My furnace blower motor went out. I called Blue Ox and they came out within a couple of days to replace the furnace and A/C unit. They were punctual and arrived during the time window. They took the time to ensure that the equipment they installed would produce the correct volume of air for my home. Afterwards, I was presented with several options, and then they promptly installed a new furnace, A/C unit, and smart thermostat. The new equipment is certainly an improvement over the units I had replaced.

The A/C unit that I had installed about a year ago had been acting like a car trying to start with a low battery. It would try, stop, try, stop, before finally kicking into gear and doing its job to cool the house. I called Blue Ox, and they came straight out to take a look. I was only charged for parts. After the technician finished, the A/C unit started up just fine, every time. The Blue Ox team is very responsive, and I would certainly recommend them to others.

When I called to discuss this with customer service at Blue Ox the person on the phone was EXTREMELY rude and yelling at me, her customer. I had asked at the beginning of the conversation if I could be transferred to their head of customer service or customer relations, however she refused to transfer me to that number or tell me who I could speak to.
Description of Work
In the process of selling my home my buyer requested that I have a furnace tune up done. I thought that was a simple request, so as a Blue Ox "VIP" customer, I called Blue Ox to perform the tune up. As a VIP customer a tune up is "free." So the technician wrote on my form an obscure "problem" in an attempt to up-sell me knowing my furnace needed a clean bill of health. So, because I had a repair policy with excel energy home-smart, I called them to "fix" my furnace. When they came out, they informed me that there was NOTHING wrong with my furnace. NOTHING. As I said, I am trying to move, so I had to contact excel to cancel my home smart plan. But because I had contacted them once to "fix" the "problem" that Blue Ox had totally made up in order to try to upsell me---now I am unable to get out of my contract with excel home smart because calling them apparently put me in another 12 month contract that I cant get out of. Why am I grading Blue Ox as an F- ? Because they totally made up a fictitious issue with my furnace, in hopes that I would need them to pay the $800 to fix it....and that caused me to now be stuck in a 12 month contract with excel that I have to pay for, but am unable to use. Whatever you do, do not go to Blue Ox

Our furnace went out on one of the coldest night of the year to date. When my husband and I could not figure out how to fix it we started calling for HVAC service to come out and assist. We got a hold of Blue Ox customer service and was given the run around as to when someone could come out which would probably be the next day. In order to keep heat in the house we started the fireplace and had 7 space heaters situated around the house as we were not sure when we could get a service person to our house. We did call other companies and waited for the first company to come out. Blue Ox called the middle of the next day, and were at our house within 15 minutes. The service guy and my husband went down to the furnace, he removed the panel and hit the reset button. He told us we need the draft inductor motor replaced and the problem would keep occurring until we had the motor replaced. He said he needed to order the motor right away so we could quickly get it fixed. My husband stated that he needed to discuss with his wife and we would get back to him rather than sign on the dotted line right away Cost for less than 20 minutes of work - $275.00. $59.00 for the service fee and the rest for furnace diagnostics. So hitting a reset button and visual diagnoses was over $200.00??? The quote for the draft inductor motor replacement $890.00. Good thing I have a smart husband who let's his wife do what she does best and that is to get competitive opinions. After my internet search and determining that no one who has paid more than $400.00 for the replacement of the draft inductor motor and seeing that blue ox had "free service fee" coupon on the site that was never offered up to us...I knew we were being taken advantage of because it is winter and we need our furnaces to work in the winter! Bottom line is that we will never call Blue Ox again for service and had the draft inductor motor replaced for a total of $350.00.... which was totally in line with my internet search. Do your homework and get competitive bids. I can not recommend this company who doesn't look at customer retention and present at will coupons on their website to save customers money. Nope they are out to make as much money as they can on vulnerable people who need their service in the cold winter months. Not my idea of a company I want to hire again.

There were errors on the installation. They fixed them in a timely manner, and we had to have them back out a couple of different times for different issues, but it felt like they dropped the ball on the installation.

The estimate and "sales pitch" was low pressure and informative. Matt explained the size of the unit we needed and why. Then he gave us good, better and best options for the home. The estimate was "all inclusive" which meant the foundation, unit delivery and installation. The next morning the unit was installed exactly as planned.

My mother's home air conditioner stopped working after 27 years. Blue Ox gave us an estimate for a new AC and did the work the very next day.

We had Blue Ox come out to fix the air conditioner (central) last summer because it stopped working and I didn't know. They came out, did a good job, and we paid $250 for the service. As part of that service, I signed up for some monthly maintenance plan because it made the air conditioner 10% cheaper in exchange for some monthly fee. As part of that monthly fee, we got a "free" inspection of the heating system that seemed like a good idea for our first winter in a new house, so we had them come out (after forgetting and procrastinating for awhile) in early January. Turns out the heating exchange thing was cracked and we needed a new furnace. After getting a second opinion to confirm that this was actually case (it was) we ended up going with Airtech (who was quite a bit cheaper for a better new furnace) but we were pleased with the work they did for us on the air conditioning.

Blue Ox installed a new furnace in Dec, 2013. It didn't work; finally a new part was |installed. It worked well all winter but when it started for the first time a few days |ago, it wouldn't work. Another technician said I needed a new gas valve. Called Blue Ox during business hours, switched to answering machine, left message to |call me, and they never did. Finally got it fixed through Air Tech even though the part is still under warranty from Blue Ox.

I did like the person they sent out. In fairness to the company it was the person who took my call which did not write down the correction information. Or they would have rescheduled on a warmer day. He did say that using MVEC cut off service to get 10% on electric bill during the summer was a rip off. However, notice I never got the service that I had been promised. DO NOT TAKE THE VIP PROGRAM FROM BEN FRANKLIN. They have inadequate staff taking in the calls. Billing does not follow through. Bad reviews doesn't warrant a call I only put down I would use them again because I'm still owed the furnace check in this years' contract. I will be switching back to Center Point Energy which have all professionals and respond to complaints.

Blue Ox was formed between me starting with the VIP service through Ben Franklin Plumbing. I called and made an appointment for general maintenance of my air conditioner. They came out even though it was too cold to do the maintenance on the air conditioner. They came out in March to do the maintenance on the furnace. He still tested the air conditioner and stated it needed a thorough wash and more freon ( not correct word) to a total of $400.00. I remember briefly he said it could be wrong since its not at optimal running. I agreed and then reniged when they came out again. they refused to do the test again and left. So they basically did not do the maintenance that the VIP service was supposed to be done which was the rinsing of the coils and check the amount of refrigerant in system when running at optimal.
