My daughter and I built a custom cherry wood buffet cabinet for my wife.  I wanted to have it professionally finished to match an existing table and chairs.  I wanted to have it finished and in our dining room in time for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Anthony's did a fabulous job matching the table and chairs, and got it done on time.  They charged less than two other quotes I had received from other vendors on Angie's list.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others, and I'm, very picky.  They did a fabulous job!
In the past they received "B" grade, based I think on the previous owner who was in failing health.  I give them As across the board.

They were very friendly and responsive. Great service and quality workmanship. You can tell they take a lot of pride and joy in their business and craft. I'd definitely use Anthony's again!

I was pleased with the way the refurnishing looked. Initially they lost my key and the guy I originally talked to lost the business. So it took them awhile for them to find it. Since then they got rid of the guy so I don't think this will be a problem in the future.

Had 4 antique dining room chairs taken apart, reglued and recovered. They did a beautiful job on the reglueing and had a lot of fabrics to choose from for chair seats. My chairs look like a million dollars.

Concurring with the previous reviewer that something has changed. I won't go into details, but Tony is said to have some personal issues. Last time I was in in late June I was told he'd been asked to retire, my bill was higher than discussed but that was attributed to Tony's issues and we got through it. Next time I was in a few weeks later Tony was there alone. Since then a two week job has tuned into a 6 week job, and the shop voicemail is full. Its very possible the key restorers have moved on. I'll update the review if somethng changes.

"Dear (member name removed), First let me say I am so sorry you had such a bad experience with Anthony's recently. Second, my husband, Jeff Richter and I took ownership of Anthony's on March 14th and are doing everything we can to fix the wrongs done in the last year regarding the less then stellar customer service. It has been a long haul but Jeff and I are determined to clean up the reputation that Tony worked so hard to build over the last 27 years and hurt so much in the last year because of his illness. Please consider using our services again for a future project. We would be happy to give you a 25% discount on anything you bring in. I hope we have the opportunity to serve you in the future. I was called in early June to come in and give a thumbs up for the construction. It was fine (great, actually) and I approved it to start putting the finish on.
I went in at their request (around mid-June) to look at a small sample of finish, and we agreed that it wasn't even close. They (assumedly) made some changes to the finish and went ahead and finished the table. I went in in late June and we all agreed that it was a terrible match (and I'm not at all picky about these things). They promised they would redo the work by July 4.
I heard nothing from late June until today (July 29), so I went in and inquired about the work. There was a new guy there, the table hadn't been touched since late June, he was unsure of the status. He found it behind some other furniture, and agreed that the finish on the new table was unacceptable. After retelling my long story, he said he could probably get it done (and matched) as long as he could modify the color of the top of the other table. Wait! That isn't what we agreed to!!
Anyway, after 3+ months, they still have my existing table and my $1000 and I don't have a table that remotely matches my bedroom set. I'm expecting a call by Wednesday. But I'm leaving this now as a heads-up to all of you who have used Tony in the past. Something has changed, and it isn't good.

They were fantastic. I have never received this good of service. They're great communicators and they're experts in their field. They took care of the wood and these tables are antiques. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Very polite and professional. I felt it was a bit expensive but to be honest, I liked them a lot so I didn't price compare anywhere else. I was very satisfied with the work they performed, I would take any other furniture there for repair.

I bought the antique chair frame for a song at a going-out-of-business sale. I thought it would be simple to get a seat made. Ha!
The first place I tried, a small upholsterer's shop, they actually laughed at me.
Anthony's Furniture Restoration was the second place I tried. There, they understood what I wanted them to do. They appreciated the craftsmanship of the chair. The seat they made suits the piece. Since the seat was so small, I was able to choose a remnant from their existing stock of upholstery fabric. That gave me a seat with much better fabric for much less than I would have paid otherwise. I still love the chair and use it constantly.
Anthony's staff are very friendly and professional. I am happy with their work and feel I got good value for my money.

