Refused to give quote over the phone, charged $372 for a simple job that took less than an hour, was hostile when I asked for an explanation.
Response from ROARK PLUMBING
"The [Member Name Removed] received the standard price for the replacement of a 1/2HP disposal that all customers are charged. We do not price work without seeing job - we don't guess at prices and hopefully customers appreciate that professionalism. Mr. [Member Name Removed] asked for and received a complete, to the penny, breakdown of Roark Plumbing, Inc. pricing, that is not legally required to be provided. I did question Mr. [Member Name Removed] on whether he asks for labor and material breakdowns from other providers - such as the grocery store, McDonalds, etc. because I am always curious why folks think they have a right to know the operating costs of a plumbing company and never think twice about paying $8.00 for a fast food meal that only takes 3 minutes to receive - putting the hourly labor rate of the meal at $150 an hour. I guess I blame the educational system for not teaching basic business principles - didn't think I was being hostile, just direct...I do get a little tired of teaching business 101 to customers though...maybe people don't understand the value of plumbing. I wouldn't want to live in a world of filth. Maybe if you realize the the disposal will last a minimum of 5 years (most likely more); which puts the cost of our service at 0.204 cents per day of use, you won't be angry about paying for plumbing - that's my two cents worth, on your review - literally. P.S. Simple job? Is that a shot at plumbers - or am is misreading your intent? That could happen to anyone, right? Aw well, it's all water down the drain...and in your case a professionally installed disposal drain that operates properly."

Micah fixed our 2 toilets overflowing issue and cleared our sink drain. Great service and I will use for all my plumbing needs. He also suggested how to improve our water softening.

Appointment was scheduled within 24 hours of my initial call. Mike was thorough in his inspection, identifying potential safety issues from work that had been performed by a different plumber several weeks ago (loose connection to gas line and improper installation of shutoff valve). He was knowledgeable and efficient, and he resolved all the identified issues. I highly recommend him - I have definitely found my permanent plumber!

Roarke plumbing was able to get there right away and evaluate the situation. They gave me option and walked me through each one and explained the price. He went above and beyond to verify the issue. The best and most honest plumber I have ever worked for before. Would HIGHLY recommend Roarke to friends and family.

It went fine. I thought they knew what they were doing and he gave me some good advice. He was knowledgeable. I may use them in the future.

"I must say that I'm a little stunned by your review. The $49.00 you paid went to Angie's List - Roark Plumbing, Inc. received no money for an hour and a half of labor and you rated our price at B? It doesn't get any lower than free! Why did we work for free? So we can show you the type of service Roark Plumbing, Inc. provides and hopefully you value our professionalism - Licensed Master Plumber (which is: five years of documented work experience and four years of classroom training) with 30 years experience, knowledgeable and friendly, ethical and hard working, fair and upfront pricing, wearing uniforms and boot covers while in your home - We flushed your water heater and inspected your mechanical room for safety and cheerfully gave professional answers to all your plumbing questions. $49.00 was a ridiculous bargain that you rated a B. We got paid nothing for A service that you rated a B...I'm a little hurt by this, as I'm sure this response shows."

Showed up on time and were very professional. Really took the time to answer all my questions and discuss alternatives to hot water heaters. After inspection, informed me that the water heater was in such good shape that there was no need to consider replacement or upgrading. It was 9 years old and they explained that I will get many more good years out of it. No sales pressure at all, but extremely knowledgeable in answering all my questions.

Micah came to the rescue on short notice (3 hours) and thawed our frozen laundry room pipes without anything bursting. He was friendly, efficient and gave us recommendations to prevent it from happening again. We will use Roark Plumbing again.

I called Roark Plumbing at 8:30 AM as we woke up to an extremely large puddle of water in our living room and water continuously dripping from two spots in the ceiling. I was able to find a leak coming from the hot water pipe for our bath tub. Roark Plumbing was able to be at our house at 11:00 that day, which I thought was incredible. They came in and assessed the situation, purchased the necessary materials and were finished just after 1:00 PM. Overall, I was extremely impressed at how quickly they were able to come out, the quality and efficiency of the work and the price. I would highly recommend using Roark Plumbing and I would definitely call them again. He even gave me a card for a free pie :)

He resealed all the connections under the sink. He replaced the waterpipe and downspout in a tub. He is great. It was an emergency call and he came out the next day. He is on time and pulls the proper permits. I had used him in the past to completely redo my kitchen sink and the pipes leading to it.

The first time we had Micha out to our home was almost a year ago. We where having some water pressure problems in our master bathroom. After another company told us that in order to fix the problem we had to cut a big hole in our wall and replace a long list of things, Micha came out and fixed the problem just by tweaking a few things and installing new fixtures. This same problem happened again just a few weeks ago in another bathroom and Micha came out to fix it, he was done in a timly manner and the problem was fixed. Since he was running late that day and had to reschedule for a different time later in the day, he did not charge us for fixing the shower! We will definatly call him and Roark plumbing again.

