The project started three weeks after the promised start date. First day a full size dumpster was put right up next to our house which included hauling it across the lawn. During the project there was always garbage and scrap materials left and never were blankets or sheets used to cover the floor, house fixtures and beds. I asked about this and was told it was my responsibility.
There were also fit and finish issues: when cutting siding for new windows - cuts were not proper . Also window jams seperated from some of the new windows. When I asked the owner of Auben, BJ Shelly, about this was told the gaps can be filled with silicone and putty.
Biggest issue: size of the windows installed in the front of my house. The front of my house is brick. The silicone gap around the new windows is 5/8 - 3/4 inch between the window and the brick. Pella's recommendation is no more than 3/8 inch. I brought this issue up when the first window was installed in the brick side of the house. I was told the repair for this huge gap is to find silicone that will work in up to a 1 inch gap or make a custom piece of trim. BJ Shelly refused to take the windows back and replace with the correct size. BJ Shelly did all the measuring and sizing for the replacement windows.
