work was done, but I got billed for things that the tech did not even do. I did not get an invoice until almost 3 months after the entire project was completed and then trying to get an itemized invoice of the work that was "Actually done" has been impossible. multiple attempts by the general contractor to get information has resulted in no response from the company. no communication from the company in regards to this is horrible. They were brought in as a sub on my project but I would not hire them to do anymore work for me

I was a loyal customer of Air Quality Services for 5 years but I just can't do it anymore. They gouge you in every way possible. The last straw was my humidifier. They fixed it for $800, even though, as I later found out, a brand new one would've cost far less. Then...it broke again a month later. They wouldn't guarantee the work but were nice enough to offer to come out and fix it again for another $800. Needless to say I called another company and they installed a brand new humidifier for $650. I want to support small business but there are far too many other honest people out there that do better much better work and give much better service.

It was an hourly charge. Its whatever they charge by hour, and he also insulated the three units. It could have been $100, and it was well worth it. They came out right away, and discovered it. They did the insulation right away, and that wasn't the original request. The price was well worth it. It was very good. They came right away. There was just one man that came out.

Our house is a 1938 stucco Tudor with a boiler and radiators for heat, so we have been suffering with noisy window A/C units for years. We saw an article in Fine Homebuilding about the Mitsubishi ductless system and immediately went to Angie's List to find someone to talk to about this. We're so glad we found AQS. On the initial visit, Jeff actually brought an evaporator head with him so we could see and hear it. Because we knew the lines from the exterior condenser to the interior head had to run on the outside of the house, we thought we would have to have a north and a south unit. But Jeff told us that since we had an unfinished basement, they could install the condenser on the north side and then run lines through the basement to the south side.

About a week before the installation, Jeff and Brad came over to walk us through exactly what would happen. The actual installation was a well-orchestrated event and was completed in one day.  It was clear that the team had done a few of these before. We were worried about having holes drilled in our 78-year-old stucco, but Brad and Matt were very careful and precise. The lines in the basement are barely noticeable. The exterior lines are hidden with LineHide and just look like some additional downspouts. The installation couldn't have been better. We recommend this company without reservation.  We are going to call them for boiler maintenance, too.

I recently had work done by Air Quality Services (AQS), and couldn't be more pleased. This is small company owned & operated by three brothers. In the course of the work they did for me -- installing a new furnace & humidifier -- I interacted with
two of them. They were professional, personable, and completely up-front with what I was getting, what I did need, might want, and could do without. They demonstrated unwavering commitment to making sure I was satisfied with the job.
I chose AQS because their price was less than another highly-rated company. Their service was exceptional:1) they completed the job in the time they had estimated it would take, and left the basement cleaner than it was when they started; 2) after they left, I discovered that a hose to the new humidifier was leaking -- I called immediately and within an hour they had returned and fixed it; 3) that evening I discovered that I wasn't getting hot water out of my kitchen faucet - I called the next day and spoke w/ Jeff - he was a bit perplexed since nothing they had done should have affected the faucet, but he said he would go out and look into it.  It turned out that TWO faucets weren't working properly -- due to sediment in the lines. They cleaned out one, and replaced the other --
without charging me for their time or labor. I am extremely pleased with my new furnace & humidifier (the heat is more "comfortable" than with my old furnace) and my faucets work better than before they came!  I would highly recommend AQS - for the quality equipment and outstanding customer service.

The site survey and estimate were very thorough. We obtained two bids, and the other contractor also seemed very thorough but was more expensive. The original bid came in higher than our budget, but they were very willing to work with us to design a system within our budget. They considered our specific needs and the way we use our house, and recommended ways we could reduce cost without sacrificing on comfort (too much).
They came and did the work within 2 weeks of the original estimate. They were punctual and professional. The linesets (lines to the individual units in each room) were done in a way that looks good on the side of the house - basically like downspouts - with a cover that worked on our house. The installation of the interior units look sharp. They took the time to show us how to use and maintain the units, and all the settings.
One of the workmen in the basement broke a lightbulb. He was very apologetic when I pointed it out, and they cleaned it up promptly. Overall they cleaned up after themselves very well.
We've been using the units for almost 3 months. We are very pleased with the performance of the units and the installation services. We highly recommend using AQS for ductless air conditioning systems in an older house.

