I chose WBHC because they have been a great service company since I moved to MN in 2007. Before I found WBHC a few years ago, I had a couple other companies service my furnace and AC as needed. I never really trusted these companies because of the high (and sometimes unnecessary) costs, as well as pushy “replace it now” attitude. WBHC helped with a couple intermittent furnace problems over the years including check-ups, and also tuned my AC when needed. I squeezed as much life out of my old furnace as possible. I called WBHC a few weeks ago to get a revised quote for a complete replacement. I did not get competitive quotes because #1 I checked with some other furnace guys I know and they said yes, this was a fair price – and #2 I thoroughly checked the manufacturers and models they quoted, which were in the top of Consumer Reports and other review sites. I signed the quote and sent them a deposit and hoped they could install it before Christmas when we have a very full house. They completed the install within one week. The day they came they arrived on time, removed the old system and installed the new system, then walked me through everything including the fancy thermostat. They took great care removing the door to the utility room, covering my floors, covering other stuff in the utility room so it would not get dusty or damaged, and cleaning the area after the install was complete. I love the new furnace, humidifier, and thermostat – and especially the comfort of knowing I do not have to worry about a 20yo furnace making it through another Minnesota winter. WBHC was polite, professional, and competitive and I highly recommend them.

Someone came out immediately and took the outside unit cooled it down and explained that he was unable to fix it but was forthright with limitations

Tye Schloer did a great job on getting our A/C back to working again! It appears we need to replace this old unit but for now, he got it working. He was on time, pleasant and very professional. We'll work with him and the company again.

We were dissatisfied with them. We had them identify where the leak was in our system. Their proposed solution was for us to go without heat for 5 days while they ordered the parts to reroute the leak. Our insurance company refused that as a solution and brought in its own contractor. They did not do the work for us but we had to pay $99 for the emergency visit. We would not use them again.

Everyone at White Bear Heating recalls this situation very well: we set up our space heaters throughout your home in order to guarantee that the house would not freeze. Obtaining the part was a priority for us, and as you found out, the part could not be acquired any more quickly by another contractor. All of our company’s space heaters were in use at your home for several weeks. I recall speaking with your wife, when she told me that you had contracted a different company to do the work without her knowing, she was very grateful for all of our work and concern. Regarding the service fee; I feel that it was fair to charge the $99.00, considering we arrived at your home immediately after your phone call (prioritizing homes in danger of freezing), we located the part and followed through with keeping your home above freezing. Also, if you recall, when we tried to get our heaters back, we were told they were lost. We had to replace 6 large space heaters (over $300.00) so that we could furnish another customer with temporary heat. We did our job, gave you the option of allowing us to complete the job, much delay was experienced due to the fact that you were out of town and involving the insurance company. We provided documentation to your insurance provider, and also had a technician communication with them. In closing, I am happy to hear that your heating system was repaired and that your insurance company assisted with the cost. We are a small business and take our customer feedback very seriously. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service coupled with outstanding technical skills. Thank you for providing the opportunity to respond."

The air conditioner was not working and we called them as they were the ones who had installed it 19 years ago. The representative came out and said the air conditioner was dead. They came a week later and installed the air conditioner. It took about 7 hours for them to complete the job. They did a very good job. They were careful about putting the equipment. They matched the size of air conditioner and the furnace to our house size. They made sure we knew how to apply for the rebates and they would process the information for the tax credit. They took care of all those details for us. The price was competitive. They gave us $115 credit on the original inspection. They were punctual and competent. They cleaned up after themselves.
