Hail damage:

New shingles

New gutters

New aluminum trim

Showed up promptly however when it came to needing gutters done, the production manager said he couldn't find the color we wanted. We wanted the same color so we wouldn't have to re-paint everything. I had to go on line and find the gutters myself in no less than ten minutes. He then ordered from that company.

When it came to replacing the hail damaged storm windows the production manager asked me again where he could get storms around here. I said that I would leave that up to him. I would think a 15 year old construction company would know where to get custom storms made. Really strange in my opinion.

The storms were supposed to be replaced end of October. They didn't get to them until mid December. No phone calls, text's or emails as to why the delays.

Construction started in June/July finished in December. We really felt that we were not getting prompt service from this company among the other issues such as inadequate communication as well.

Will never use Kiser Construction again.

Initial Consult - I met with Nathan, who sat down with me for over an hour to discuss the benefits and disadvantages of different products. I had met with many other companies, and he, by far, was the most detailed in his explanations. He discussed what his company was about and what kind of service they would provide. He didn’t try to oversell me on anything, or talk negatively about other companies. He was a positive consultant and not an overconfident salesman.
Planning – Nathan had a detailed estimate to me within a couple days, including the different cost options of certain siding, trim, and soffits. He also provided physical color samples of siding and caulking, and soffit, so we could make a better decision on the final colors, versus just picking them out of a brochure. Once decided, he met with my wife and me to discuss our choices regarding colors, type of siding, and any special looks we wanted to accomplish. We discussed a timeline of work, what to expect
from the crew, and payment, which was to be paid in full after the final inspection, no deposit needed. It was after all this that we committed and signed the contract.
Construction – Prior to construction, we were notified when the siding was ready for delivery, and we were asked when we wanted to begin. On day one of construction, my wife and I met with the crew, including managers and customer support, who took pictures of the house for before and after comparison. Every day of construction, the crew was on-time and ready to work. I walked around with them and reviewed their work (which was exceptional) and asked about daily tasks. They were friendly and energetic. I
was informed regularly of the progress that was made.
Completion – Work was completed, for the most part, on schedule. There was a little delay on receiving the second shipment of
siding. When the work was completed, we did a final inspection and noted only a couple spots that needed to be touched-up with paint and one piece of siding that was pulled out slightly when the finishing crew reattached a vent cover. They were out the next day to correct those issues. We received a phone call a few weeks after checking to see it we had noticed anything else, which we hadn’t, but we’re glad to know they would be out in a moment’s notice if we had.
Overall Experience – We were extremely happy we decided to have Kiser Construction, Inc. complete this major home improvement. Our house went from the worst looking house on the block to the best! Our neighbor said he had been waiting for 20 years for the previous owners to do this, and he can’t stop commenting on the professional look and the “wow factor, which I agree. I would definitely hire them again, and would recommend them to others. I felt they were professional, knowledgeable, and provided great communication. ~ Tate and Renae, Plymouth, MN

Response time was quick. Work was completed within two weeks.
Only thing I didn't like was that they sent us a bill before the work was done. I understand getting a downpayment on large work orders is normal, but for such a small repair job, this was not good practice.

I had an insurance claim on my home, I was referred to Kiser Construction by my neighbor who also had work done. Kiser Construction made sure that my insurance company was taking care of me, as they performed the work on my home. My home had to have gutters replaced, windows throughout my home replaced, soffit, fascia, and my complete siding replaced. Work was done in a timely fashion, the jobsite was cleaned up each and everyday and when the job was all done my yard and home were clean and tidy. When they came inside my home to do the windows they made sure that they removed their shoes or had floor protection down so as not to damage my carpets and floors. The whole process went extremely smoothly and the insurance portion was a breeze since Kiser Construction was making sure they were doing as they were supposed to and taking care of me.
I will absolutely use Kiser Construction in the future, and tell all my friends to use them as well.

I originally met with a gentleman from this company that gave me an estimate and completed the work, in which I was not happy with. He then was not returning any of my phone calls and I later found out that he was no longer working for the company.

I then spoke with the Vice President and he came out with a different team or workers. He was willing to commit to the work his company performed and I was very happy with the results. I was also happy with the repairs and the corrections. My previous report I left was a reflection of the old contractor, not a reflection on the whole company and again I was very pleased with the final outcome.

