Excellent Tree Service... This is the second time I have used Northern Arborists. The first time a few years ago was to prune branches on four trees. Gary the owner is friendly, easy going, and very knowledgeable about cutting and growing trees. Gary provided a reasonable quote to take down a medium size dying Maple tree between our houses. His crew are professionals and very polite. They don't use boom lifts. They climb into and dismantle the tree in a very safe manner. They also did some pruning of storm damage in my Ash tree. The yard was cleaned up. Very satisfied again.

Northern Arborists was responsive to what we were looking for, and the services that they provided, and I plan to use them again.

They're great. We've used them for years and they do top notch work. A few years ago we had a wind storm and all of our neighbors lost limbs and we only lost one small limb because we have them trimmed and taken care of.

They've always been an A. I always thought their price is quite reasonable. They have always been on time, take care of the trees, that have been turned off during the nature wind damage under the trees over the years. Despite other trees along our neighborhood they are falling down, we never had that big problem, because they kept them alive, kept them all trimmed.

They're an A, they plant some new trees for us, they do trimming, and then they put in some new trees, took the old ones down.

They are extremely knowlegable, professional and show up on time. The quality of their work was excellent.

Gary and his team were there about 8:30 in the morning after traveling 30 minutes to the site.  Made preparations for days activity and waited until 9am before starting power saws in respect to neighbors which I felt was very professional and thoughtful.

Team worked hard and diligently for 1 1/2 days, not wasting any time.  They take all safety precautions.  Gary is an arborist and knows his stuff.  I depend on his expertise.  
Gary's team cleaned up the yard of the bigger branches and mulched them up for us.   Of course anytime you have this many trees trimmed there is always the million little twigs that drop which need to be raked.  The branches that dropped in the landscape were a little hard to see, so it took several weeks for us as, homeowners to get them all out.
Gary consulted with me on questionable issues and made certain I was kept in the loop.  He gave me helpful suggestions along the way which was much appreciated.  Another one of the things I really like is Gary, the owner, was on site most all the time managing the process unlike most other tree services. This is exceptional if you have ever had tree services before.
I added a few extra requests for service as the job went along and Gary was very accomodating.
Gary has trimmed my trees for 20 years.  He is the best.  Really nice guy, honest, dependable and thoughtful.

Gary and crew have been trimming our trees for years, including our previous home. This time they came out in very early spring to trim our two oak trees. Despite the deep snow, they were able to reach the trees, trim them of dead wood, and in the case of the boulevard tree, raise the crown well above the reach of trucks on the street, and our own vehicles on the driveway. They do an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards also.

Everything went well. They came out and did the work they were supposed to do. They were very responsive to me and the owner was very knowledgeable about trees. Scheduling went well and they were 2 people here doing the work. I felt the price was reasonable for what they did.

Provided a free estimate, including helpful advice regarding the trees on our property.  Pruning was completed within one morning and the yard was clean when they left.  The trees looked great!

Gary came to our home and provided an estimate and assessment of our trees and options for replacements. Since we weren't in a hurry to have the work done, he arranged to call us a day in advance of when we would come out and do the work, which he did. His crew came while we were at work, completed the job, and cleaned up so well, you wouldn't know there were ever trees there to begin with.

Northern Arborists is a great company to work with.  Our experience began with an appointment with Gary to discuss what needed to be done.  We walked the yard and learned quite a bit about trees, including their health, age, and any issues they had.  Gary is a wonderful person who is very knowledgeable.  He is also conservative in his assessments, ready to recommend a wait and see approach to see how the tree will handle stresses, etc.
He was able to schedule us in the time frame we requested.  The crew was top notch!  Polite and ready to explain what they are working on.  The heat and humidity was horrible and yet they worked hard.  The yard, street, and driveway were completely cleared of debris.  At the end they used a blower to get every speck of saw dust.  The yard looked better when they left than when they arrived.

It went great. Gary and his crew are very knowledgeable and conscientious ...and they value trees and their beneficial effects in our community. Gary selected the trees and had them delivered the day they were to be planted...We had worked together to identify the location for each tree so his crew was able to begin the preparations before the trees arrived. We Northern Arborists high marks and recommend them without hesitation.

Excellent, they were on time, very professional, clean up, and work were excellent.

I got two quotes and this was cheaper by about 20%. Gary was very responsive and stopped out to give me a quote within 12 hours of my first call. His philosophy is more of a minimalist approach, meaning that he likes to clean up bad spots in the tree but don't take more than is necessary. In regards to the other quote I got, the arborist wanted to take a lot more of the tree and shape it quite a bit more, this is probably why the other quote was more expensive. I decided to go with Northern Arborists and they did the work within a week of asking them to finish. They cleaned up the tree and didn't do more work than necessary. If I had it to do over again. I might have asked them to trim some of the scraggly branches, but that's maybe due to my own inexperience in working with an arborist. Overall, I think things went well.

Gary, who runs the company, had come by and we had talked about what we wanted done. and he made a few suggestions about ways to improve the situation for trees remaining, either trimming of some large ones, or removal of a few small ones to make room for other plantings.  They arrived on time, did the work we agreed on, Gary was present much of the time and we talked about the process here and there as they went along, though it would not be necessary for anyone who hired them to be present, I would say.  They cleaned up afterwards, ground up tree material, and cleaned up the twigs etc. on the street.  The crew seemed very competent; one of them, I know, has worked for Gary for a number of years.  I think their prices are comparable to others; of course I always wish it could be less, but I have done some comparison pricing and they were in the same ballpark.  We have had Garry and crew do work for us before and have been satisfied.

We have used Northern Arborists a few times over the last 10 years or so.  When we decided that this tree needed to come down, we didn't hesitate to call them again.  Gary is prompt and very professional.  His crew has always been courteous and hard working.  In the past, he has made suggestions to improve the health of our existing trees and has given us good suggestions for replacement trees.  This time, I called him on Moday, he came out on Wednesday for the estimate, and on Friday the tree was gone.  Every bit of the debris was cleaned up.  Except for the space, you'd never know there had been a tree there.  We would highly recommend him and will call him again when we need further tree service.

The section above should have captured the entire process, but I will add that when Gary came out to review our request, he explained that he uses three-legged ladders to get to the top of the trees, and the wrap they use blends into the trees.  He said unless we made a thorough examination, we would not see the wrap, and that's correct.  He also explained that it's advisable to gently remove the wet, heavy snow from the bent-over limbs to remove the stress.

I asked him to look at another tree that has a problem, and he explained that the roots are girdled, and nothing could be done to alleviate the situation.  We learned a lot from his comments and would certainly call him again.

Completely satisfied with the work. The work was done on time, at the quoted price, and cleanup was very thorough. Delayed start of work to avoid damage to lawn.

Went great, we called Gary for an estimate and set up appointment. Pierce and Doug did the work in one day. The yard was not damaged at all and they cleaned up really well. Gary followed up and suggested we contact the country tree expert regarding one tree (which we did). Everyone was on time and helpful.