Matt took apart system to access fan motor. Stuck a pen through the fins to try to spin and didn't spin.
took cover off to try to remove fan blade from motor and fan started spinning freely. I ask matt about the motor spinning freely and he states that its shot. Matt quotes me $99 for diagnosing and $489 to replace fan motor. Seemed very high but I authorized to go ahead. Matt puts in new fan motor and it looks twice the size of the original equipment. Says go ahead and turn unit on. I turn it on and hear this terrible hacking noise, he shuts it off quickly. Wrong motor, too big. Fan blade hitting parts. He states that this is for commercial use but should work. I said why can't you get the original equipment part?. He states that he can but they are junk, twice as expensive and don't last long. Well, seems the original one lasted 14 years!
I instructed him to put it all back together with exception of the fan motor, that I would try to source one and have them install it..he says ok.
I went into Dey appliance with original fan motor and told them AQS guy tells me this is frozen and needs to be replaced. He says no its perfectly fine, But replacement is only $165 for the part. So i take it back home try try to reconnect and notice other wires missing that AQS took off and didn't reinstall.
I called the owner Jeff of AQS and he gets pissy and says they are giving me my $99 back and don't ever call us again, that I accused installer of STEALING my parts. I Never accused anyone of stealing, but obviously they did take parts that weren't reinstalled. Jeff stated that he would send installer back with my parts and $99. He says go ahead and install your own parts.
I just don't understand why they were trying make some cheap aftermarket motor work that wasn't made for that unit.
what the customer doesn't know won't hurt em, right?.well I took the time to educate myself and found that they were trying to hoodwink me. Do your home work. Watch workers perform work, ask questions.
as im writng this the installer brings back a hand full of wires and nuts. I asked him where the wires plug in and he says "I don't know"
Response from Air Quality Services Inc
"Hello [member name removed]. Thank you for the review. Knowing you are a Contractor in Roofing and Remodeling, I know you know the value of any Angie's List review whether negative of positive.. We take these reviews seriously! We value your opinion on our services, but I am disappointed that you left out several facts to the Service Call you are referencing: On Monday around 2:00pm our tech arrives at your home and diagnosis the problem for your No Cooling call as a faulty condenser fan motor. You agreed to the Diagnosis/Trip charge of $99. My tech diagnosed the problem as a faulty condenser fan motor that was seized up. He showed you that the fan could run free again, but it would likely seize again when it would get overheated. When my tech presented you with replacing the fan motor for $445 you agreed to that charge and service. At 2:30pm you called me, as you we watching the tech with concerns on the pricing and that we didn't have correct "replacement" motor. (Sometimes we have universal motors on the truck for you condenser and we always welcome customers to watch our Service Tech, if desired for piece of mind) The fan motor on the truck was not the proper motor and I assured you the charge for that service call would be $99 and we would come back the next day with the proper motor for the $445. You were fine with this scenario.. At 3:15pm you called me again, stating that you could get the motor for $165 and asked if we could install the motor for you and questioned the difference in the pricing again. As a contractor yourself, you know the markups that are associated with any material presented to a customer including Labor, Parts, Overhead, Warranty, etc.. correct? I am sure you do the same in your business or maybe you just do the installation for labor only? (We have always charged a fair market price since 1996! At 8:15am on Tuesday, you called me from the supply house to accuse us that you were missing the capacitor from your AC, and you demanded we return to your home with the part? I stated that all parts were still at your residence and we did not take any parts. When you in-fact went home, you found the capacitor in the condenser as we promised. Fifteen minutes later, at 8:30am you called again accusing us of taking wires from the old fan motor and you demanded we return those wires as you were going to put back in the motor we extracted from your condenser, because you felt it would be fine. At this time I informed you that I was going to RETURN your check of the $99, because I felt no matter what we would say or do, we were not going to meet your satisfaction of the situation. My tech returned to your home in a timely basis and gave you some wires, so you could hook back up the old motor. I am sorry if you felt I was "pissy", but your accusations of taking parts and doing business the wrong way are not the way we do business as evidence from other Angie's List reviews! We always strive to satisfy all customers from Angie's List or any other referral source. I understand that you want to save money by putting the old motor back in the unit and I wish you the best of luck in keeping your AC running in the future. We value the learning experience you have provided our company!"