Great. Tony, the owner, came out and gave me an estimate the day after I first called. He picked up the pieces on 6/12 and delivered them on 7/27. He couldn't reglue a cracked piece of wood between the legs on the desk. He replaced it instead. The finish is a perfect match. He didn't charge me extra.

After calling several places, I took my bed parts in to Anthony's for an estimate. He looked at what needed to be done and gave me an estimate. He warned me that they had a number of projects going, were a fairly small shop and that it would take a couple of weeks. That was just fine and I didn't really expect that an immediate fix if they were to do a good job anyway. They called me after a couple of weeks. Both pieces were noticeably stronger and in great condition. Anthony's also addressed a few scratches on the bed and tightened up the other legs on the table. I used to worry all the time about those legs breaking and my worries have nearly disappeared due to their work.

We wanted to get one of the doors of an armoire repaired-- it had cracked near the hinges from someone bumping into the door. We called several Angie's List-ed places. Anthony's was the only one to respond positively and punctually. We were told to bring the door in, which we did. We were never told how long the repair might take. We were given a ballpark cost estimate, which was within 15% of the actual price. We called two weeks after dropping the door off and did get an update, but heard nothing until the week of December 6, 2010, when we were called to say the door was ready. Work was very good and the price was fair. The door fit perfectly, with no adjustment needed. I'm glad we didn't need that door on short notice. We didn't mind the wait but felt it would have been nice if we had received an estimate of progress without having to solicit it. FYI: cash or approved local checks only.

Anthony is terrific; he restores old pieces with the care and attention to detail that is hard to find now. We especially appreciate his careful hand-stripping and beautiful refinishing--the surface looks soft and warm, subtle, and appropriate to an old piece. Before we bought this piece, which we found in a corner of a consignment shop, we asked Anthony if he could look it over for us--it was in such worn condition, we wondered if it was worth the $600 purchase price and beyond efforts to restore. He very kindly arranged a phone appointment with us, so he could call us from the shop and discuss needed repairs while he was looking at the piece, and he pointed out many details of workmanship and construction that made us feel the purchase would be a wise choice. He's done other work for us, too--repaired an old French farmhouse table in our kitchen, and refinished and repaired a British mahogany dining table, both of approximately the same vintage as the old writing desk. We love these old pieces and would trust them to no one else. HIghly recommend.

I dropped the chairs off a the store and picked them up when they were ready. They explained was needed to be done and gave me a cost estimate. They were true to the cost estimate - no surprises, which was really great. I was very pleased with the craftsmanship. They did a great job. Everything came back sturdy and looked great. It took about 3 or 4 weeks to get them back. I wasn't in a hurry for them, so the time-frame was fine with me. They are easy to deal with - very pleasant.

I have a cedar chest that belonged to my mother so it is at least 60-years old and in pretty rough shape. It has sentimental value to me so having it refinished was important. Anthony came out to see it (none of the other providers I called did) and new exactly the make and style when he saw it. I thought his price was fair and could tell that he was passionate about his work. I dropped it off at his shop about a week or so later. It took 3-4 weeks for them to complete the job and it was stunning when I went to pick it up - well worth the money - it looks brand new. I'd recommend Anthony's to anyone that needs restoration done on an old piece of furniture.

When I dropped of the table, I was promised an estimate within 3-4 days. No one called. I called the following Monday and asked for the estimate. They had not even looked at the table but I pressed for a 'ballpark' and was told $80, plus $10 to oil and buff the finish. I authorized the repair and was told it would be about a week. I did not get a call after more than a week so I called again on a Monday. I was told it would be ready that Friday. I planned to be in the area on the following Tuesday so I said I would pick it up then. A snowstorm preventing me going out on Tuesday, which was fortunate because they called on Thursday (2 days later) and said the table was ready. The table was repaired nicely and they were friendly when I picked it up. I wish the communication and time line had been a little more straightforward.
