Great! It was a tricky project and they stuck with it. They even came back to finish the clean up fully.

Started by calling the original company who put in the well by the name of Sampson Brothers Well Co. The phone automatically linked to Mantyla Well Drilling. Jeff came out to look at the problem. Said he was sure we had a broken water line. I asked what the cost would be and he said it depends on how many feet and would let me know. Crew showed up two days later and dug 3 deep holes and could not find the water line. One of the holes was at the base of a very old oak and tree roots were totally severed. Later that evening when I went to review the work I noticed a stream of water running down the hill. We looked online to see if there was an emergency number to contact the company. We called the number a couple times but no one returned the call over the holiday weekend. Jeff decided the best way to finish the job was by using a directional borer when they returned a week later. He still did not have the cost for me. I came home from work and the the crew was loading up after the job was completed. There is a pile of concrete in the basement where they brought the water into the house and the rough finish to the yard is very unsightly. The bill was incredibly high, labor rate ranges from $130 to $150 per hour. The water does work. We were told we would have more water pressure but we do not.

We woke to find that we had no water service from our well. Called Mantyla and they were able to send a technician out within 2 hours. He arrived right on time; checked the system and found the faulty pressure tank switch, replaced and reset the system. During the whole repair visit he explained how the system worked, what he had done to locate the issue and what was required to repair it. Not only did we get our water back but household water pressure was significantly increased. He also took the time to answer questions I had about our well pump.
This was obviously a small job compared to the actual drilling of a well, but I would not hesitate to recommend these folks and plan to use them again should we have additional well issues in the future.
Cost includes approximately 1.5-2 hr service call and replacement part. I have nothing to compare this cost to, but based on response time; professionalism, quality of work and explanation of the repair I felt the charges were fair.

Workers were very friendly.  However some of the work was not very professional.

 - Project Manager explained that they need to use a "precision" boring machine to run the line under the house

since our house had a double wall

 - When it came time to drill the "precision" hole, instead of using a mason bit with a hammer drill or something similar, they went to smashing a 2 foot by 1 foot hole in my basement floor with a sledge hammer and inadvertently destroyed part of the in-floor HVAC duct.  I asked if they would repair that or at least help me repair it and they said "we don't do that"

- When they dug the hole in the front yard, they cut the power lines going to the well pump (not uncommon).  However, instead of installing new conduit and repairing the line right then and there, they said, they needed to come back to finish the job.  However, we didn't hear from them for 3 days (but they already sent us the bill!!), so I had to call to get them to come back out and by that time the ground was frozen so the repairmen had to make a makeshift conduit which looks horrible and unprofessional.  Fortunately, we have a fake rock to cover the well pump and it was large enough to cover the "modified" conduit.

- The project manager did give us a discount on the overall bill, but it seemed that he put that on the bill to offset 2 extra hours of back hoe service.

1) Called for the free estimation appointment.
2) The sale rep (manager) came on time. Explained to me the work needed to be done. And I received the estimation two days later as promised.
3) After interviewed five contractors (companies), I have decided to to with Mantyla Well Drilling, even though the price that they quoted was not the lowest. The reasons that I picked this company were:
a) Inputs from customers' Angies; sList review comments.
b) Fair and reasonable price estimation and "what if..." condition listed on the contract.
c) Honest conversation and straight forward answers.
d) Friendly and efficient personnel when I called in for questions and the quick responses of their follow up actions/answers.
4) On the day to start the job (abandonment of the well), two tech members from the company came on time. They were polite, friendly, patience and worked tirelessly. They knew their stuff and very professional. At the middle of the job, an un-expected
issued came up due to some unknown factors of the aged well, I was a little bit concerned; but they were calm and finally
figured out how to fix the issues in no time. The abandonment was successfully completed as expected (amazingly closed
to the hours that they have estimated). They cleaned up everything without leaving a single mess in my place before leaving. Both my husband and I were very please. They indicated that they would return in one week to refill the cement in the well after the first
filling was settled.
5) The two same members returned in one week to refill the cement into the well. Job was kinda considered done, even though the cement that was put in to fill the well will take weeks (may be months) to settle down to a subtle level. I called them, the company
indicated whenever I think there is issue, they will return for the fix. So far so good. I am satisfied with their job. Highly recommend this company,

My house is 60 years old, and it has a well in a basement room that extends from the foundation. I have not used the well for many years, and I contacted Mantyla to seal it per abandonment procedures. I was happy with their work. It was a cold day, and they were sensitive to keeping the outside door closed each time they used it. In addition, they cleaned up a small mess of debris and water in the basement. Mantyla filed the WELL AND BORING SEALING RECORD with Minnesota Department of Health.

Our water stopped completely. Mantyla came out, identified the problem as a broken wire from snow removal and fixed it. They showed up when they said and were very helpful. We have used them before with good results and will use them again.

Mantyla did a very professional job. Great people to work with. I was afraid we'd have to pay more than the $1265 estimate because the pipe removal was difficult and took longer than anticipated due to the leather gasket binding at the bottom of the pipe. But they didn't charge us extra. We highly recommend them.

We were having issues with our well pump in that it was running too frequently (almost constantly).

Called Mantyla Well Drilling and he was able to come out right away on his way back from another job. Couldn't believe how fast he was able to come out.

Quickly identified our issue as low pressure in the system and also a faulty pressure switch. He spent almost 2 hours doing service and replacing the switch and educating me about use of a well pump. He was friendly and worked quickly, and did not mind at all the questions I asked.

He was extremely knowledgeable. Turns out he had installed the well pump originally and so was also able to give us some additional advice and a heads-up on upcoming maintenance we should do.

Overall a wonderful experience! I would certainly hire again for any future work!

Work was scheduled 9 days after receipt of bid. Crew arrived on time. All work was completed in less then time estimated. Work and workers were professional. Job was completed perfectly. No mess was left, lawn was not damaged(Truck had to park on lawn to remove well). Official paperwork from the state was received promptly. I would use them again with extreme confidence!
Final cost: $660. Yes, this was less then their bid!

My experience was great. They were good and they did a good job. I was blown away with the price since I didn’t have any idea about what well pumps would cost. The guy who came out first was excellent. He gave me his cell phone number and he told me to call him anytime up until 10 o’clock at night. It was when we had a blizzard here and I had to get the whole area plowed out for them to get up to my well. So he told me to let him know when I get that plowed out because they didn’t have a truck to do that. He was very responsive to me every time I called him on the cell phone.

The reason I gave a few B's for these folks is that when I called them, I was told that they would call on Monday and schedule an appointment. However, they were on their way when they called having not prescheduled and I wasn't home. They talked to my daughter and the contractors who were working on the house. The contractors insisted that the Mantyla technicians didn't know what they were doing and wasted my money because the plumbing contractor had installed a new well tank properly. I beg to disagree. Mantyla fixed a problem but we would need some additional work soon. I will be calling them again to have further work done on the well mechanism.

Responded quickly to my call on a Saturday and gave me the choice to have the work done on the weekend at twice the labor price or wait until Monday. I chose to wait until Monday, when they arrived promptly and completed the work without fuss or delay. They explained the process to me as they went along and didn't seem to mind me hanging around and asking questions. I was charged accurately for the three hours of labor it took to do the work. I gave a 'B' for price because it SEEMED like the cost of the materials was rather high, but I really don't have much to judge that against.
