to be, an issue in an older house. I would never buy or sell a home without Alan giving it a good going-over first!
