In June 2008, we were hit with a huge hailstorm that dropped baseball size hail. Almost immediately, the neighborhood was flooded with roofing representatives looking for work. When Cedar Valley showed up, I was interested because they were not a fly-by-night operation, and they told me that they would handle everything with my insurance company and getting a new roof replaced, I could just sit back and relax. They got things moving incredibly fast within a week they had the insurance adjuster out there with detailed analysis of the damage. By the next week, they had a crew out there to work on the roof and they worked harder than anyone I have ever seen - we have a very large roof and it was done within a day and a half. The roof was beautiful, I was very happy and I even started recommending them to co-workers, it was what happened after the roof was complete that changed my opinion. After it was complete, I discovered ny satellite dish was misaligned, I called my sales representative who told me to find someone to realign it. DirecTV had a 4 week waiting list, and that is a long time to go without TV, so I had to do extensive search to find a private contractor. While I was reimbursed for the expenses, I believe it should have been Cedar Valley's responsibility following the completion of the project to ensure that the dish was properly realigned, and when it wasn't, find someone to quickly realign it with minimum effort from my part. During the sales pitch Cedar Valley told me I would be responsible for payment once I received it from my insurance company, and they would be fully responsible to deal with the insurance company to ensure that payment was made. Due to the large size of the claim, the insurance company pays only a partial amount immediately and the remainder upon formal proof that the work was completed. However, shortly after the work was completed and prior to receiving the final payment, I started receiving calls from Cedar Valley's Collections department. I spoke to a manager at Cedar Valley and my sales representative, who apologized and said that shouldn't have happened, but I still continued to receive calls from collections until the payment finally arrived from the insurance company. Cedar Valley placed a big tacky sign in my yard (which is expected, but it was without my permission). However, after two months it was still in my yard, and I was getting a little sick of it, and after my experience with their Collections department, I didn't want to advertise them anymore. So I e-mailed the sales representative that I wanted it removed, and he never responded. I eventually had to remove them myself. Later, I discovered a couple of their signs in the woods in my back yard, in fact I just found another one today (9 months after the completion of the job). My neighbors may have thrown them back there, but they probably did so after they also became sick of seeing the signs in their yards.
