Wonderful. We actually received a flyer in the mailbox, so I looked at this contractor on Angie's List and saw the good reviews. We hired this company on June 21st and then worked with their wonderful designers Tamra and Susan to make our selections in all of the materials. Everyone was professional and very easy to work with. Our job began the end of September and Chris kept everyone working in sync and kept us informed on the progress with weekly updates. They provided us with a binder that showed when each portion of the work would be done which we looked at frequently. We ran into a bump in the progress with the tub we selected, but they quickly solved that problem. Tile work and everything turned out beautiful, and we were very pleased that we hired this contractor. Even Lori (the woman who came to clean in the end) was great. Wished I could have kept her, but it isn't in the cards. I hope some day to have the smaller bath remodeled, and I would definitely hire this company for that job as well.

It's been two years since McDonald Remodeling finished our home project and I still get the "I can't believe this is my house" feeling whenever I walk in the door.  We interviewed a few remodelers and they were the ones who truly listened to what we wanted, and did not try to tell us what we needed.  Their process is extremely organized and detailed--something very much appreciated when deciding to live without a kitchen and bathroom for four months--we were a bit extreme--but we wanted the process to move as quickly as possible.  The design process was extremely helpful--we saw our house take shape on screen; we had pictures to bring home and consider, and they were great about making changes along the way.  Every person we worked with conveyed the feeling that they wanted us to be happy with the end result--we didn't feel as those our questions were bothersome or that any changes we requested would get in their way--it really felt like they wanted us to be happy with the home when they were finished.  When a small issue popped up a few months after completion, they happily sent someone out to fix it.  Tearing off half of your home is a stressful and significant life event--McDonald made the process as painless as they could and if there was anything left to do on my home, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Everything went well.  Excellent workmanship from both the contractors carpenters/ full time staff and all the subs they have used for many years.  Very professional, but friendly and engaging too.

In general, the whole design and build process went great. The fact that I only had a few quibbles is a testament to McDonald's commitment to service. Going into the project, I had already had heard an earful of horror stories about remodels that had gone way wrong, way over budget and lasted way longer than promised. So--I was prepared to deal with a lot of hassles. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised that the entire process was largely hassle-free.
We met with Greg (the company co-owner) initially and he was a very approachable and informative guy. His attitude was basically: if something goes wrong, we will find a way to fix it in a timely and transparent fashion. The design process was fun--involving a lot of collaboration and 3D computer models. My wife had a few minor concerns about the communication between the designer and Greg--but in the grand scheme of things, these issues were resolved quite quickly and to our satisfaction.
McDonald created a firm timeline for the construction process, mapped it out for us and were very diligent about sticking to that schedule. Their subcontractors did solid work and were very friendly and punctual. The project manager Kevin was very responsive to texts, emails and phone calls throughout the process--and always followed up in a timely fashion.
The end product turned out great. We really enjoy living in our new space and feel good about the decision to sink the time and money into the project.
A few extra notes:

I would say that McDonald is not the company that will get the job done for the lowest bid. Part of what you pay for is the planning, the communication and the reliability--which, in a bigger project that takes months, is pretty important.
Also--they did a nice job of dealing with a less-than-responsive cork wall company. It took forever to get the cork tiles, but McDonald was on them consistently--advocating for expeditious delivery of our product. When the tiles finally arrived, they were still saturated with water. We waited several days to put them up, but they still shrank on the wall as the tiles lost moisture--exposing the dryway beneath. Pretty ugly. McDonald brokered a deal with the company to get replacement tiles out at no additional cost--and offered to redo the job for free. I think this was the fair and right thing to do--but I can imagine some companies not following through on this.
So.....big picture: they did a great job, they did it on time and they were courteous and fair. I would use them again for another homereomdeling project in a heart beat.

It went great. From start to finish. We had never done anything like this before and Todd made it a great experience. Todd helped us understand what our budget would cover and plan accordingly. The work went smoothly and was done in LESS time that we were told. All the workers who came to the house were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. We intend to get the rest of the basement finished in the future and will use them for sure!

They were fantastic to work with - from the beginning of the project they were very easy to get in contact with and showed a highly professional work ethic. They were also willing to work with us in regards to our schedule - with such an extensive remodel there were many meetings and they were always able to accomodate us when our work made it a little difficult to get away. Todd and Chris, the project managers, did a great job in putting together proposals for us and in helping us find ways to make what we wanted fit within our budget. They were not only able to start the project early but kept us in the loop on the progress and was always available for any questions that we had. Their subs were also professional and did high quality work (especially the guy who did our floors). Anne was a godsend in regards to picking out interior design items for the house - she really helped us figure out how best to reflect our own personal style and never tried to push a particular product or idea on us. We absolutely love the way our home turned out and would not hesitate to use their services again or recommend them to anybody that we know.

McDonald's did a design-build, and the result is better than we could have hoped. The whole process went smoothly. Obviously, with a 50-year old space, there are going to be unexpected problems, but every situation was dealt with professionally and smoothly. All the workers were thoughtful and considerate and very good at what they do. Ours was probably a and quot;small projectand quot; for this company, but they did not push our project down the list. In fact, when the Home Shows came along and their business picked up, they asked if we minded having some of the work done on a weekend, then ended up finishing our bathroom a week ahead of schedule.

I would hire McDonalds again for any project, and I highly, highly recommend them.

I was really satisfied with everything that they did. The person I dealt with was always on time. He was punctual. He did everything he could to make sure that we were happy with the work. I would recommend that people seriously consider them if they had a similar project. I will be using them in the spring.

McDonald was very responsive and professional in all our interactions with their company. Greg (President) was very good at following up to any questions or concerns we had, and Chris (Site Manager) was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great experience with this company and would definitely use them again! The work was done with a high quality, on schedule, and we were continually updated on their progress. The workers left the house very clean and picked up after themselves. All of the subcontractors were very professional. We were not sure what features / options we wanted, and they did a great job suggesting ideas for the colors and designs. Anne (Interior Designer) was a huge help in color selection for the paint and stain colors for the entertainment cabinet. We also wanted updated lighting installed on the main floor of our home. Our family room on the main floor did not have any overhead lighting, and McDonald did a great job getting can lights installed by pulling up the upstairs carpeting. I was somewhat overwhelmed by the entire project, and they were with us every step of the way, ensuring it was a great experience! I thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone on their team! We love our new basement and are thrilled with the results!

The work was excellent. The work was completed in phases over the course of a year and we had consultations with Jim and his staff for each of the projects above for design, material/color selection, and planning meetings. Even though we had an idea of what we wanted, Jim and his team made suggestions to create much better designs. There is always the unexpected when remodeling, and we were made fully aware of all necessary changes to the projects. The work crew did an excellent job of troubleshooting problems and were very careful to keep the job site clean and keep us informed about the work schedule so we could plan our family activities without interruption. In cases where other contractors were involved, they were always of the highest quality in terms of workmanship and professionalism. It was a real advantage to have an interior designer on the McDonald Remodeling team because we had some 80's color schemes to work around without completely re-doing the entire house.
