"Thank you for placing a review online. We appreciate your comments and are glad you experienced our friendly, prompt service. At Aladdin Doors our only agenda is provide our customers with a complete diagnosis and long term solution to fix their garage door. Upon examination, we found that not only was your chain off, the gear was ready to break. While our competitor may have only put the chain back on, they did not address the fact that the gear was on its last leg which would eventually cause the opener to break, especially with an opener so old. Rather than putting a "band aid" on, and based on our years of experience, replacing the opener would be the responsible thing to do, which is why we recommended it. Should you require service on your garage door in the future, we would welcome the opportunity to be able to assist you."

Although I bought the $59.00 package on Angie's List hoping to score a good discount and get a quality service, I ended up paying extra $155.00 for a pair of cables ($60.00) and a set of new "Rollers Nylon" ($120.00) after $25.00 discount.
I was disappointed to learn that a set of "Rollers" cost in the neighborhood of $10.00-$12.00 and $120.00 seems a bit high even with a labor cost added to it. I don't understand the purpose of buying a "30 minutes service call" for $59.00 if I end up paying a full cost at the end.
Unless you guys are more transparent about your pricing and the products that you are selling I am afraid that I won't be using your service in the future nor recommend for friends and families.
Thank you!
DJ

**Note that this is the first time I've ever given a negative review on Angie's List, and I've been an Angie's List subscriber for roughly 6 years. Please keep that in mind when reading this review.
The technician showed up within roughly an hour of when I called to make my appointment, which was great, and he was friendly for the most part. I had the same company over 6 months prior to make similar adjustments on my garage door/track/opener/etc. to get my garage door to close properly. The garage door started acting up again within a month and got progressively worse, so I made another appointment. When I made the appointment over the phone this time around, I was told there would be no service charge since the prior service they performed had a one year warranty. I asked them again to confirm that I heard them correctly about the service charge.
But after the technician performed his work, which took about 2 minutes, he told me that the adjustment he made this time around was different than any of the adjustments he made the first time (though I'm convinced that is not correct because I watched him do his work both times). He said that was the reason I had to pay the service charge. We went back and forth for probably 20 minutes regarding the service charge. The technician told me to call his manager and work it out with him. The manager berated me and said that I was just trying to get something for free "because that's the kind of person I am." Based off that comment, I just decided to pay the technician the $59.95 service charge (which was their 'coupon price' and the same price I paid them the first time they were at my house) because I don't want to be known as that type of person. I also decided to pay him because he said his manager would take it out on him if he didn't collect something. The technician then actually only charged me $49.95 for some reason.
If I would have known up front that I'd have to pay a service charge, I would have gone with a different company because there are always coupons out there for $30-40 for a garage door tune-up. I know it's not much of a price difference, but it's the principle that Aladdin Doors lied to me about the service charge. Just before the technician left my house, he told me that the company wouldn't be so accommodating to me the next time I call for service. I find it funny that he actually thinks I would do business with them again.
"At Aladdin Doors we care about our customer’s needs and we work hard to provide professional, courteous service to everyone. We apologize that your experience did not meet/exceed your expectations. In researching your account, there is a discrepancy in the service location. Two service calls were completed at [Member Contact Information Removed] not [Member Contact Information Removed] as referenced in your review. The initial call on 7/8/2013 stated “the customer installed his own door and the cable was rubbing and may need adjusting.” Cable adjustment was completed. On 1/24/2014 you said that “the door was sticking going up and down”. The technician noted that although the cables were working properly at that time, the door needed adjustment so it would open and close smoothly. Door adjustment was completed. Our policy includes a four year warranty on parts and a one year warranty on any one service provided. Since these were two separate issues (cable vs. door adjustment) you were charged respectively for two service calls. While we try to estimate the amount of the service call on the phone, it is difficult to diagnose the problem until our technicians are at the location to know whether or not it is a warranty call for the initial problem or if there will be another service charge for an unrelated new problem. Please accept our apologies for any confusion this has caused. Should the need arise for future garage door repair or replacement, we hope we will be considered to work with you again and earn your trust."
