Recently, Mr. Dewey Berglund—owner and manager of 1st Team Exteriors—handled the re-roofing of our house following hail damage. He also explained the damages and the cost of repairing them. We then sat down to select the shingles and gutters. As we looked at a variety of materials, we could readily see that Dewey was very knowledgeable about all the necessary materials. He helped us to select the shingles and gutters that we wanted.
He helped us to understand how to go through the necessary steps to complete the insurance claim. When the insurance adjuster came out to examine the roof, Dewey met him at our house, making certain the agent examined the same areas of damage that he had previously found.
When it was time to roof the house, Dewey’s crew completed the job in one day. The workers were quick, quiet, and respectful. Their work was exemplary in every way. All waste was removed, and we never found so much as a nail in our yard afterward. We were exceedingly happy with the remarkable quality of the work done. When the job was completed, Dewey continued to assist us in the process of obtaining the final payment from the insurance company.
In summary and without reservation, we highly recommend 1st Team Exteriors. Dewey and his crew not only did a first-rate job in their work, but also helped with the insurance process. After referring Dewey to a friend for a much more complex job, the friend claimed to have experienced the same satisfaction with the quality of work done. In short, you can’t go wrong!

The repair of the roof and the gutters were performed without a problem. The crews hired to do those jobs were different from the one that performed the siding. The tear off of the existing siding which was a combination of vinyl and cedar went well. The installation of the replacement cement board siding did not. The crew was sometimes here on time, sometimes not. Sometimes it was a full crew, others it was reduced because they were needed on other jobs. The quality of the work ranged from OK to terrible. Several of the areas had to be torn off an redone to correct problems. SOME examples, not the whole list. The seams on boards were not lined up properly with gaps 1/8" and larger. Corner boards were not properly aligned. There were two different colors of flashing to be used in specific spots, the wrong one would be installed. In one case we even noticed it before the next layer was put on and they still didn't correct it before proceeding. Outdoor electrical outlets not reinstalled properly. Sided over a light block so they had to come back and remove siding to put that in. There was a board that needed to be installed under a threshold on a garage service door into concrete, it took three attempts to get that in and now less than two years later that is loose. They damaged the air conditioner outside the house jamming the fan into the casing so it would not turn. The downspout installations were haphazard using about half the screws that were there when they started. Poor finish on the walls around the doors that were replaced, we finally told them to leave it so we could finish it. And this year we have water leaking around the flashing on one of the doors that was replaced and dripping in through the molding so something else we get to correct. Although the project manager tried to make this right more than once the whole process was very frustrating and we were sorry we ever started. We love the siding itself but the installation was disappointing even after the multiple attempts.
