We hired Lawns Are Us in August of 2018 (AKA Lawns-r-us and TCS, they have to do business under several names due to poor business practices). They came in with a competitive bid and tons of promises. Said it should only take 12 working days to do the job. We knew it was going to take more than that, but willing to move forward. The first week went relatively smooth other than the payments. They demanded to be paid upfront and every 3 days. The problem with this, is once they have their money, they have zero motivation to return to the job. Morgan said they had to quick do another job that would take 2 days tops....21 days later I was screaming at him to return. No apologies, and only false promises throughout the 3 weeks, "we'll be there tomorrow" and never shows. While they were away, it rained significantly and with our project left open, the water got under our pool and floated our pool liner (of which they accepted 0 responsibility for). Then came our pavilion. They didn't measure their footings for it correctly and it wasn't square. We incurred an additional $2500 from the builder to custom cut the entire pavilion. Morgan accepted the fact they screwed up, but in no way was going to cover any of the extra costs. His son Mark who is "In charge" couldn't have been worse to deal with. Refused to admit he screwed it up, even when his own builder told him it was screwed up. By this time it was early November and winter was here. They were only 75% done with our project, but fully paid for all of their work done. Morgan assured me that we were the first on the list in the spring. Spring came and nothing but broken promises, said they were coming for a month and never showed up. They left our whole side yard mud, a huge pile of rock, dirt and garbage in our front yard that we stared at for 6 months. They screwed up our outdoor kitchen (Again Mark can't read a tape measure), the openings for the grills were off and the entire bar was not square nor level. When we got real contractors out to finish it, their quote was "Whoever did this work shouldn't be installing bird baths, much less backyards." When the real contractors went to plant shrubs, we discovered, Lawns-R-Us threw rock and poly over an old rock bed. Now we have to dig it all out by hand and bring dirt in by hand. Finally the icing on the cake, we went to turn on the irrigation they installed and 1 of the old zones won't turn on, and everything they did in our backyard had to be re-done by professionals. They installed the drip lines ON THE OTHER SIDE OF OUR FENCE! And where there was no fence, they put the drip lines tight against the concrete. Last time I checked, concrete doesn't need water to survive, plants do. When any of this is brought to their attention, Mark becomes the worst person to deal with. He tries to tell you how difficult you are, he should flipping burgers, not landscaping. Zero customer service, and just a horrible person. When you pay $80k for a hack job that wasn't finished, you get upset. So to recap: -Screwed up our pavilion $2500 additional -Screwed up grill openings, have to live with it -Screwed up bar level $1200 additional -Pool liner floated $1000 additional -Quoted a countertop that wasn't available, next option was additional $2500 -Underbid loads of dirt removed (by 25 truckloads!) additional $5500 -Bar not square, just going to have to live with it off by 4" -Drains settled $250 additional to fix -Screwed up irrigation $1500 additional to fix -Screwed up shrub beds $1000 to fix -Put capstone on upside down $500 to fix -Put end piece of capstone in the middle $200 fix -Everything along the way was nickel and dimed, he wouldn't pickup a softball size piece of concrete left behind with trying to stick it to you. Out of all the contractors I've had at my home or business, they are hands down, THE WORST! And they charge and act like they are a premier landscape company, but couldn't be further from it. Learn from my mistakes and don't ever let these guys touch your project, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

The rock wall work was well done. We had trouuble with the hydro seeding taking hold. We also had significant washing on both sides of the house. Lawns R Us gave us a bid for putting an underground drain on the west side of the house but the price was so high we opted to just try landscape seed blankets again. We paid 50% of the drain job as a downpayment before changing our mind. To date, we have not recieved a refund of the balance of what we paid and the value of the work they performed. The grass has not taken in our back yard. We have re seeded one ourselves, and have just hired another contractor to reseed this spring.

"I just found out about this note the member wrote in May of 2009. They are very nice people. I was not aware that this had gone this far. I understood that we could do some little service jobs in the future to get this paid down. We did a nice size job for the member, all went just great completed in July of 2006 total project quoted = $32,059.00 total billed & paid $32,059.00. The next spring he called me over to see what we could do about some washouts in his yard. this was a new project not connected to the job we did the year before. I quoted the project, line item clearly stating all units & total price. The member actually came over to my office signed the contract, gave us a credit card to use for the deposit & we scheduled the project to start & end within 15 days. About 1 week later he called & said he wanted to just do the dirt, seeding & seed blanket, not to do the inlets with tile or berm. I reminded him that this could possibly fail because there would be a lot of water running in a narrow spot if we did not put in the inlet with tile. Any heavy rains & it could wash out. He said he would like to take that chance. So we did the dirt fill, grading, seeding & seed blanket project. I offered other services to use up the balance, he was not sure if there was any he needed at the time. I was not aware the seed did not take in the back lawn. We responded to all issues the day we were notified about them. We do not offer a cash back refund in a situation like this. If he had canceled within 3 - 4 days we would have. The member decided not to do the drainage part of the project. Without this establishing turf would take a lot more time if it rained heavy at all. Not much I can do to stop it from raining hard. We did re seed numerous times at no additional charge. The final cost was not higher than estimated. Our figures were exactly what we quoted. What happened is they gave us 1 deposit & 10 days later wanted to change the scope of the job. We did just a portion of the job. We had purchased materials even delivered some that we did use, had to reload them & haul back to our yard. We offered to provide other services at a reduced price to use up the balance of the deposit. We still would offer them 50% more work than they paid to settle this friendly. He was not gouged. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM BEGINNING TO END. COMPANY MADE ALL KINDS OF PROMISES TO GET THE BUSINESS. THEY CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD TWICE FOR THE 50% DEPOSIT AND THEN DIDN'T PERFORM ANY WORK FOR OVER TWO WEEKS. THEY WOULDN'T REVERSE CHARGES FOR THE OVER-BILLING. THEY PROMISED TO DO THE WORK IN A FEW DAYS...AND THEN KEPT PUSHING IT OFF. WE NEVER SAW ANY KIND OF FOREMAN - WE HAD TO SUPERVISE WORKERS. LAWNS R US LIED ABOUT THE SERVICES THEY WOULD PROVIDE..THEY PROMISED TO RE-SPRAY AND FILL IN WASH-OUT IMMEDIATELY SO WE WOULDN'T LOOSE OUR TOPSOIL - BUT DIDN'T FOR OVER THREE WEEKS. THEY CHARGED US MORE THEN THE QUOTE AND FOR SERVICES THEY DIDN'T PERFORM, INCLUDING A $100 CHARGE FOR REMOVING A LENGTH OF SILT FENCE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SPRAY OUT THE SPRINKLERS IN THE FALL - BUT NOW WANT $80 TO DO IT. OUR LAWN LOOKS TERRIBLE AND WE WILL HAVE TO SOD PART OF IT IN THE SPRING. THE COMPANY IS VERY DISORGANIZED, STAFF MEMBER WERE VERY RUDE AND EVEN THREATENING. I WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN!!

