They checked the cat and did CPR for 2 minutes and we then said not to continue since she was not responding. They euthanized her and the final bill was unbelievably high for the services rendered -- and they never gave us an answer of what might have been the cause. The staff (more than one person) was heartless!

The staff could not have been kinder to me and my dog. The vet visited with me and we talked about my dog's case. She examined my dog and then she was taken back for lab work. After the visit, it took 2 telephone calls in order to receive a copy of the preliminary report from the visit - approximately 2 weeks after the visit and another 2 weeks to receive a copy of the final report for a total of 4 weeks after the visit. My dog is on daily medication so receiving the report in a timely manner would have been helpful. There is not really a way to follow up with this clinic and ask questions and clarification on the way forward. I would not recommend this clinic if you have an animal with complicated medical issues and need timely feedback from them. You may be better off contacting the U of MN Veterinary Clinic. However, if your animal requires emergency care - they might be able to meet your needs.

Blue Pearl Veterinary is amazing, amazing, amazing. We used them for a whole year and they were amazing. What makes it amazing is that every doctor was just caring and compassionate and loving. They did a great job for our dogs. They custom made his treatments and just the love and care. Their care was great. I will use their service if needed in the future for sure. We have healthy dogs now.

They're not regular vets, they are emergency vets. I don't know the cost as yet but all I know is that during the processes they're very compassionate and very thorough. I like that they are very professional and compassionate to he owners of the animal, They're very thoughtful and they call and they follow up so it's very nice.

Our usual vet referred us to Blue Pearl following the diagnosis of our cat with an advanced carcinoma of the mammary gland. Joanna Schmit, DVM, reviewed the pathology results with us and provided a prognosis in a professional, but caring, manner. She provided multiple options and clearly stated the goals, dangers, and likely outcomes of each treatment choice. She helped us choose and act upon the appropriate treatment regime for our cat. Dr. Schmit did an excellent job communicating with both me (who works in a medical related field) and my wife who does not. I appreciate the time she took to work with us in this difficult time, including a discussion end-of-life planning for our pet. We left the office feeling that we had made the best possible decision.
The facility is clean and bright, as one would expect. I would certainly recommend their services to anyone in a similar situation.

After my local vet failed to diagnose why my cat's eye had turned from yellow to black (and almost opaque) over the course of several years, she finally recommended I take Cozy to an animal eye specialist at Blue Pearl in Eden Prairie. Dr. Nicole Trumble was professional and empathetic and quickly diagnosed the problem as feline iris melanosis. She recommended removing the eye, so that's what we did in Dec. of 2011. The cost was over $2000. She also included a laser treatment for a small brown spot on his remaining eye, which is how the cancer started in the eye she removed. Cozy was fine for a year, then he had some bleeding in the empty eye socket. We took him back and Dr. Trumble didn't think it was anything serious so we took him with us to Texas for three months. While we were there, his eye socket started to swell. We took him to a vet there but they did not have the expertise to determine what the problem was and the nearest eye specialist was in Houston 200 miles away. We called Blue Pearl and spoke with Dr. Trumble's assistant Marla since Dr. Trumble was on maternity leave. Both Marla and Dr. Trumble spoke with the local vet and recommended taking a lab sample of the fluid in the socket, which we did. The results came back clear and Cozy was not in any pain so we decided to wait until we returned to Minnesota to have additional tests done. Marla called us several times to check on Cozy's well being while we were in Texas. We went back to Dr. Trumble the first part of April and she recommended doing surgery to determine the problem. that surgery was performed on April 4, 2013 and cost $1100. We learned that Cozy's eye problems were caused by an aggressive cancer. We lost Cozy about 3 weeks later. I can't say enough about the professionalism and caring we received from Dr. Trumble, Marla and all the staff at Blue Pearl. Although they are expensive, I would take any pet I had to them again. Having experienced some so-so and down-right incompetent vets locally and in Texas, I greatly appreciate the expertise available at this facility.

The level of compassion we recieved from Dr. Hanson and Megan (her nurse) was incredible. They showed such kindness towards my husband, my dog and myself - so much more than we could have expected from a doggie dentist! They clearly love what they do and our family is so thankful for them!
We have previous experience with the U of MN vet clinic - and they are amazing too - but I guarantee that I will bring my dogs back to Dr. Donnell and her team for any future issues. The personal connection Dr. Hanson was able to establish is unparalleled. I also greatly appreciated the strength of relationship between Dr. Hanson and her nurse, Megan. They clearly work as a team and only reinforced my confidence in their credentials as vet professionals. Of course the procedures were not inexpensive - but I found them to be on par with the UofMN services and I prefer the more personal experience.

OUR DOG MAX HAD XRAYS AT OUR VET AND THEY FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF FLUIDS AROUND HIS HEART SO THEY IMMEDIATELY SENT US TO BLUEPEARL.
WE FEEL VERY LUCKY THAT OUR DOG IS BEING TREATED AT BLUEPEARL. DR. HUSBAND IS SO WONDERFUL AND WE FEEL MAX IS GETTING THE BEST TREATMENT HE CAN.
THE OFFICE STAFF IS VERY RESPONSIVE AND LOVING TO OUR DOG MAX. DR. HUSBAND TAKES THE TIME TO SIT WITH US AND EXPLAIN THE XRAYS AND TREATMENT EVERYTIME WE'RE THERE, AND ALWAYS HAS LOVING WORDS FOR MAX.

Friday morning my dog swallowed a golf ball and we called our normal clinic, Blaine Area Pet Hospital and they referred us to Blue Pearl next door, as surgery might be needed.
So he was rushed to the Blue Pearl veterinary clinic (Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services is in the same office for after-hours - so the clinic is open 24/7). They consulted with us about 45 minutes after we arrived. I wish they had gotten us in sooner, but the dog was not in distress, so it wasn't a big deal. They went over the options for treatment (xrays to confirm the location in the stomach, induced vomiting to try to bring it back up and surgery if that was not possible). We were quoted a price of 2100+ dollars for the surgery - they provided a detailed quote listing out the projected itemization. We authorized the xrays and inducement, in the hopes that a less traumatic/costly option would work. It did not, and as we did not have the 2200 needed to cover the surgery, they suggested we apply for care credit. We were able to get approved very quickly (this card can be used for pets, people and some livestock) and get the surgery going. During the surgery, they also noticed a lymph node that was enlarged, so we authorized that to be sent off to the pathology lab. (the surgery final cost was approx. 2000+, then the extra was for the pathology)
It was several hours later the surgery was complete - the vet gave us back the golf ball (which now resides on the mantle in a jar) and briefed us about how our dog was doing. He came through with flying colors and would be monitored overnight. The next day we weren't able to cancel our plans, so they let us drop off food for the dog and gave us an update after Dr. Jackson did another check saturday morning. We picked the dog up in the afternoon - at which time Dr. Myers met with us and went over his discharge instructions.
They also followed up and responded promptly to our questions and concerns over the following days.
They were understanding and kind about the situation and all of the staff clearly love animals. The price was staggering, and the need to deposit the full amount (or leave the the care credit info) prior to proceeding was a bit of pressure - but given the work done and the likelihood of previous customers not paying their bills, we understood.
More than anything, we are grateful to have our dog still with us and have such an excellent prognosis. I would definitely use them again - but we recommend that pet owners carry pet health insurance or open a care credit account in case of emergency.
