Contact, service and turnaround couldn't have been any better

I rarely write reviews but this company really deserves a great review. My Garmin GPS for my boat broke on a recent trip. Sent to Chris and his team at Short Tronics requesting an expedited repair as I was about to take another trip in a new area and really needed the machine repaired for safe travel during the trip. As soon as they received it, Chris contacted me about the repair and exactly what was needed. They expedited the repair in 1 day and express shipped it back to me so I would have it in time for my trip. Plugged it in and was off on my trip with the machine working like new again. A+++++ company. I very highly recommend working with them. I will tell all others in need of these types of repair to definitely work with Short Tronics. Chris was also very kind as I'd tried to fix the machine myself right before sending and I personally did a bit of additional damage cracking a screen in the process. They were able to completely fix it all and he was very gracious in telling me those screens are sensitive and they see them cracked frequently when owners try to repair them on their own. Next time, I'll send straight to Short Tronics ASAP without even a second thought so it gets fixed correctly and save my personal time. I also felt the price was very fair for this repair on this machine! I am a happy and safe boater once again in Florida with the repaired machine.

My GPS was refusing to charge, turning itself off an on unpredictably. My model is three years old, but carries European and Canadian maps, that I don't want to lose. I contacted Garmin who said they no longer supported this model. Short Tronics quoted me $45 plus postage to effect a repair, did it within ten days and the device now works perfectly. Not just convenient and cheap, but also does my bit in saving some landfill and yet another device being shipped in from China.

They were unbelievably knowledgeable. They were very responsive. They had repaired equipment in the mail to me within a day. They sent it priority. They continue to assist me every time I call them with a question without a charge.

Finding Short Tronics was like a miracle for me--my Z22 recharging port was damaged more than six months ago in 2011, and the company that bought Palm said they could not repair it. Neither could I find anyone in my area (South Oakland Country MI) willing to repair it--I called and visited computer places, cell phone places, other electronic gadget places, even a jewelry repair store. Radio Shack said they would send it out and that the repair price would be $80 plus parts (minimum) if they could fix it or $50 if they looked at it but could not fix it. In contrast, Short Tronics replied to my email within a couple of hours and gave me clear instructions for sending my Z22 to Short Tronics. They gave me the price of $48 for the complete repair (not including my sending it, about $5 Express US Mail). I mailed the Z22 on Saturday (6/16/2012), and Short Tronics finished repairing it within a day or two, and I received the Z22 returned by US mail within a week. It now works like new! The only caveat is that Short Tronics did not send me a receipt for services provided with the returned Z22. I have my cancelled check and the emails for my records, but if I use Short Tronics in the future, I will specifically request a receipt for services provided.
