BLACKSTONE MANOR CLOCK REPAIR

He seems very honest and punctual. He just seemed honest. He answered my questions. He told us what to expect in the future from the clock like what repairs we may need in the next three to five years. He did not push any unnecessary repairs on me. We would use his services again in the future.

The clock had not been functioning properly for 5 yrs since its purchase in a New Orleans antique shop, and had become merely a decorative antique piece for about 30 yrs. Took the clock into Blackstone Manor Clock Repair (selected from Angie's List) to see if they could get it back into working condition. They not only repaired the clock to keep accurate time, but completed the repair in half the estimated time!

I bought a 35+ year old grandfather clock at an estate sale; the clock had not been working for several years and I thought it would be good to have it serviced before having it set up in my home. I took the movement to Blackstone Manor, as this shop specializes in the Kuempel clocks. The works were restored and I took the movement home. Unfortunately, I'm not clock mechanically inclined and I had several calls to the stop to try to steer me in the right diretion. When that didn't solve my dilemma, they stopped by my house and in 10 minutes everything was running! Now that things are in excellent working order, I will next opt for the house call and in home service.

I have everything good to say about them. I am very pleased with their work. They are very professional. They use good quality things. I take my things back safe again. Their price is very good, and they do their work in a timely manner.

I was able to park right infront of the shop on Main Street in Hopkins. Mr. Purdy carried the heavy clock from my car to the shop. He advised me on how I ought to approach the repair explaining the pros and cons of low end and high end repair. He brought out a book that gave me the history on my clock which was a wedding gift to my great grandmother. He called when the clock was ready and I was able again to park right in front of the shop. Mr. Purdy showed me how to operate the clock and instructed me as to its idiosyncracies. He said I could call him any time with questions and he carried the heavy clock to my car for me.

I am the third generation to care for an heirloom clock. It means the world to me and my family. Mark loving restored it to its original glory, both inside and out. He had even consulted an expert in Europe for some details. Once I got it home, it seemed to go awry, as if it didn't want to leave Mark's shop. Once again, I delivered it to Mark's loving hands until he solved the mystery. I don't think there is a clock mystery he could not solve. He is a master craftsman. I am so cautious that I was reluctant to bring the clock home in the chill of winter. Thus I left it ticking safely in Mark's shop until spring. It now keeps perfect time, chiming the quarter hour, and has pride of place in my home. My son will be the fourth generation to take care of this clock and I know that if any questions arise, he can trust Blackstone Manor.

We had a great experience with Blackstone Manor. Mark Purdy and his staff are very professional, personable, and knowledgeable. They were able to give us a little history on our clock -- where it was made, the year (1894), and how much it originally sold for ($11.00!). When the new chime was too quiet, I called in and they told me how to make it louder with a simple adjustment.

I brought the clock mechanism in myself to save the extra expense of them coming to my house. They cleaned and installed new bushings in our 30 year old grandfather clock. (Since I brought it in around the Christmas holidays it took approx. 6 weeks for the work to be completed.) When I got it home I had trouble re-assembling it myself. They patiently helped me over the phone. Then we discovered that its chimes were out of sync. They came to our house for free the next day and repaired it within a half hour. They were very friendly people and will happily go back to them for future clock repair and maintenance.

He was very knowledgeable. He kept me informed of the delays that were going on and let me know what what was going on. It took a little bit longer to fix because it is an antique clock and the parts were hard to find and took longer to get. Besides all of that, they did a great job and I would use them again.

From my first contact with Mark, to the installation everything went smoothly. He was professional, cordial and considerate (when he saw that he was going to be a few minutes later getting to my house than his appointment time he called to ask if it would be alright). While installing the new movement, he took the time to explain various parts of the clock's mechanicals. When he left, I felt that he was the kind of person that if something went wrong with the clock in the future I could count on him to remedy the situation.

They were very personable and they explained a lot to me, and they got the clock to work.

Mr. Purdy and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. They turned our visit to their shop into a field trip on the inner workings of clocks for our children. It was type of establishment which you feel happy supporting.

A few days later Mark called and said the estimate would go up to about $600 due to some damage that was not visible at first. I told him that was fine and to go ahead with the work. He did the work, brought the clock back and set it up for me. It took closer to 8 weeks, but that was OK as I had told him I was not in a rush. He replaced the bell in the clock which was wonderful. The old bell sounded so bad that I had never used it. Now there is a lovely bright bell chime that I really love. After a few days there was a problem with the hour hand on the clock. Mark had warned me that it might be a bit loose. It came loose and jammed the hour hand, stopping the clock. Mark came out the same day that I called him about the problem! He fixed it and showed me how to adjust the speed of the clock if it ran slow or fast. I could not be happier! He did WONDERFUL work! Hire this guy for your clock!

He came out once after another company had worked on it several times. He fixed it first time out.

Mark was wonderful - he came to our house to pick up the clock mechanism and pendulum, and had everything repaired and returned in about a week. The clock has kept perfect time ever since!

The work was performed promptly, very courteously, and the clock is working better than ever!

Mark is excellent. He is careful and has a good warranty. He persists when the work is difficult.

THIS COMPANY WAS EXCELLENT. I WALKED IN, HE FIXED THE CLOCK WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AND CHARGED ME NOTHING. HE WAS ALSO EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. I AM GOING BACK WITH TWO MORE CLOCKS.

WHEN I PICKED UP OUR WALL CLOCK, MARK TOLD ME HOW TO SET IT UP AT HOME. I TRIED TO DO THE STEPS HE HAD OUTLINED BUT THE CLOCK WOULD NOT KEEP TICKING. SUBSEQUENTLY, MARK CAME TO OUR HOME AND CORRECTLY HUNG OUR CLOCK. IT HAS WORKED PERFECTLY SINCE THEN. I WAS EXCEPTIONALLY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE PROVIDED.
