About a week before the installation, Jeff and Brad came over to walk us through exactly what would happen. The actual installation was a well-orchestrated event and was completed in one day. It was clear that the team had done a few of these before. We were worried about having holes drilled in our 78-year-old stucco, but Brad and Matt were very careful and precise. The lines in the basement are barely noticeable. The exterior lines are hidden with LineHide and just look like some additional downspouts. The installation couldn't have been better. We recommend this company without reservation. We are going to call them for boiler maintenance, too.
two of them. They were professional, personable, and completely up-front with what I was getting, what I did need, might want, and could do without. They demonstrated unwavering commitment to making sure I was satisfied with the job.
I chose AQS because their price was less than another highly-rated company. Their service was exceptional:1) they completed the job in the time they had estimated it would take, and left the basement cleaner than it was when they started; 2) after they left, I discovered that a hose to the new humidifier was leaking -- I called immediately and within an hour they had returned and fixed it; 3) that evening I discovered that I wasn't getting hot water out of my kitchen faucet - I called the next day and spoke w/ Jeff - he was a bit perplexed since nothing they had done should have affected the faucet, but he said he would go out and look into it. It turned out that TWO faucets weren't working properly -- due to sediment in the lines. They cleaned out one, and replaced the other --
without charging me for their time or labor. I am extremely pleased with my new furnace & humidifier (the heat is more "comfortable" than with my old furnace) and my faucets work better than before they came! I would highly recommend AQS - for the quality equipment and outstanding customer service.
They came and did the work within 2 weeks of the original estimate. They were punctual and professional. The linesets (lines to the individual units in each room) were done in a way that looks good on the side of the house - basically like downspouts - with a cover that worked on our house. The installation of the interior units look sharp. They took the time to show us how to use and maintain the units, and all the settings.
One of the workmen in the basement broke a lightbulb. He was very apologetic when I pointed it out, and they cleaned it up promptly. Overall they cleaned up after themselves very well.
We've been using the units for almost 3 months. We are very pleased with the performance of the units and the installation services. We highly recommend using AQS for ductless air conditioning systems in an older house.
took cover off to try to remove fan blade from motor and fan started spinning freely. I ask matt about the motor spinning freely and he states that its shot. Matt quotes me $99 for diagnosing and $489 to replace fan motor. Seemed very high but I authorized to go ahead. Matt puts in new fan motor and it looks twice the size of the original equipment. Says go ahead and turn unit on. I turn it on and hear this terrible hacking noise, he shuts it off quickly. Wrong motor, too big. Fan blade hitting parts. He states that this is for commercial use but should work. I said why can't you get the original equipment part?. He states that he can but they are junk, twice as expensive and don't last long. Well, seems the original one lasted 14 years!
I instructed him to put it all back together with exception of the fan motor, that I would try to source one and have them install it..he says ok.
I went into Dey appliance with original fan motor and told them AQS guy tells me this is frozen and needs to be replaced. He says no its perfectly fine, But replacement is only $165 for the part. So i take it back home try try to reconnect and notice other wires missing that AQS took off and didn't reinstall.
I called the owner Jeff of AQS and he gets pissy and says they are giving me my $99 back and don't ever call us again, that I accused installer of STEALING my parts. I Never accused anyone of stealing, but obviously they did take parts that weren't reinstalled. Jeff stated that he would send installer back with my parts and $99. He says go ahead and install your own parts.
I just don't understand why they were trying make some cheap aftermarket motor work that wasn't made for that unit.
what the customer doesn't know won't hurt em, right?.well I took the time to educate myself and found that they were trying to hoodwink me. Do your home work. Watch workers perform work, ask questions.
as im writng this the installer brings back a hand full of wires and nuts. I asked him where the wires plug in and he says "I don't know"
"Hello [member name removed]. Thank you for the review. Knowing you are a Contractor in Roofing and Remodeling, I know you know the value of any Angie's List review whether negative of positive.. We take these reviews seriously! We value your opinion on our services, but I am disappointed that you left out several facts to the Service Call you are referencing: On Monday around 2:00pm our tech arrives at your home and diagnosis the problem for your No Cooling call as a faulty condenser fan motor. You agreed to the Diagnosis/Trip charge of $99. My tech diagnosed the problem as a faulty condenser fan motor that was seized up. He showed you that the fan could run free again, but it would likely seize again when it would get overheated. When my tech presented you with replacing the fan motor for $445 you agreed to that charge and service. At 2:30pm you called me, as you we watching the tech with concerns on the pricing and that we didn't have correct "replacement" motor. (Sometimes we have universal motors on the truck for you condenser and we always welcome customers to watch our Service Tech, if desired for piece of mind) The fan motor on the truck was not the proper motor and I assured you the charge for that service call would be $99 and we would come back the next day with the proper motor for the $445. You were fine with this scenario.. At 3:15pm you called me again, stating that you could get the motor for $165 and asked if we could install the motor for you and questioned the difference in the pricing again. As a contractor yourself, you know the markups that are associated with any material presented to a customer including Labor, Parts, Overhead, Warranty, etc.. correct? I am sure you do the same in your business or maybe you just do the installation for labor only? (We have always charged a fair market price since 1996! At 8:15am on Tuesday, you called me from the supply house to accuse us that you were missing the capacitor from your AC, and you demanded we return to your home with the part? I stated that all parts were still at your residence and we did not take any parts. When you in-fact went home, you found the capacitor in the condenser as we promised. Fifteen minutes later, at 8:30am you called again accusing us of taking wires from the old fan motor and you demanded we return those wires as you were going to put back in the motor we extracted from your condenser, because you felt it would be fine. At this time I informed you that I was going to RETURN your check of the $99, because I felt no matter what we would say or do, we were not going to meet your satisfaction of the situation. My tech returned to your home in a timely basis and gave you some wires, so you could hook back up the old motor. I am sorry if you felt I was "pissy", but your accusations of taking parts and doing business the wrong way are not the way we do business as evidence from other Angie's List reviews! We always strive to satisfy all customers from Angie's List or any other referral source. I understand that you want to save money by putting the old motor back in the unit and I wish you the best of luck in keeping your AC running in the future. We value the learning experience you have provided our company!"
The installer arrived promptly on the designated day and was friendly and efficient. The resulting work looked very professional and the area was kept clean. Everything has been working great so far.
AQS took care of the necessary permits and filed all applicable rebates for us.
All in all, a great job - looking forward to using them in the future!
Jeff, on the sales end was professional and timely. He was patient and never pressured us to move forward. He even had a chance to push a more expensive unit but did what was best for us. He also put of with months of us waffling back and forth and e-mailing him with questions.
Upon installation the installer was on-time, friendly and efficient. He got the work done quickly and it looks fantastic. The before and after are drastic.
I couldn't be happier with AQS and thank them for making such a large purchase feel good.
