Blackstone did a great job by answering questions on the phone before I brought the old mechanism in and then after I picked it up when I had questions about reinstalling it in the case- they did a great job!

Went great, highly recommend Blackstone Manor. Price was competitive, no angies list discount given, but the service was outstanding. We needed to have a grandfather clock moved without a lot of notice. Mark returned our call on the weekend, and came out on a sunday to move the clock. Got everything set up, walked us through all the care and maintenance (our first grandfather clock, which is a hand-me-down). Great guy, we'll be using them for all future service or repair on this or other clocks, as well as recommending them to family and friends. Thanks Blackstone Manor!

I accidently pulled out the stem from my Seiko wristwatch. The crown came off the stem and I couldn't find it. Although Blackstone Manor advertises themselves as a clock repair shop, they also do watch repair. I took the watch in and they had it back in one week with a new stem, crown, and battery. I was very pleased with the amount they charged. The cost was much cheaper than estimates from people at Ridgedale Mall, who would have had to mail the watch to some central repair shop.

My wife and I have had our antique clock since 1978 (a wedding gift). Over the past several years it stopped running as well as it had in the past, and in recent months it stopped running completely. I searched Angie's List for a reputable repair shop and Blackstone Manor got very high marks. We drove out to Hopkins and found a charming and extremely interesting shop with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. They looked at our clock right away and gave an initial assessment of what it needed and an estimate of the time and expense it would take to repair. Both were reasonable for what we expected, and in fact, the repair was completed earlier than they said it would be. When I picked up the clock, I was told it would be good for another 30-40 years before needing another overhaul, and that I should bring it back to them in four years for routine servicing (oiling) to keep it in good shape. In short, the service I received was excellent, the shop itself is fascinating, and I recommend strongly Blackstone Manor for clock repair.

The employees here are extremely helpful and very useful. They helped me repair my watches multiple times and gave it back to me right away. They are clearly a local business, and they were very pleasant to work with. I would come again if I needed more watches repaired (I have a lot of watches), or if I had a larger clock that needed repairing. I would highly recommend them!

This is the third time I used Blackstone, while they do all types of clocks the clocks I have taken for service or repair are antique French decorative mantel clocks, typically more than 100 years old. I have used other clock repair people but going to Blackstone is the best, they have a team of specialists, an actual store/shop, and their work is exceptional. One clock upon bringing home I had some trouble with it, they took it back, taught me what to do to level/adjust it, and didn't charge, they fully stand behind their work. Also, their turn time is faster than the other local persons I have used (although no matter what it takes time with antiques as they let them run a long period to ensure they are running well). I highly recommend for fine clocks and antiques.

Had a clock inspected in my home and it went relatively well. Full of great information and very honest about the benefit (or lack of) in repairing the clock. The quoted price was extremely high though (especially the $1,000 quote for a new movement that I later found online for $450), but the skill and knowledge was apparent.

I do not know where you found the movement on line for this price. This is less than today's wholesale price from the importers used by most in the Horology field. Obviously there has to be room for profit plus sales tax. This is the reason we talked about the better avenue for you would have been an overhaul of your existing movement. The overhaul plus two house calls would likely have been less than the charges for a new movement. But if you can really buy it for your price I would recommend that be the best route for you to go.

Two months after my father passed away, the chiming clock that he won as "Salesman of the Year" in 1959 stopped running. I had to get it fixed for sentimental reasons. I knew it may be difficult to get the parts, but they were able to do that and restore the clock back to it's former chiming glory. It is actually faster and has crisper chiming now.

I brought in my mother's cuckoo clock that had stopped working. They looked at it and gave me a price and said it would take about 1-2 weeks to fix. Within two weeks they called to let me know the clock was ready. The price was exactly what they had originally quoted me and they explained what they had done to fix the clock. I was so pleased with not only the service but also the price, as they were almost 50% less than the first clock repair store I went to. It's clear to me that Mark and his employees are really experts in this field and go above and beyond to ensure that their customers are happy. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

This clock had been hanging broken on my 90-year-old mother's office wall for years. I brought the clock here from Michigan the last time I visited and took it in to Blackstone Manor. I was told it would be quite a bit of time before the repair was done and also was given an estimate for the repair and cleaning. While I was initially surprised at the cost, I quickly realized that the expense was warranted due to the amount of fine work required. We are talking about a master-craftsman here and not anyone can do this work. I told them there was no rush on the work and left the clock. A few months later they called, as promised, to let me know the clock was ready. I picked up the clock and in January, made a trip back to Michigan to bring the clock back to my mom. She was thrilled to have it working again. It looks great and sounds great and, best of all, makes her happy. I highly recommend Blackstone Manor Clock Repair. One step inside the door and you know you are in the workshop of a quality craftsman. They were friendly, honest and up front with both the time and cost of the repair. I couldn't be happier.

Blackstone's Grandfather Clock expert was on time and pleasant. He was also able to accommodate my need to have it repaired in four weeks as we wanted to transport the clock by van to Boston to give it to my daughter. I was, however, taken aback when he handed me the bill for $900, $200 of which was for picking up and delivering the clock parts and "preparing the clock for transport." It took him only a very few minutes to remove and replace the works. When we delivered the clock out East, we were extremely disappointed to discover that, after a few motions of the pendulum, it would not keep working nor would it chime. My husband spent the better part of 2 ½ hours off and on over the phone with Blackstone and was advised to try this and that and even remove the works. As nothing worked, we drove it back home and delivered the entire clock to Hopkins. Several weeks later it was in working order and we picked it up. No apology but no additional fee. We will now need to wait for our next vacation period to drive it out again.
Description of Work: He picked up and delivered the works of my Grandmother's Clock (smaller version of a Grandfather's Clock). He disassembled and cleaned the works and polished the pivots and replaced 20 bushings. He prepared it for transporting by stuffing bubble wrap in the top and bubble wrapping the pendulum and tying the weight chains.

[removed member name] I am very sorry you were not completely satisfied with my service. Itemizing the bill can certainly be explained. My normal house call charge is $150, this includes what ever can be done in the home. Since I was at your house two times it could have been $300. Since you live close to the shop and there was not a lot of work required in the home I did discount the normal charge. The high cost of the repair itself was due to the large number of bushings we needed to install. Our base charge for the overhaul of a clock like yours is $400, we then charge $15 per bushing, plus extra If there are other parts required. In your case there were no additional parts required. I thought this was explained before I took your clock. But I evidently overlooked this. The quick turn around was something we were able to do to help you meet your time frame. Your clock did run in the shop for 2 weeks which is normal in our attempt to eliminate futre problems for our customers as well as us. The fact that it could not be set up to run after the trip out east is unfortunate. As you did say I spoke with your husband in an attempt to identify the problem created during transporting. Beffore you take it back out east I will gladly come to your house and get it running again so you will have all the confidence in our serrvice. This obvviously will be at nor additional charge. I am sorry I was not at the shop when you came to pick the clock up. I was very much prepared to deliver it to your house and walk you and your husband thru setting the clock up succesfully. I do hope you will feel free to call me for this offer. Our service reputation on ANGIES List as well as all our other customers is VERY important to me. Mark

They did a wonderful job. They kept us updated on timeline for completion. They also did research on our clock and were able to provide us with some very interesting history on it.
