The actual oil change went fine and was relatively quick.  It wasn't until the next time I went to have the oil changed that I found out that they had over-tightened the filter and that it could no longer be removed without also damaging the housing which would have to be replaced to the tune of $250.  When I brought it back to Bobby and Steve's and asked if they would do anything to rectify the situation.  They offered to let me pay full price to have them fix it the following day and offered no admission of wrong doing, apology of any sort or any really empathy for my situation.  I was dismissively told that if it had been over-tightened it would have cracked as that is the only symptom of over-tightening.
Now angry, I took the car to two other service providers who both diagnosed the problem without any prompting or prior information to be the result of over-tightening.  I had the repair done at a shop I trust and did not pursue any recompense from Bobby and Steve's thinking it was not worth the time and effort.
Having several prior less than pleasant experiences with Bobby and Steve's shops around town, I should have learned my lesson and not dealt with these guys, but I was in a hurry and thought they wouldn't really botch an oil change.  I have learned my lesson and will refrain from doing business with them again.  I would encourage others to do the same.

They got me right in for an oil change, bringing my car directly back and raising it up. However, I sat for nearly 90 minutes for the service to be completed.
Nearly two weeks after my service is when the problem was found, as I do not drive the car often...it sits parked during weekdays, and was only driven a short distance at a low speed during that time. On the holiday weekend I drove 35 miles to a family gathering and first noticed something spit out on my windshield.  Then the smell came, and smoke visible.  When parked and hood popped, there was oil all over the engine spilling onto the hood, and the oil cap was off. The cap was in the vehicle, tucked under the pop-up headlight.  I called right away for assistance, and the representatives were rude and told me I could bring the car back the next day, as they were too busy at that time.  I had to use the cloths for my food/family function to wipe off the best I could and borrow oil from a cousin to get my car back.
I brought the car back the next morning to have it cleaned up and serviced. They washed it, but didn't bother to show me how they refilled the oil or any additional services rendered.  While apologetic, the representative was not eager to keep my business. Instead of offering my money back, I had to ask, where I got a business card for a free oil change the next time (which I will never use).

They have great integrity and they’re very honest.  With my company, I do get a discount with them but they even offer to take you to work and offer that escort service.  There isn’t a high turnover rate so you can work the same people which is nice. Some people have commented on the price here but I believe it is definitely worth it. They just have a very caring culture here and with customer care they are amazing.I have referred several people to go here.

The big thing is their hours; they are open until 10 pm.  I can drop the car after work and have the work done.  So it is convenient.

It went very well.  The place was very busy when I called to make the appointment and I was told someone would call me back.  I called later and made an appointment.  After several hours, the first person I called contacted me but I didn't call back since I had scheduled the service.  He called back again to make sure that I got what I needed.  I dropped my car off and left it for the day.  I was pleasantly surprised to see my car at the end of the day.  It hasn't looked this good since I originally purchased it over 10 years ago.  It gleamed inside and out.  The only issue I had was that they put the floor mats back over the carpet which wasn't yet dry, so I took them off right away to give the carpeting a chance to dry out.  Given that the package usually sells for $200 and I only paid $79, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they didn't skimp at all on the services performed.  I would take my car there again.

My car broke down while I was working during rush hour at 5:30PM in Shoreview. I was told by my motoring plan it would could be aprx. 1 hour before they arrive. They were there within 10 minutes with a shiny and clean hydraulic flatbed. My motoring plan provided 5 miles towing free but I needed my car towed 17 miles to Golden Valley to my auto Repair Shop. They arrived and explained they would tow the car anywhere I wanted to go for $5.00 a mile, so I had to pay for the additional miles which was aprx $60.00 which I thought was very reasonable. He loaded my car extremely quickly and I hopped in up front and before I knew it, we were at my destination. He unloaded it right inside the garage at the repair shop quickly and carefully and I paid him and we were done. This was all during rush hour! I was amazed and impressed. He was very courteous and professional and quick. I couldn't be happier with the service Nate provided. I can't thank Nate enough!!! It made the whole experience much less stressful to deal with. I would say the whole process from when he arrived to my destination was 30 minutes or less. It was really quick. I was at my auto repair destination by aprx 6:15PM. It was outstanding service all the way around!!!

I had the very same problem the NEXT DAY after they said it was fixed. I described my problem when I first brought it in and my daughter was with me, and she stated that we weren't sure if it was the engine or the transmission right at the time we dropped off the car. I wanted them to tell me. I brought it in in the hope that there might be something that could mimic a transmission problem that I COULD afford to fix, transmission work being quite expensive. They were nice and friendly and acted like they were positive after running the codes that it was an engine problem. I do not buy their excuse that that they cannot diagnose a transmission problem without first fixing what they fixed. When the next day, I had the very same shifting problem, I brought it back, they gave me a loner vehicle and a couple hours later they called me and dropped the bomb about the transmission. This is AFTER I paid them $576 for other stuff. I feel that they use their diagnostic methods (running the computer codes) to cover their butts so they can lure you into spending so much money finding out the problem that you can't afford to "cut your losses" and walk away. When I complained and asked for a refund, they offered to replace the transmission for $1400 instead of $1700. So I would be spending around $2300 all together. Maybe it's a good deal, but the car has 203,000 M with worn tires and a cracked windshield, and I don't think its worth it. I have not made up my mind whether to repair or not at the time of this narrative.

I arrived in my car a few minutes before opening, but didn't have to wait long, because they opened promptly at 7:00 and then immediately started to serve me. They looked at my car within minutes. The test they ran showed I needed a new battery, which would take about 20 minutes to replace. I said I'd go across the street to the restaurant (the gas station-restaurant portion of Bobby and Steve's is separate from the auto shop in Columbia Heights) for breakfast while I waited, for which they gave me a 10% discount. When I got back, they had re-evaluated the diagnosis based on further observation and found that my starter also needed to be replaced. They explained everything to me in language I could understand and showed me the test results. They didn't have a starter right there in stock, but said they could get one and have it installed within about an hour, which is exactly what they did. In the meantime, I was offered coffee and I also enjoyed a friendly conversation with the owner and one of the staff. Customer service was excellent, service to my car was prompt.

They give a 12,000 mile, 12 month warranty on the work. I have found them, for the most part, to be very honest. I would recommend them to others on the list. They are not the cheapest but they stand by their work. I've never had to go back. They get it done right the first time.

Bobby & Steve's has an awesome drive-through car wash that sprays multi-colored soap on your car and rolls you down a brightly lit tunnel to be scrubbed and rubbed until clean. Entertaining.

They did a great job checking over the van. They knew that the minivan, presently at 86,000 miles, would need its timing belt replaced at 90,000 miles and suggested that I ask if it had been replaced. Since it had not I asked the dealer to replace it as part of the deal. That saved me about $600!
