"My pleasure , nice to work with you people"
"It was my pleasure working with you"
"It was my pleasure working for such nice people , thanks again"
"I am aware of the section of tar papered area , that section by code would require ice and water , I was there at the job site all day , and in that time frame I found a few sections that were previously (done by others) , we fixed them , I left the job for no more than fifteen minutes , I got a call from Mr [Member Name Removed] , I returned to see that my roofing crew were tar papering a section that had never had ice and water put on before , not even when the house was built , so that was a mistake that has been repeated at least two roof replacements prior to this install, yes I will take full blame for this missing that item , and very happy homeowner caught it , we tore out all the paper and shingles and for the first time since the home was built , it has proper installation , we did repairs to screens needed , I have never heard anything about these gutters being installed wrong , I will have a crew out there if requested by the end of the week , please call then we are on it ,, Update , I walked up to door of owners , I would like to see this gutter problem , at least in the front , I see nothing that looks like a problem , I have called and text this owner nothing back from him yet , again I stand behind all my work , just need a returned call On the grill , I believe we talked to Mr. [Member Name Removed] about replacement for a scratch , he said no that's fine , I got him and his family a gift certificate and I thought we were good to go , I am eager to make things right between Mr, [Member Name Removed] and my company just please inform me as to what you would like, please call I will make this good for you"
"On the insulation , home owner had ice dams in the winter , that was even obvious in the summer by my inspection of the roof , he asked me to look in attic for any problems , I found that he had less than 6" of insulation , I understand money is tight when you buy a home , I was very concerned for the money going out of his attic through heating bills , I am very sorry if I came across as aggressive , very nice people , I hope the best for them , not sure about that coffee thing ? I guess I am sorry for that too , I believe he was happy with our work though , they signed a Customer Satisfaction Survey and gave my company all five stars , I again am sorry for any hard feelings"
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT !!
They were reliable, hard working, considerate of our needs and exceeded our expectations. Gene personally worked with the insurance company and our claim. He and Jason personally supervised all of the work and the quality was superb ! The crews were prompt, highly skilled and very neat and clean.
Besides the insurance claim, we valued Gene's expertise in insulation and energy efficiency. His team added insulation to our home and our energy bills were drastically reduced this winter.
We plan to use them again this spring for some remodeling projects.
"thank you"
"The comment , he wouldn't hire me again , I had an American Family adjuster , that was not going to make life easy for anyone , after three visit with this adjuster , and a manager , a countless calls and emails , eye telI, and non matching shingles prove by me not to match , with countless rebutels from insurance, Igot a full replacement approved in 2013 , now this spring I got in touch with The Sickel family , because they had large hail again in may 2015 , my warranty to them doesn't cover new hail damage. so they allowed me to inspect their roof , I noted to them that they had damage , and I suggested they should do a claim , not right away , however they should this fall or early spring , I haven't heard back from them till I got this review , I find it funny , that with all the effort and care to make this very tough claim , with all the delay, Deny and Defend that I had to go through with insurance , and now it seams they forgot my effort , and to top it off call my average ? I guess you cant win with some people"
The basement had ugly carpet, and we decided that tile would be more practical. Again, the project went great, he was always punctual and it was finished in no time, even though the basement is quite large.
Finally we wanted to add color to our home and Gene worked very hard to find colors that matched our personality, but kept the home still marketable, and it was not easy, as both me and my husband and the kids are very picky when it comes to colors. He painted the kids bedrooms very nicely, the older child wanted a blue gray and the young one wanted a light green and he even found carpets to match the walls, at the kids request.
For the living room we wanted a wall that had dimension and he created this gorgeous custom designed feature with a textured wall that I am very proud of. It is unique and everybody that comes to my house notices and comments on how great it looks.
Throughout the project, Gene kept us informed on the charges and we thought the whole project was very affordable. We will not hesitate to recommend Gene's of Apple Valley to all our friends. Thank you!
That's where Gene came in. He took the matters into his capable hands and using his thorough knowledge of insurance worked with our claim adjuster to help us. He insisted that the claim was valid and was able to convince the adjuster to pay for everything. Once everything was paid for, I was able to pick my materials and colors from a wide variety of samples. The installation was timely and as promised. The crew was very efficient, they showed up on time and there were no issues.
I was a little nervous about picking the right colors, but Gene showed me which colors would work best with my design and I am glad I listened. I am very happy with the overall result and I will not hesitate to hire Gene again!!!
Gene and his crew put a new roof on our house. We had a lot of issues with Gene through out the process. He had our Insurance Company out 2 times to do the estimate.
