Brownsmith Restoration

Our house is a bit tricky to work in as it's in a historical district and all renovations that affect the exterior of the home (including something as minor seeming as an egress window) have to be approved by the city and inspected afterwards.  It's a rather strict process and having to follow a city approval so carefully scared off at least one other contracter we discussed this job with.

I was very happy with the work they did.  The room is beautiful.  Their bid was very competitive.  James and Mike are very nice and easy to work with.  Very responsive!  The subcontracters they used were very good too.  I totally trusted them.

Brownsmith was also very helpful with suggesting flooring options and really explaining everything from start to finish to this new homeowner.  Their suggestions were excellent, Mike and James both have excellent design senses and really care about making homes in this city beautiful and comfortable.

Mike and James's bid was very competitive. They were very responsive by e-mail and phone throughout the process. Everything was done on time. All of the subcontractors seemed really good too. The room looks absolutely great! They turned a dark cave of a room into a really cozy space that my guests have loved. Mike and James had tons of great suggestions. Their company really specializes in restoring old South Minneapolis houses. They had so much knowledge and many smart ideas. And they are just really nice and pleasant to work with. They never made me feel stupid even when I asked really basic questions (I'm a new homeowner, so I had a lot of very basic questions.) It was a no-stress process for me. I'm very pleased and would certainly recommend Brownsmith, especially if you live in an older house.
