Built a nice wall - however, he did not follow the plans that he was given. Several changes were made to the design, including changes to the stairs that were not in compliance with what was approved by the city. This resulted in our having to have a railing placed. He also left a pallet of old retaining wall block sitting in front of my house for over five weeks. And, he buried large pieces of concrete from a different job in my yard without my permission and would not return to remove and/or smooth out the area.

They did a really good job. Part of the problem that destroyed the original patio was tree roots, they removed the tree roots and put in the new patio. They also tilted it so when it rains the water doesn't come up to the house, it goes out to the yard. I am really happy with my new patio, it is really pretty. I have even had neighbors comment on it and I've given them Devine Designs information so they can have theirs done as well.

Fantastic, it was a smooth process considering the size of the project. It turned out great. I work from home so I got to watch the process and I was amazed at the detail involved. Those guys worked 8 hours a day with few breaks. They cleaned up each night as well.

We worked with Paul Devine for several weeks to develop a comprehensive plans that would give safe access from the front of our home, down along the side of the home going all the way bottom back of the yard.  We installed hard-scape stairs, replaced and redesigned the original paver stones so that we color-coordinated pavers with the steps & stairs all the while improving the drainage system.

Most importantly, we expanded the square footage of our garden areas!

If we have one key goal for our work with Devine Design, beyond personal safety, it was to enhance our gardens to be bird friendly.  This we accomplished in spades.

Working with Paul we were able to increase the usable horizontal growing areas and were able to add a significant number of bushes and perennials.

The stair design facilitated added railing systems.

In the end we have a coordinated backyard landscape design that meets all of our requirements for safety, ecology and local needs.  We are extremely pleased.

Excellent. The key to working with Paul Devine was the planning process. We had a specific idea in our heads and we were working with completing the landscape/ hardscape area around a newly constructed Radiant Metric semi in-ground pool from Performance Pools Inc. Our property topography from the street level to the back of the property line dropped in excess of 15 feet. In certain areas the slope fell 30" in 25 feet. This was not going to be a cookie cutter patio and we wanted a hardscape access to the pool that was exposed from the ground level anywhere from 12 inches to 30 inches. We spent approx. 3 weeks during the planning process. Paul made multiple visits, created multiple 3 dimensional drawings of the plan and worked diligently in the material selection process to arrive at a design that had the look and feel we were after. His efforts during the planning and design resulted in virtually no changes to the plan during installation and no changes in materials.
The work went fast, The crew worked hard, the site was kept as clean as you could expect given the size and scope and volume of materials delivered. The only delays were weather related. They stayed on the job until it was finished. Material deliveries were scheduled timely so as to not create any delays. There were no complaints from neighbors as to any mess on the street. There was only an 8-10 foot wide area for skid loader access to the construction area and the crew avoided any damage to the neighbors lawn.
It has been almost 10 months since completion. We wanted to wait for the area to weather the winter season to see how everything withstood the heaving due the freeze/frost cycle etc. I would say everything stood up well. We have one small area on the raised pool entrance deck that requires a small repair due to some apparent loss of some underlying base over the winter. We contacted Paul Devine in May and he was quick to respond and he is scheduled to come and fix the problem in early June.

Overall the project turned out OK.  The retaining wall and waterfall feature were very nice (this is their strength!) and we were happy with this portion of the engagement.
The problems for us occurred during cleanup and sodding as this was extremely poorly done.  Literally for months afterward we found old retaining wall blocks just thrown into the woods behind our house and at least 75' of black edging material was simply ground into the dirt.  We kept finding this over time and had to make a trip to the dump to dispose of all of this extra material.
The yard was not leveled and we were short over 50 rolls of sod and what was laid down was done poorly (not nearly enough black dirt) and very quickly on a Friday afternoon.
I would use them again for paver/retaining wall work but nothing else as the mess left behind left a sour taste in our mouths...
Our neighbors also used this company and had the exact same experience...
Response from Devine Design Hardscapes
"Thank you for your critique. I am sorry to hear that we fell short of expectation in the sod/dirt/land clearing department. As you fairly pointed out, this is not our area of expertise as we offer hardscape services and only perform services like sod and land clearing as sidenotes to large hardscape projects and this particular project eliminated some hardscape features between inception and installation due to a property dispute with the association. Based on this review, we will make changes this year to provide a higher level of service. I plan to hire a softscaper exclusively for this type of work next year. Thank you for your kind words regarding the retaining wall and paver landing construction as this is our specialty and where we take great pride in providing a very high level of service. Kind regards, Paul and crew"

Wanted to capture most of my water runoff by installing a permeable drive way.  Paul's company has done this for several commercial customers, and I selected him based on his past work and willingness to work with me and my project.
Paul was even very helpful in helping me rework my previous pavor project to blend in with the overall driveway
