B & J PROPERTY MANAGEMENT INC

Description of Work: We hired B & J Property Management to manage two properties in Columbia Heights. We had a very bad experience with them. The property manager, Phyllis Johnson, did not return phone calls, took an unreasonable amount of time to rent out the property, and billed excessive amounts for repairs that they claimed had to be done. With the repairs, the company also delayed in getting them done, and this caused the vacancies to take longer to fill. With one of the properties, B&J did not clean out the property, yet stilled showed the property to prospective tenants. Specifically, B&J took out the carpet and showed the property without even installing the new carpet. As you can imagine, prospective tenants would not be very impressed with this. The new property management company revealed to me that B&J did not clean out the properties. Phyllis Johnson repeatedly dodged telephone calls. We were able to reach her after calling from a different phone number that she did not recognize. This suggests that she was screening her calls. Lost a lot of money on these investment properties because of what I consider the incompetent and unprofessional performance by Phyllis Johnson and her company. I wish that we never would have hired B&J to handle the properties.
