We are a small company that specializes in sales and service of Palm and similar PDA, GPS units and Smart Phones. Because we specialize in this area we have a superior understanding of the circuitry, problems and solutions related to these devices. There are very few problems that we have not seen before. Our formal company name is Short Tronics, INC. where as our online website is PalmDr.com. We also have a presence on eBay under the user name itsnothere. We pride ourselves on being helpful, knowledgeable and we accept not only emails but also phone calls which is becoming more rare in this fast paced world. We believe electronics are not meant to be thrown in the trash, if the device works for you then at least attempt to get it fixed, rather it is a Palm PDA, Garmin GPS or other smartphone. It is best to keep an old friend alive then jump at the newest trend that will also be headed for the trash bin in a year time. Why the PDA and not the Smart Phone, for some the Smart Phone is the way to go but for many the PDA does a targeted number of applications extremely well and uncomplicated – allowing for very quick entries in the form of a memo, calendar entry, or address book. The Smart Phone is more geared toward phone, multimedia functions and silly “apps”. We plan on keeping the PDA alive well into the next decade, making sure we have plenty of parts and whole units to keep your needs met.

Short Tronics quoted me $45 plus postage to effect a repair, did it within ten days and the device now works perfectly. Not just convenient and cheap, but also does my bit in saving some landfill and yet another device being shipped in from China.
In contrast, Short Tronics replied to my email within a couple of hours and gave me clear instructions for sending my Z22 to Short Tronics. They gave me the price of $48 for the complete repair (not including my sending it, about $5 Express US Mail). I mailed the Z22 on Saturday (6/16/2012), and Short Tronics finished repairing it within a day or two, and I received the Z22 returned by US mail within a week. It now works like new!
The only caveat is that Short Tronics did not send me a receipt for services provided with the returned Z22. I have my cancelled check and the emails for my records, but if I use Short Tronics in the future, I will specifically request a receipt for services provided.