We were told when we ordered the shingles that if we upgraded to a better shingle it came with an extended warranty. Which after the job was complete we had to fight to get the extended warranty. The roof does look nice, just not real sure it needed to be replaced.Gene turned in a lot of claims to our Insurance Company, which in the end 3 or 4 items didn't get replaced that he had been paid for. We had to withhold the final payment to get these things replaced. They did get replaced but I had to prove to them that they already got paid for these. Which he should have known.
I told Gene in the very beginning that we did not want to be pushed. We wanted this to be done our way. Well he pushed all the way through.
I feel Gene Is always looking for the next buck before he even starts a job. He walked around our house and kept looking for things to replace. We bought our house n 1998 and had a new roof put on right away. Never had any problems. They put another new roof on and it leaked in March. I called and told Gene about it and they came out in a few days. The entire time he was here he kept telling me it was an ice dam and because we don't have proper insulation it caused an ice dam. And again he wanted to put in insulation. Gene made me feel like an awful homeowner. And again everything they did was an argument. They tore off all the shingles in that area and I had to fight to get the right upgraded shingles put back on. I asked Gene to send me a paper with what they did that day to fix the problem and he refused. He told me it was an ice dam and he went above and beyond for us. He had me in tears by the time my husband got home from work.
I think Gene needs to take some training on how to treat people/ customers with respect.
He needs to remember that word of mouth is everything.
"I don't know where to start with this , I remodeled a bathroom for these folks around 1990 , they must have been happy with my customer service then, because they called me back for a board replacement in the spring of 2013 , [Member Name Removed] wanted a price on aluminum facia and soffet I at that time told them 41/2 " of insulation is not enough , and they needed a new roof from a hail storm in 2012 june , they agreed to set up a claim , with their insurance it took two adjuster meetings to get the roof bought and some small section of siding with holes in it . after around two weeks of holding onto the insurance check she decided to do the roof , and a upgraded shingle , job started in august even though approved in June because she wanted time to think about it ,We installed much more on the job than what the insurance would pay for , like d-edge and starter on gables with ice and water one row higher than they would pay for, We installed the roof in 4hrs and in and out in 5hrs she was very happy we didn't interrupt her home daycare , or leave any mess , all was good , except she wanted a manufactured termination cap (not on insurance ) installed cost of $247.00 installed for free , we did it . then after two weeks we got paid in full I at that time told her she had a problem still with her insulation , and this should be addressed , she said it wasn't in the budget . That November she called me about an ice dam that was leaking water into her home , I WAS OUT THERE THE NEXT DAY with my production manager and my roofers , we clear out a large area of roof , snow and ice , re-ice and water areas and weather ready iceoneen caulked every area where water could come in , then re-shingled those areas , no more problem that whole winter or to this day 4/17/2014 ,,, she still needs insulation , there is no warrenty for ice dams on any roof job , even though we did it for free , I called her today and asked if I could replace this board she indicated , she declined ,,, I guess you cannot please everyone , I tried"
I attempted to get a roof replacement estimate from Sela, which had done my previous roofing job. Their salesperson told me not to replace the roof, if there wasn't a leak. He was not able to give me information about improving the insulation and adding vents and in fact did not even inspect my roof.
Gene was very informed about the latest in insulation and venting. He was also not afraid to attempt the repair on an old garage, which involved lifting the garage and replacing the footings.
Gene and Greg were accessible by cell phone directly thoughout the projects, so we didn't have to send messages through a secretary or receptionist. They were open to ideas and negotiation. They made suggestions and offered a discount on additional services. We did not have to be involved with the projects day-to-day and were confident the project would be done correctly. It was clear, they were going to do a quality job and make sure we were satisfied with the results.
This is very difficult for me to even think back about. After I was quoted a certain price for the skylight...he showed up after his people had already cut the hole in my roof and told me it would cost an additional $1500 because his employee had cut the hole in the wrong spot. When I said it was his fault and I wasn't going to pay, he threatened to pull out and leave me hanging with no roof. I was flabbergasted and was bullied into a compromise of me paying an additional $1100. The install of the skylight was so unprofessional that it had to be done over 3 more times and took an additional 2 weeks! Gene eventually agreed to pay me back half of the $1100 he screwed me out of which did little to ease my opinion of him. My insurance company found many false claims in his invoice. I overheard him mocking me and bad-mouthing me to one of his employees when he thought I was not home. Overall, he is probably the most unprofessional contractor I have ever hired.
From the beginning Gene was overbearing, pushy and extremely unreasonable. Today, I really can't believe that I ever hired him in the first place. This man should not be allowed to be in the business that he is in.
