He did a great job. Covered our new cabinets. Was very careful with our under counter lighting fixtures and cleaned up. I have even had a follow up question on the seal coat for the grout and he called me back right away!
He is not the cheapest bid around but he really impressed us in knowing what he was doing and did a very top notch job! If you don't want to worry...hire him!

I contacted Kelly after I selected the ceramic tile for the backsplash in my remodeled kitchen. We corresponded by email, which I prefer to playing "phone tag". I sent pictures and measurements of the kitchen. Kelly emailed a proposal and then ordered the tile.
The installation took two days to complete. Kelly was punctual and professional. More importantly, his work is of the highest quality. I had some handmade tile that Kelly incorporated beautifully into the overall design.
The entire process was easy and enjoyable. I couldn't be happier with the results!

Kelly came to my house to reveiw the job well in advance of work scheduling. He brough many examples (photos) of his work with him, which was nice. And he came across as a very trustworth artisan type of guy. I liked him from the start. I had taken out a couple of competing bids, and those prices undercut Kelly by almost $1000, but after seeing the quality of his work, and listening to him explain how he would approach the job in terms of installing the shower pan, I was more confident with him that the other companies I spoke with. he also communicated well over email and had a lot of good design ideas for my space. His initial estimate, tile unchosen, was right around $5000. One point of initial contention was over a 50% upfront payment he wanted for scheduling (to get on his calendar). I indicated to him that didn't seem right, and that I would give him a sceduling advance to get on his calendar, but no where near 50%. He understood, and we settled on a 20% down payment to get on his schedule. Once I selected tile he came back out to do a final proposal based on my tile selection and design. That proposal raised my estimate to $5500 because I had chosen more expensive tile than was originally budgeted for. Kelly got started about a week early because there were some issues at a job he had schedule before mine and he and his colleague Ted worked all day for 6-7 days by the time the job was complete. The final product looks stunning! Two issues we ran into during the job. These didn't cause big issues, but they should be considered. 1) Kelly did not order enough glass mosaic tile intially, so there was some concern that during the tile setting he woudl have to postpone work and come back. he was able to get the tile he needed quikcly and was not slowed down by that, but it was a concern. 2) Kelly was not aware that he needed to get his shower pan inspected by the plumbing inspector (now he is). I can't blame him for this because he works in so many different cities and it's a city law, and normally this would be the general contractors responsibility to schedule. But is is interesting to note that a guy like Kelly who has done this for so long had never needed his shower pans inspected. That just goes to show you that most general contractors and homeowners out there do their work under the table. I am a homeowner who was doing my own general contracting work and if it weren't for my plumber indicating the need, I wouldn't have know either. Overall, Kelly was awesome and I would hire him again in a instant if my goal was a quality tile job. He's really good at what he does, and takes a lot of care in each step. His Colleague Ted was also a joy to work with. One thing I noticed about Kelly and Ted is that there is no lollygaggin going on. They work. period. No looking around the house or checking out the job. They just go to their area and get things done. I was very pleased with their trustworthiness. Although the price wasn't the cheapest I saw, at the end of the project, considering it's difficulty and the amoutn of time they spent working on it I was please with the value.

It turned out very well. They did an excellent job, and it looks lovely. I would definitely use them again.

Kelly poured buckets of slop, mortar and grout in the back yard right in the dog's path. I can hardly wait for spring to clean all that up! Tiler had two sinks upstairs and one downstairs to pour that in. I would expected at least a question as to where to pour the stuff. I'm disappointed in the way the backsplash turned out. the tiler left grout on the stones. So the colorful rocks are all bland and dull with what looks like a coating of sugar on them. Now i have to spend two hours with a dremel tool grinding and sanding them off for the enhancer to work. I also had a pencil line on the wall for the tiler to follow for the backsplash that we talked about. it was lined up with the upper and lower cabinets so when the wood trim was put back on it would line up with no gaps. Tiler did not line up on the line so now there are gaps between the trim.
Response from BOND TILE AND STONE
"This is an unfortunate situation that I have never had to deal with in the past. During my years in business, I have done hundreds of installations, and this is the first time I have experienced a negative comment on the quality of the work. Most surprisingly, this is the first time that this homeowner's issues were brought to my attention. This particular homeowner is not some random person that found me on Angie's List or through some other means of marketing. I have known this homeowner for years. He is the owner of a home improvement company that I have received a couple of bids from in the past for my own property. So, he was not a stranger. I have answered many tiling questions for him in the past when he has called me, and I have handed out his card to numerous clients of my own. I was actually a bit surprised when he contacted me about this job. Being a contractor himself, it seemed that he would be competent to do the work. However, it seemed like he wanted to have someone who specialized in tile. Thus, I gave him a bid on the job which included a friendly discount. I even helped him with the design and set him up with some assistance at a local showroom making several calls and visits myself. When the time came to do the actual installation, it seemed like the homeowner did not trust me from the very beginning. This seemed odd, since I believed that he had hired me for my expertise. His project was completed in the time line we discussed, and frankly, I thought the quality was excellent. In addressing his concerns from in his report, the residue from mixing mortar is a watery slurry. Although very liquid, it should not be poured down drains, because it could lead to clogged pipes. Since it is not a solid, it can't be thrown in the garbage. Hence, we have always dispersed it in the yard. In this case, I found a spot alongside a shed in the back yard. The slurry will discolor the snow, but it will not require any spring clean-up. As far as being in the dog's path, I certainly did not see evidence of a path there when I choose that spot. The pencil line for the backsplash was just a simple mark. When we discussed this, I expressed to him exactly where the tile would be put, and he agreed to that. He made no mention of needing to meet a door jamb that was not installed. Every contractor I have ever worked with would have had the jamb installed prior to tiling. Regarding the residue on the tile from grouting, all looked well when I left the job site. And the pictures that I have certainly attest to that. Sometimes a slight residue can occur, but this is easily removable with a dry cloth. A Dremel tool was certainly not necessary. If the homeowner had merely contacted me about this issue, I would have be more than happy to take care of the matter. As stated, the homeowner is a contractor himself. He has an overall A rating on Angie's List, but he does have a couple of B's, C's and even F's in his reports. I am sure than he understands the value of having his clients contact him with any problems prior reporting any disfavor. With that in mind, I am surprised that he did not contact me prior to posting his review. For anyone that is reading this, I would be more than happy to give you dozens of references if the quality of my tile installations is in question at all."

The work had difficult cuts and corners, also complicated angles. The guy who did the work was very artistic in detail and provided exactly what we were looking for. I thought his price was not bad. It surprised me at first because I rarely hire out. He was dependable and professional in every way. I would hire him again for any future projects.

Kelly showed up on time for an estimate, the work was preformed within 3 days and was completed in one day. The tile work looks great, Kelly helped us pick out the tile and it looks better than expected. Clean up was complete, no garbage was left at the site and the final invoice matched the bid.
