Initially I started with 3 bids. One I ruled out because I felt I just didn't click with the painter (and as it turned out his bid was the most expensive). Then I had Mark come out and bid and one other bid. Mark's bid was right in the middle. The other painter I was seriously considering was very personable and less expensive, but I had had Mark do some painting for me before (and wallpapering...which is dynamite!) so I decided to go with him again. I am glad I did. We ended up working on the hourly basis which I felt more comfortable with. Things went well....they did a great job and I'm very pleased.

They completely painted our kitchen after helping us with the color schemes. We went from a boring all white kitchen to a mocha cabinet with deep green trim work and red walls. I am telling you the colors because they did help with the color selections (at least approved of the ones we chose & made suggestions on where to paint the various selections). They took out all the cabinet/drawers and changed the hardware for us from a single pull knob to a bar. This involved filling holes & drilling more holes. They enameled them in their shop and they look great, nice work & no drips! I have 49 drawers/cabinet faces so this was a big job. It all looks fabulous & they finished quickly. I was only out of the kitchen for about a week (and actually could use the refrigerator for most of the time). The only thing I didn't get was an estimate on the job & I would do that in the future because so much of the job is done "off site" that you have no idea how much time goes into refinishing cabinets so the dollar amount owed at the end could be a surprise. But, well worth the cost.

It went really well overall. Mark measured the area several times & made an adjustment to the "almost" final product that made everything fit together nicely. The color of stain matches the existing cabinet perfectly & the grain of the wood was a great match. The only small details that I certainly did not complain about because they would be "really hard to notice" unless pointed out is the area that was touched up because the frame got bumped as he was going to load it in his truck so he had to touch up that area. Also a small imperfection in the cut of one of the corners. Other than that, all went really well.

Fabulous is all I can say. I met with Mark and he said he could start within a short period of time (like 1 week later). He and his son, Robert, helped me pick out colors because they have a real eye for color. They recommended the finish for the dining room & bathroom and it's so elegant, we LOVE it. They enameled a ton of areas for me and they did a great job, it's all done very smooth & they removed the doors to bring to their shop to have a dust free environment to do it in. I was so pleased with their work I "added on" painting of the great room to the initial request. I was going to have a carpenter replace the baseboards that were chewed up in areas & they said "we do that too". The pieces fit perfectly. There were 3 guys working most of the time and they finished all this in a week. I was amazed they weren't on Angie's list yet, I got their name from the local paint store. Oh, and I'm now having them re-do my kitchen (enamel) cabinets & put different hardware on it. Mark recommended a hardware store that saved me about $150 on the handles. (Swanson Hardware in St. Louis Park).
