Big Daddy Decks

Beware...this is a scam artist.....

This experience shows why using Angieslist is important, which I didn't sign up until this experience.  The owner showed up promptly for the bid and went over details.  He wanted half upfront to secure the job.  Okay no big deal.  The next day he had workers out to powerwash and get the deck ready for seal.  We didn't see any workers after that.  We had a hard time getting a hold of the owner and once we did he said he wanted the other half of the money before he'd finish.  I have never had a company request to be paid before the work is complete nor would I pay this until.  A month and a half later we got him to finish the deck paid him in full.  The quality of work was not good and my deck started peeling shortly after.  He also said he was slow to finish this job because it was a "side job".  Which to my knowledge was not to us.  We called to hire his company to complete this work.  He also asked us to pick a nice stain color so he could use the rest on his own deck.  Overall very unprofessional, over priced, horrible communication, and a bad experience.  I would not recommend using this company.

He didn't finish the work, and he kept my money.  He had to re-stain twice, and it still looks bad.  I've had to hire someone else to come out to give an estimate to fix the deck.  I've found him on other sites which show that he's done this to other people, including my neighbor.  It's impossible to get him to show up, and you can't find him.  He has also left me several phone calls where he has cursed me out, and has also sent threatening emails.  He has also acted inappropriately in my presence.  I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

He has been threatening me and I will go to the police about this.....he never finished the job, but kept my money. All I want is the money that he kept and reimbursement for the totally bad job he did on my deck.

They came out on 2 different occations over 5-6 weeks for a total of 12 hours. I kept calling them to find out when they were going to finish the job, and finally got a call back from the owner. I owe him another $1000 for the rest of the job, which isn't being paid since they won't finish the job! The owner said he has no intention of finishing the job because I kept calling him. I have decided to contact a new company to complete the project, but I would like to have at least some of my money back, since they haven't even completed the powerwashing part of the job.
