Restaurant

We were new to the area and found Zen house on yelp or some other reviewers website that had 4 stars.  The sushi restaurant is probably more appropriate for the lunch crowd but I suppose this would be ok for a casual dining as well.  My husband and I love sushi and have experience in fine sushi dining.  Plus we were very hungry.  We ordered two appetizers: tempura battered green beans and mushrooms.  Both were excellent.  Plus we ordered the deluxe sashimi (12 pieces) and a number nine roll (Tempura shrimp inside with salmon, avocado with eel sauce outside...$11.95).  We were quite pleasantly surprised as the restaurant did not skimp on fish portions.  The fish tasted fresh.  The cuts of fish were quite large and thick.  We may have only ordered the appetizers and the sashimi had we known.  The number nine roll and appetizers were great as well.
The service was seat yourself.  The booths were a little cramped.  Service was immediate with water but napkins/ utensils/ chopsticks only came with the meal.  I only note this as we had a toddler with us and could have used the napkins more immediately.  The place was small.  The place looked clean as did the bathrooms. Service was fairly quick and the wait staff did come back to check on us once and near the end of our meal. The exterior looks sort of nondescript at it is located right next door to the gas station.  The ambiance is sort of a fast food feel to it.  Even in high heels and a dress I would still want to eat here.  They have great sushi (the cuts were fantastic) for great prices.  We probably over indulged!!
