We first saw Natural Landscape and Design and met Jim at their State Fair exhibit.  We immediately fell in love with the unique rock benches they produce over the winter months.  Over the course of about 5 years we continued research our options (and save money) by looking at several landscapers and getting quotes.  We finally settled on Natural Landscape and Design but more importantly we settled on signing with Jim.  Jim was everything we liked in a contractor: kind, polite, knowledgeable, experienced, honest, on-time, and a good value.  From the first time we met to the moment the trucks pulled away from the house the project went according to plan.  What was said was done!  That's very important to me and my wife.
On the day the work was to begin the crew, and Jim, showed up on time.  The first thing done was to outline the project on the ground so we were all in agreement on size and location.  This was a good thing because we decided to expand our original design slightly because it looked too small.  We are very happy with that decision.  Jim asked about all of our landscaping plans and was sure to include a future privacy berm in the planning of the fire pit patio. Jim and the crew also carefully measured the grade/slope of our entire backyard to ensure the new patio was installed with the slope going in the correct direction so water run off will not be a issue for us. It was a good idea that Jim asked for either me or my wife be home during the installation as there were several decisions on placement of rocks (size, direction, location) and benches that made the finished product exactly what we wanted. 
The entire crew was amazing.  They were fast, professional, detail oriented, cleanly, and most important they were very good at their job.  They even helped me out on a project I was doing myself in the front yard which saved my back several hours of work.  When it was all said and done they had entire project completed and the site cleaned up in about 15 hours.  I can honestly say that when the trucks pulled away from the house there was not a single thing my wife and I would have changed about new our patio area.  It is truly perfect and we can't stop looking out windows and wishing we were on it.  This is Minnesota so as I speak it's 34 degrees on Mother's Day :)
We have had about dozen neighbors stop by to look at the patio and marvel at how fast and well it was installed. We live on a corner lot so everything we do in our yard is on display for the entire neighborhood!  Jim and his entire crew truly did an amazing job from start to finish and left our family with something we will enjoy for many years to come.  In my experience as a homeowner it's not common for a contractor to do the "perfect" job but our new patio and surrounding area are truly better than we envisioned.   I highly recommend Natural Landscape Design!

JIM HANSON (THE OWNER) IS JUST LIKE MOST OTHERS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. HE APPEARS TO HAVE TOO MANY JOBS GOING ON TO CARE MUCH ABOUT ANY PARTICULAR CUSTOMER. FOR STARTERS, WE POINTED OUT A GRADING ISSUE TO HIM THAT HE WAS GOING TO RESOLVE WITH THE BUILDER BEFORE HE LAID SOD AND INSTALLED THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. THIS ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND WE HAVE BEEN PLAGUED WITH POOR DRAINAGE ON OUR LOT EVER SINCE. ANOTHER ISSUE EARLY ON RESULTED FROM A SPECIAL REQUEST WE MADE WHEN JIM VISITED OUR HOME BEFORE THE WORK BEGAN. THIS REQUEST WAS NOT EXECUTED BY HIS CREW AND HE HAD TO COME BACK TO DO THE WORK WE HAD REQUESTED. LASTLY, THE COMPANY DID REPAIR WORK ON POTHOLES WE HAD IN VARIOUS PLACES IN OUR YARD AND IT WAS MEDIOCRE WORK. ASIDE FROM THESE ISSUES, THERE HAVE BEEN THE STANDARD ISSUES WITH CONTRACTORS, WHICH INCLUDES UNRESPONSIVENESS TO EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS. WE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS ON DEAD AND DYING TREES FOR WEEKS. THIS COMPANY IS MARGINAL, AT BEST.
