Our home lacked three way switches, bathroom fans with automatic shut-off timers, and we need to fish out some electrical in the ceiling for new electrical. Dan can do it all!

Dan was very responsive, showed up on time, understood what we were wanting to do, and did an excellent job. He made great recommendations and we couldn't be happier with our new lighting.

Could not have been happier. We woke up in the morning and our heat was out. We noticed that the circuit breaker was making noises and quickly trip and turn off our heat. With a newborn in the house, we needed the heat turned back on quickly. We called on a Sunday morning hoping to get service sometime they day. Electric by design came out that morning and we had our heat back on before noon the same day! The work was done quickly and with a smile on his face. It was nice to get that kind of service, even during an after hours emergency. I will definitely use them in the future.

Dan and his wife arrived promptly at 8am. I showed him to my master bedroom and he installed a ceiling fan, taking care to layout a dropcloth over our bed and rug so it was nice and clean after he was done. He cleared placement with me before drilling any holes and the installation looked beautiful! The fan works great using the switch on the wall and the pull cords if we want just the fan with no light. Dan also snaked a new electrical line up from our garage fuse box to our kitchen sink - people in the 80s must not have believed in garbage disposals! Anyway, he did so quickly and neatly installed an outlet operated by a switch inside our cupboard. Finally, Dan did some troubleshooting on 3 failing/faulty outlets -- turned out the light fixture at the end of the line was faulty and a big fire hazard. He saved us big time! I would call Dan and his wife again in a heartbeat! He was at my house for just under 4 hours so the price was very reasonable! (included materials for the fan install, outlet and switch, and wire from the garage to kitchen)

I needed to have an unsafe electrical panel replaced. I also needed the ability to add more circuits in the future. I called Dan to arrange for him to come out and look at my project. He said he could be there the next afternoon, and he was there right when he said he would be. He looked at what I had, asked if I had an idea of what this should cost (which I did) and he gave me a rough verbal estimate that was right in line with my expectations. Later that evening, he emailed me an estimate in writing which was what he had quoted verbally.
I instantly felt that Dan was a very good listener. He listened to my concerns, answered my questions, and at no point did he try to BS me or sell me additional things I didn't need.
We agreed to move forward with the project. He asked my preferences in panel manufacturer and we settled on those details.
The next week or so, he came back to perform the work. It took about half a day. The job was done professionally and quickly, and he cleaned up after he was finished.
He advised me that our meter socket had signs of arcing on one of the lugs, and said that the meter didn't seat well when he re-installed it to energize the panel, and that I should consider having it replaced soon to avoid a dangerous situation.
A day or two later, we had some flickering on some of our circuits. It was a Saturday, and we were expecting a large number of guests for a birthday party. The situation was not good. I called Dan and he suspected it had to do with the meter socket. He came to our house within an hour of my call, and temporarily moved the affected breakers to the other leg of the panel, and advised that we should move forward with the meter socket replacement ASAP. He did not charge me for this service call.
He made the arrangements with Xcel Energy to come out and disconnect our power at the pole a few days later, and he replaced the meter socket. He made a point to show me the burnt terminal on the old socket. His fee for replacing the meter socket was about $150 lower than the price he had quoted me verbally, which was great. I would have been happy to pay the original price but he was good enough to do even better.
The breakers were then moved back to their proper location to balance the load in our panel.
The city inspector came out that same day (Dan had arranged this as well) and the entire project was approved. Xcel was back after the inspector signed off and re-energized the lines. No more flickering and I can now sleep better at night knowing we've got safe breakers in our home.
Dan is a very honest, prompt, friendly guy who is eager to please. I was able to pick his brain about some future upgrades and other concerns I had about our electrical system. He was more than happy to look at a few things and advise me on what things I could do on my own, and how to best do them. He also said he'd perform any of these on a time and materials basis if I needed his help.
I would absolutely recommend using Dan Leibel / Electric By Design.

It went well from the beginning to the end. He was prompt with his timing; called me before coming. Was quick with finding where the problem was. Fixed it rather fast and moved on to replacing the light fixture with a new one.

I found Dan on Craigs List in a frantic search for an electrician after our 1960's fusebox shot out sparks the day before we expected company for the 4th of July. Dan gave me an idea about what it would cost over the phone, came to the house and looked it over, went and bought what he needed, and had it replaced in several hours. He charged me what he said he would despite it taking a little more work than expected. I can't say enough about his professionalism. He has been employed as a Master electrician for over 25 years and recently decided to start his own company. He is licensed, bonded, and insured. He is very knowledgable, curteous, and earned my trust quickly. I learned he is also the father of 4 and a volunteer firefighter with Little Canada- a real stand-up guy. I know who I will call for all of my electrical needs in the future.
