The owner of Above All Tile and one, John Shar, did three projects for me in my 1930s era home: replaced the original tile in my main entryway; regrouted the tile in a bathroom; and tiled my fireplace. The entryway project was pretty straightforward except that the subfloor had a hump in it and the door jamb was not parallel to the floor. These unexpected issues were addressed at no additional cost and the floor turned out great. The bathroom regrouting required removal and replacement of what was probably the original grout. Some of the grout lines were so thin that it was really challenging to remove it. John worked from about 9:30 in the morning until about 8 at night to get the first phase of the project done. I had selected a grout color; however, John suggested that I reconsider at use a greyer shade of white in order to better match some existing grout. He took his suggestion and as a result, you cannot tell the newly grouted area from the original. The fireplace was a much more complicated project. The hearth was replaced, and this required that the old oak that “framed” the hearth over the oak floor be replaced with a thicker, tapered frame that John had to construct. It looks great. The fireplace surround had been brick. This was tiled over using a hand-made porcelain tile. However, it was extremely complicated to lay out because I wanted the all the tiles to have a vertical orientation and I did not want to have any of then cut. Among other things, this required that John frame in the outer perimeter of the surround with wood and the inner perimeter with plain black tile. The results are gorgeous! John showed himself to be a craftsman with great problem-solving abilities, artistic sensibilities, and a tremendous can-do attitude. His prices were very fair. I recommend Above All without hesitation.

The team spent a lot of time prepping the floor (1940s house) and insuring and precise and flat fit. Great work - it has been 2 years and the work as held up 100% and it looks fantastic.

Excellent workmanship. These guys were prompt, took pride in their work, and provided great communication. John provided solid recommendations and I'm thankful I went with them. I'll certainly be hiring these guys again! Don't take a chance on tile work - hire these guys to have it done right the 1st time.

This is a unique review. I had contacted Above All Tile to bid on a bathroom remodel. We agreed on a date and time to meet. Above All Tile did not show up and I wrote a negative review. Above all Tile reached out to me, apologized, explained an emergency had taken place, and REIMBURSED ME FOR MY TIME OFF FROM WORK AS WELL AS MILEAGE! Very respectful and professional. With this said, I would definitely work with Above All Tile in the future. Thank you.

We hired Above All Tile & Stone to do a remodel of our bathroom this past March of 2020. I can not say enough about how happy we are with this decision. We chose to have the work done while we were on vacation to make it easier on everyone. We were kept in the loop about any issues that came up by John and he promptly took care of them. I felt from the very beginning that I was dealing with a professional, honest, top notch company. The job was finished on time and the craftsmanship could not have been better. My experience with Above All Tile & Stone was exceptional from start to finish. The tile shower with glass door and tile flooring looks fantastic. John and his associate were able to get the tile shower and flooring done in 6 days. The glass door is heavy duty and is custom fit so measurements were made after the tile was installed then the glass door was fabricated and installed about a week later. Above All Tile works with Hopkins Glass for the glass door fabrication and installation. John and his associate are incredibly hard working, courteous, and you can tell they take great pride in their work. Some grout spots were missed (very common) and they were out right away to touch them up. They also did a great job in communicating to me the various components of the job including expectations for each day, timelines, and breaking down and explaining various options when key decisions needed to be made. I have hired them before and I will hire them again. If you are looking for high quality work at a fair price, I highly recommend Above All Tile & Stone.

John, the owner of Above All Tile, provided an itemized list of work to meet our remodel expectations. This allowed us to see the cost of each item so we could make discisions should we want to change items during construction. All his workers take pride in their work and communicate regurally with their customers. Work was done on time and within budget. Top notch quallity workmanship.

