"Thank you for the high remarks although I attempted to find detail about what we did for you in our QuickBooks and cannot locate your name or address. We keep records of this data for your convenience, in the event that you need a record of the service done in the form of a reprinted receipt. Are you certain this was for our company?"
The Good:
I had a laptop that wouldn't charge and it appeared to me the problem was a loose power socket on the laptop, which I assumed might have to be replaced. RB's diagnosed that the only problem was that the power brick had died.
The Bad:
They charged me a full hour's service fee for the 5 min diagnosis. There is a big sign on the wall that clearly states the one hour fee is the minimum charge. Were they within their rights to charge me almost $100 for a 5 min diagnosis? Absolutely. Do they have a repeat customer? Absolutely not.
"Thanks for your input [member name removed]. I looked up the invoice and you were charged the standard diagnostic fee posted of $59.00. In addition you purchased a replacement power adaptor from us for an additional $30.00. Therefore your total cost was $95.12 with tax which is reasonable since we took time to test your power adaptor and give you a diagnosis. We would hope that you understand it takes our technicians time and expertise to diagnose a problem correctly and arrive at a solution. Often times, the adaptor will provide a static floating voltage that looks ok initially, and once loaded down, it fails. We were able to tell that this adaptor needed to be replaced and that your laptop was fine saving you from an expensive disassembly procedure that others might have charged you. We feel this was a fair solution for the both of us. We would encourage you to come back and give us another chance."
