High pressure sales. Would not service my spa in time for winter and it froze up. Offered to help me file an insurance claim and told me to say it was due to an electrical storm so State Farm would pay the claim.

Like most thing a pool or spa needs parts and service. I went in to buy parts like I have in the past and the part was $199 but listed as $63 for Cal Spa directly. I asked why the big difference? The parts guy turned into a jerk and told me to go by the parts elsewhere. A couple of winters ago I had to buy a heater and pump from these guys. The heater was $197, the pump $599 and that was with a discount. I looked up the part numbers and found the same heater sells for $104-120 and the pump $249-325. $$$$$$ NEVER AGAIN!

We have used them in the past and I think that they switched hands. We bought a couple of spas from them in the past. The last cover that we bought from them went bad after a year. They were pretty good the first time, but it wasn?t that good the second time. The guy was good. They were punctual and professional.

We purchased a new hot tub cover from Cal Spa in Jan. 2008. They told us it had a 3 year warranty. After a year and a half the cover became frayed and has several small holes in it. As a result, water has soaked the foam core and rusted the metal supports and the side with the damage collapsed rendering the cover useless and unusable. When we contacted Cal Spa we were told they were not responsible for the cover, even though it clearly has their name stamped on the cover. We filed a warranty claim with calcoverproducts.com, who makes the cover and were denied because the indicated that "unfortunately, we not cover water damage to the foam insert." Our complaint is that Cal Spa sold us the product; they took the order, took our money, delivered the product. Then when something went wrong, they put up their hands and said, thats not our fault, we don't make the cover, you have to deal with calcoverproducts.com. THey have not assisted us in anyway, even having us file a claim directly with calcoverproducts.com rather than handling it for us. At one point they told us they would sell us a new foam insert, then never delivered or followed up on that assertion either. We would like Cal Spa to assist us with our warranty issues or honor the product with their name on it and get us a new cover.

They were very professional, responsive and friendly. They did a very good job and I was very happy with their service. Later, there was some repair to be done and I called them. They came immediately and fixed the problem.

We did not have enough room to fully lift the cover with the EZ lift, however, the delivery crew installed this one anyway. They told my daughter that when the snow and ice melted we should empty the spa and move it 6 inches to make room for the new lift cover to operate correctly. We did try that but the hot tub was just too heavy. We now have a spa that we are not fully able to use as the cover only lifts to uncover half of the tub. We have attempted to call Cal Spa four times. The last time I spoke to Jeff personally and he indicated that he had not heard about this before even though I had spoken to 2 different people and kept being routed to voice mail to leave a message. He said he would look into it and get back to me. That was 2 weeks ago. I called him again this week, he was not in so I left yet another message. He has not returned my call. this issue is unresolved.

MANY SERVICE CALLS, MANY SERVICE CALL CHARGES, BUT NO SUCCESS. WHEN I CALLED THE MANAGER TO EXPLAIN MY DISSATISFACTION, HE DISPLAYED VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND ATTITUDE.

"MEMBERS SPA WAS DELIVERED ON 5/26/1995. MEMBER CONTACTED US IN LATE JANUARY OF 2004 WITH A SPA PROBLEM. WE MADE A TRIP TO THE MEMBERS HOME AND FOUND THE SPA FROZEN. AFTER THAWING OUT THE SPA WE FOUND THE ORIGINAL MOTOR TO BE DEFECTIVE. AT THIS POINT WE REPLACED THE PUMP AND MOTOR. APPROX 30 DAYS LATER IN LATE FEB 2004 THE MEMBER CALLED AND STATED THE SPA WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE MAIN BREAKER TRIPPING. WE FOUND THE ORIGINAL OZONATER TO BE DEFECTIVE WHICH WE UNPLUGGED AND DID NOT REPLACE PER THE MEMBERS REQUEST. WE ALSO REPLACED A THERMOSTAT. THE MEMBER STATES HE HAD MANY SERVICE CALLS WHEN IN FACT WE RESPONDED TO 3 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS ON A 9 YEAR OLD SPA. WE WORKED WITH THE MEMBER ON THE PRICE OF THE REPAIRS AND WE DISCOUNTED THE PARTS AND LABOR. OUR COMPANY HAS BEEN IN BUISNESS SINCE 1991 AND SERVICE CLOSE TO 9000 SPAS AND WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT RECORD WITH THE BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU. WE DISAGREE WITH THE MEMBERS COMMENTS AND ASSESSMENT OF OUR SERVICE."