This company is great!  While they were in my home they not only fixed what I asked them to fix, they looked at few other items on our HVAC system.  The best part is, the toilet on our main floor was not working, the chain fell off but when I went to put it on it would no longer reach.  I had no idea what would have caused that, so I pulled the back and left it off.  I came home after AQS was at our house, noticed the back was on the toilet and it was working.  I asked my wife if she fixed it and she said that is how she found it and assumed I fixed it.  Evidently, the AQS Tec noticed it was not working and took it upon himself to fix it.  I love it!  I also own a service company in the Twin Cites so I know they are a great company when their Team does something like that.

After receiving 4 quotes on replacing our aging system we decided on AQS due several reasons.  First, Jeff was a great, no-nonsense salesperson.  I didn't feel like I was just listening to a rehearsed sales pitch (unlike several other companies).  There was no pressure, no constant calls and he was very quick to respond to information requests.  Second, the price was very competitive compared to others for the same equipment and warranty.
The installer arrived promptly on the designated day and was friendly and efficient.  The resulting work looked very professional and the area was kept clean.  Everything has been working great so far.
AQS took care of the necessary permits and filed all applicable rebates for us.
All in all, a great job - looking forward to using them in the future!

It went great. I worked with 3 different HVAC companies and decided on AQS.
Jeff, on the sales end was professional and timely. He was patient and never pressured us to move forward. He even had a chance to push a more expensive unit but did what was best for us. He also put of with months of us waffling back and forth and e-mailing him with questions.
Upon installation the installer was on-time, friendly and efficient. He got the work done quickly and it looks fantastic. The before and after are drastic.
I couldn't be happier with AQS and thank them for making such a large purchase feel good.

We had a fantastic experience with this company from beginning to end.  They were the 3rd company we had out to provide a bid for a new furnace and air conditioner.  It was immediately clear that they were different from other HVAC companies.  They answered questions openly and honestly and I didn't feel any of the slick salesman pressure that we got from the other companies.  They provided a couple of different options and the prices were reasonable compared to the other bids we received.  When I questioned the size of the furnace they were proposing since other companies had proposed larger systems, they came out and measured to perform a load calculation for our house and provided it to me within a day (another company was only willing to provide a calculation for a similar house that was "close enough").  Communication was very easy throughout the process via email and we were impressed with the installation - on time and tidy.  AQS also took care of filing the rebates with Minnegasco and Xcel.  This is a small company and it definitely shows in the superior customer service they give their customers.  Every person we worked with was courteous and professional and we will definitely use them again for our HVAC needs.

From the outset, this company was very professional and helpful. The owner came to our home, measured to perform a load calculation, and recommended the properly-sized furnace and A/C, rather than just replacing with the same size as the existing units. He gave us several options of furnace and air conditioner combinations, explaining the pros and cons of each system very clearly and responding to questions very knowledgeably. The quoted price was very reasonable in comparison to several other quotes we got, and the units will give us an additional savings of $800 in rebates from XCel Energy. We felt no pressuring from the company to contract with them. After choosing AQS to do our installation, the date was set very quickly. The installation went very smoothly -- right on time, quick and clean. On inspecting the installation, the city inspector commented that he wished all inspections were so easy -- everything was done exactly right. We have now been through the below zero part of Minnesota winter with the new furnace, and our home has been extremely comfortable. Our experience with AQS was terrific from start to finish!

My AC quit in between hot spells. I called and they sent someone out within 24 hours. Didn't take long for the tech to determine that a "critter" had lodged itself in something that caused the unit to stop and replaced the part. It was quick, easy and I was up and running for the 90+ degrees that started the next day. AQS is my HVAC company of choice.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the work. It was done as agreed and in a timely, professional manner. The only minor issue was the location of the condensation drain lines (wish they were more out of the way) but I could/should have been more direct about where to put those. It doesn't detract from a positive experience.

Called AQS and asked for someone to come out to fix my AC that had stopped working in the fall.  They came on time, talked me through the needed part, was able to replace it then.  The guy who was at our house was very nice and professional.  They made it easy, fast and I was able to get back to work without missing a full day.