I was very pleased with the whole process. John responded quickly to my request for an estimate and was easy to reach through email with questions about the estimate. The job was scheduled right away and was completed in the two day time frame as planned. I am very happy with the quality of the work done by Serge and Dimitry. They worked hard and cleaned up each day before leaving. In all, they repaired the tile and grout around the bathtub and the tiled vanity countertop in one bathroom as well as the tiled shower walls in our master 3/4 bath. They also acid washed the tile floor in the master shower and resealed that grout. I'm very happy to say that our 52-year-old tile looks as good as new after their hard work. Serge also did a good job installing the new plumbing fixtures that we had purchased ahead of time. I would not hesitate to hire Above All Tile again.

We have been remodeling and have been working with several service providers. Our experience with Above All Tile has been — by far — the smoothest. 1) We interviewed several tile installers. Above All’s estimate was the highest but we really felt we were getting what we paid for. Tiling a floor can be complex and John really seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. 2). John told us how much time he would need to get the project done, we scheduled them and he and his crew showed up on time, ready to work and finished on schedule. 3) John and his crew are very pleasant, nice folks. We were very comfortable with them in our home, even when we had to leave to run errands or go to appointments. 4) The work is perfect — exactly what we wanted. His crew left everything is professional condition and cleaned up very well at the end of each day. In all, high quality work from experienced and knowledgeable professionals done efficiently, pleasantly and as scheduled.

I contacted the owner, John, for an estimate to repair my downstairs shower as it was leaking. John gave me three options, from repair to replacing the shower. Since the shower was built in 1976, we opted for a complete rebuild, as it would be tough to match existing tiles. John was very helpful in all aspects of the project, from the tile selection and tile vendors to just explaining all the steps in detail. It is obvious that John is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the work, and he was always available to thoroughly explain items. The work itself was phenomenal. It was done in 5 days, as was projected. John was there the first day to ensure that the job was done as requested. Craftsmen Sergei and Dimitry worked well together and did an A-one job. They were always polite and professional. They put down drop cloths, then removed them and vacuumed each day. The clean up on a daily basis was a nice surprise. In addition to the demolition and complete rebuild of the shower, a shower niche and new shower valve and trim were installed, along with accent tile. The end job was beautiful! Anyone who sees the new shower compliments on how great it looks. This company is top notch. I would definitely recommend John and his crew again.

John took the time to answer all the questions we had both before, during and after the project. We would use him again and would recommend him to any friends and family.

John did the initial visit and estimate. He gave me a range of options and was clearly very knowledgeable about the process. In addition to regrouting ($680), I agreed to have them acid-wash the tile ($300), as John said there were hard-water stains that would look much better after that type of cleaning. There was no pressure to choose any particular services, and I took a few days to think it over. Once I'd decided, we scheduled the work for a date several weeks later. Two different employees did most of the work, with John participating at times and providing supervision. He also contacted me by phone during the project to give me updates. The process was mildly noisy, but they kept doors closed and minimized intrusion into my activities. Everyone was respectful and pleasant to work with. The work took longer than the full day they had scheduled, due to a prior regrouting job that made removing the old grout more difficult. They returned the next morning and finished the job ins several hours, minimizing delays to getting the job completed (this did not result in any extra charge). They were attentive to details including when and how to remove the shower doors and to make sure the caulking was done correctly and in coordination with other work being done on the tub (I had hired another company to refinish the tub around the same time). I felt everyone was respectful of me and of the home, and that this company cares about doing the job right. I am very happy with the results.

We couldn't be happier with Above All Tile & Stone. Their team was professional, friendly and detail-oriented. The tile setters are craftsmen who care about quality every step of the way. They answered all my questions along the way, helped with the design, and were very patient with my indecisive nature throughout! We were so pleased with the entire experience and the end result. My biggest concern was being comfortable with the workers who would be in my home, as I have a small child. I felt very comfortable with this team. They even saved their quietest work for my daughters nap time, without me asking! I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

John was fantastic; he knew exactly what to do to fix a problem that we've been having for some time. The work looks beautiful. Plus, the communication and timetable were amazing: I asked for a quote late Wed night, made the appointment Thu morning, and the work was done in one three-hour block on Fri afternoon.