We woke up this morning and discovered water on our master bathroom floor near the toilet. We quickly realized that the problem was a leaking tank, so I went to Angie's list to see which plumbing companies were highly ranked. Roark Plumbing was one of those at the top of the list, so we called them at 12:30 p.m. By 2 p.m., Micah, an experienced plumber, was at our door. He put footies over his shoes so that he would not dirty our carpet, then spent just a few minutes in our bathroom before returning to us, holding a broken corner of the toilet tank. Since this cannot be repaired, we had a brief discussion about the kind of toilet we wanted him to purchase and install, then he left to purchase the toilet.
He returned after purchasing the toilet and quickly installed it. Then he cleaned up the bathroom floor,so that it was spotless, gave us the bill and left. Because we were Angie's list customers, we received a coupon for a Bakers Square pie and a $33 discount on our bill. We paid with a credit card simplifying the transaction. He urged us to wait until morning to use the toilet, so that the cement he used to hold it in place would be dry.
The job was done quickly and profesionally and we would not hesitate to use Roark Plumbing again.

Micah, cleaned our main drain for our house. He cleaned it all the way out to the curb! I was so impressed! All my drains work wonderfully now. He was helpful and described exactly what he was going to do and why that would help. I felt completely at ease with him doing the work! He even made a special trip to get some additional eco-friendly cleaner to help with upkeep for the drain.

Used email link on Angie's List at 10PM on Sunday. Didn't get a reply so called for an appointment on Monday morning. They took my info and scheduled time for 2:30 that afternoon. Micah arrived soon thereafter. He spent some time diagnosing the two leaks and explained the repairs he would need to do. He was very concientious about minimizing his mess and working quickly. For the furnace, he needed to turn off the heat, drain a section of the furnace, remove and resolder a new copper fitting. The original copper fitting had failed because of an improperly supported expansion tank. Micah improvised a durable and functional support for the tank to eliminate the root cause. For the kitchen sink, he quickly reseated a drain into the sink and replaced a cracked nut that was the cause of the leak. Everything seems to be working well, now.

Micah arrived later than expected but in all other respects I was very pleased with his service. He helped me to diagnose the source of water appearing in my basement, and then to correct the problem, and hopefully prevent it from ever happening again.

Micah came out and started rooting out the drain immediately. He didn't question that I knew what I was talking about when I described my issue and the history of plumbing to my house. He also offered lots of advice, which is invaluable if it is good, and his was good. He didn't just fix my problem, he offered me a maintenance option as well. I am always happy with a problem when it is resolved, explained to me, and it makes sense. I'm no expert plumber, that's why I like a plumber like Micah. Today, I knew when Micah left, that I had received excellent service. It does't usually happen this way.

My stove was on the kaput and I had to purchase a new stove. I decided to take the time to get the stove that I really wanted which was a dual fuel. The problem my old stove was electric and I needed to have a gas line ran to the kitchen so that I can have the stove installed. Micah came and gave an estimate then he returned to install. Not only did he explain what he was doing and cleaned up after himself. He waited until my husband returned from the store with the electrical cord and plug (delivery forgot to leave one). He then helped us hook that up and ensured that the stove was placed the way we wanted. He took his time and helped us through He is professional and I will definitely use his services again.

Micah (the plumber) was happy to explain what he was doing and to give me pointers, which came in handy, because once the radiator we called him about had been fixed, we noticed an even slower leak in another radiator, and I was able to fix it myself using one of his suggestions. Since he charges plenty for a visit (like every plumber), I'm glad he is willing to include customer education in the package.

I was out of town when most of this happened. Micah was very accommodating and very easy to work with. He is very knowledgeable about the workings of boiler and radiator systems which was great because a number of the places I called didn't even want to get into it when it appeared radiator pipes in the ceiling were leaking. He provided full service from tearing out the ceiling to finding the leak and repairing both the leaky radiator and the drywall/ plaster and lath board ceiling. I only had to deal with one person while out of town. Micah also was able to troubleshoot a 10+ year problem with the radiator system. Water pressure in the radiator system slowly goes down and has to be refilled every month or so. Micah was very knowledgeable explaining how my closed system was open at one point and the modifications that were made resulted in a semi-functional expansion tank. Water leaks out of the system and air gets in. I will have Roark back in to fix this next in order to prevent any more damage to the system caused by internal rusting of the radiators and pipes.

This man communicated well with what he was doing. He was very conscientious about his work and presence in the house. He went above and beyond in what a plumber does because he had to re-tile parts of the bathroom counter top. He fixed up what another person had done poorly.

He responded quickly to our request and scheduled us within a day. Arrived and repaired the faucet in the time we agreed to. Gave us additional information on the sink drain that will need some work in the future.