"WE JUST BECAME AWARE OF THIS REPORT THIS WEEK. SOME OF THE EXACT DETAILS ARE UNCLEAR. 1ST THING, THE MEMBERS ARE GOOD PEOPLE, I JUST PLAIN SHOULD HAVE SOLD THEM SOD IN PLACE OF HYDRO SEEDING. HYDRO SEEDING TAKES UP TO 90 DAYS TO ESTABLISH, THEY NEEDED QUICKER RESULTS. I BELIEVE THIS LETTER IS UNREASONABLE & FALSELY ACCUSES LAWNS R US. THE MEMBER'S PROJECT STARTED OFF WITH OUR BOOKKEEPER PROCESSING A CREDIT CARD DEPOSIT, WRONGLY THOUGHT THE 1ST ATTEMPT DID NOT WORK, SO SHE DID IT AGAIN. BOTH ACTIONS WENT THROUGH. THIS WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE. WE EITHER IMMEDIATELY REVERSED THE 2ND CHARGE OR CREDITED THE CHARGE AGAINST THE JOB. THE DELAY IN FINISHING THE WORK WAS WEATHER. THIS JOB IS ON A HILL WITH VERY NARROW ACCESS, NO WAY TO GET THIS JOB DONE IN A WET CONDITION. THERE WAS ALWAYS A SUPERVISOR ON THE JOB, 100% OF THE TIME. THE MEMBER DID NOT HAVE TO SUPERVISE THE CREW, HE MAY HAVE TOLD THEM THE LIMITS OF YOUR YARD. HE MAY HAVE ASKED FOR A BOULDER TO BE MOVED. HE DID NOT SUPERVISE THE PROJECT. LAWNS R US DID NOT LIE ABOUT ANYTHING. WE ONLY WAITED TO RESEED FOR THE RAINS TO END, SOIL TO DRY & AFTER 3 WEEKS WE WOULD HAVE SOME GRASS GROWING, THIS WOULD HELP HOLD THE NEW SEED IN PLACE. THIS WHOLE PROCESS WAS EXPLAINED ALMOST DAILY TO THE MEMBERS. WE DID FERTILIZE THE LAWN AT LEAST 3 TIMES AFTER SEEDING. WE ALSO RE SEEDED THE LAWN AT LEAST 2 TIMES. WE DID NOT CHARGE MORE FOR SERVICES. THE ONLY WAY WE COULD GET PAID ON THIS JOB WAS TO GIVE SOME SERVICES AWAY. I CAN PRODUCE A COPY OF THE 2 INVOICES. THE LAST ONE CLEARLY SHOWS WE HAD TO DISCOUNT THE PROJECT $427.50. I HAVE COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION TO BACK UP HOW THIS JOB WENT. THE MEMBERS ARE NICE PEOPLE, WHEN 1ST BIDDING THE JOB, I SHOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED THAT HYDRO SEEDING WAS NOT THE CORRECT PRODUCT FOR THEM. I SHOULD HAVE RECOMMENDED THE MORE EXPENSIVE PRODUCT, SOD. NONE OF PROBLEMS CITED WERE REPAIRED. MESSAGE FROM LRU 10/26 THAT ALL WORK WAS DONE, PLEASE SEND CHECK. RESPONDED 10/29 NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE EXCEPT FERTILIZING. LEFT MESSAGE INVITING LRU TO WALK YARD W/ME SO WE COULD RESOLVE. NEVER A RESPONSE. 11/6 OUR NANNY SAID SOMEONE WAS WALKING IN THE BACK YARD BUT NO ONE CAME TO DOOR TO DISCUSS. FAXED LRU 11/9 TO CONFIRM INTENTIONS TO FINISH JOB. RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. FAXED ON 11/18 DEMANDING A REFUND. REPORT TO AUTHORITIES IF NO REFUND BY 11/23. 11/20 MR. LLOYD CALLED, BLAMED ME FOR PROBLEMS FOR GETTING UPSET AT HIS NOT SHOWING UP WHEN PROMISED. HE AGREED THE YARD WAS TOO WET WHEN THEY DID THE JOB. OFFERED TO FIX THE LAWN NEXT SPRING . CONSIDERED OFFER. OKAY IF 1/2 DEPOSIT RETURNED AS SECURITY AGAINST NO SHOW. NO RESPONSE TO PHONE MESSAGE AND FAX. HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION AND YARD PHOTOS TO SUPPORT CLAIM.