I filed a claim on my house to have the roof repaired from hail damage. The insurance company would replace one slope of my house and the whole garage. I had other roofing companies come out and provide a bid but they dropped the ball and did not follow through on completing the job. Now, I was concerned about the time frame I had to complete this job and I was worried and wondering if anyone would do it for the price the insurance company was providing. A friend of mine at work gave me Scott Monsenrud's phone number and I called. He was with Kiser Construction. He was prompt in returning my call. He came out to my house very soon after our conversation and appraised my roof. He found multiple signs of hail damage the insurance company had overlooked. Scott took pictures and told me that I was legally entitled to a second appraisal. Scott had the insurance company out again (much to their dismay) to confirm Scott's findings. Scott then called me back to tell me that not only am I able to have the entire roof done but I had windows damaged as well and they were covering 8 of my 16 windows. The roofers had the job completed in one day even in the snow and cold weather. Darren, the roofing foreman, was very kind in letting me know what was going to happen and when. Even the roofers were kind. They cleaned up around the house so no roof or nails were laying around and the dumpster was in my driveway for only two days. I was so pleased I can’t even tell you what a great experience it was. The windows were completed shortly after the roof was completed. Scott called me and explained they would be installed the next day and I didn’t even have to be home. They did exactly that. First the nightmare of finding a company to do the work was over for me AND I had the work done in a timely manner AND I was able to have 8 windows repaired I had not expected! They exceeded my expectations tremendously! I’m a single gal with teenagers and they all treated me with great kindness and professionalism and I appreciated that! I can’t thank you enough Kiser! Most of the details are already covered in my previous entry. I felt very confident throughout the entire process that my interests were foremost and the concern was for the highest quality and best work performed. I would also like to add that the process was stress free for me, as Kiser handled everything! Lisa, Scott, and Rick handled all of the insurance details, and the rest of the team pitched in and worked tirelessly and with positive attitudes to ensure the work exceeded my expectations!

Horrific. DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR A RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS HORRIFIC EXCUSE OF A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! I would gladly share my nightmare I lived working with this terrible company with anyone reading this for I wish someone would have done exactly this for me. If this still does not rightfully scare you away into another companies capable hands then just call my cell at 612-414-5547 and I will change your mind. Thanks

1. Home owner interviewed about 6 construction companies. 2. Narrowed down to two construction companies. 3. Kiser came in our home with all contractors who would do all jobs in the remodel. 4. All contractors bid their jobs in full. NO extra costs incurred to home owner if there was no changes. 5. Entire job was quoted 6 weeks. 6. Kiser awarded job. 7. Construction started within a few days after contract was reviewed and signed. 8. Contractors for sound started to aproach homeoner on sound jobs and central vac to increase money to be spent. (No changes by home owner) Contractor claimed the orignal price didn't include product for the size of the house. (remember the contractor did a walk through) 9. Same contractor aproached home owner on at least 4 ocasions to increase costs over his job quote saying quoted product was not suficient. 10 Granite provider changed costs after quoted price. Increased costs based on their mistake. Kiser passed costs to home owner. 11. construction contractor lied about product, tried to increased costs when none where incurred, lied to homeowner on several acassions. Lied to homeowner about product so not to change his work schedule. Homeowner went to lumber yard to find all product was in stock and costs was substanially less, if there was costt alll. Another contractor that ripped off the homeowner. 12. Contractors refused to or did substandard work in repairs of their own work. 13. $3000 slate floor was put in with hugely uneven tiles. You would have tripped and fell. Three experts inspected tile. They found floor substandard wiht poor instilation and substandard grout. Kiser claimed is was "just fine". Homewoner refused to pay for substandard flooring. Kiser then demanded monies before any fix would be done. 14. Several small things broken or not finished. kiser refused to finish without addtional costs to owner. 16. Job took from may to septeber to fix. Quoted 6 weeks. It is very very sad. This company has a face that draws you in with confidence that they will do well. They will take advantage of all situaitons for their benefit, their profit. They claim the customer is important. If it is true, it is only up to a certain cost. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE HOMEOWNER. BEWARE!!!!!! CALL ME FOR DETAILS. RICK 612 669 1243
Response from KISER CONSTRUCTION
"Thank you for taking the time to read our response. My name is Nathan France and I am the President of Kiser Construction, Inc. in Elk River Minnesota. Kiser Construction has completed over 17,000 projects big and small since 2003 and this is the first complaint with Angie's List we have ever had. I know, in looking into the project, that there were issues that can happen on any construction project. In fact the homeowner asked for a large discount at the end which Kiser provided. Kiser did not provide any deck or porch, though to this home. Our total project was $92,988.16, which is actually under the quoted price. To date all of our work has been completed to the homeowners satisfaction and the discounts were taken by the homeowner. I think based off of our reputation and integrity in Minnesota that there is more to this then what is being stated. As the President of Kiser Construction, Inc. my personal cell is (763) 286-9241 and my email is [email protected]. Please check us out through the State of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry under License # and other organizations or on our website at www.kiserrenovations.com"

Called Rick for an estimate. He was accommodating for meeting and went over all my questions and had good ideas to meet our needs. He also was quick to return phone calls for additional questions as well as setting up the install appointment. he crew came out when scheduled and let me know that they would be coming back to finish up one item. They returned within a week to finish up the job. My only (slightly) negative comment would be I had to pick up some debris in the lawn and rocks. Overall, what impressed me was the number of options I could consider for product and Rick's ability to listen to our needs and find the right solution.

After an unexpected storm pounded our house, we needed help quick smart. Kiser Construction represented us with our insurance company (who wanted to screw us). Nathan and Levi calmly helped the insurance man understand that we needed to repair ALL the damage the storm caused. Kiser Constuction acted quickly and confidently. Honesty and Integrity was exposed through this entire job. This entire Kiser Constuction crew deserves the TEAM award. The entire crew was conscientious, curtious, and quick. The finished product is better then the original!!!!! Thanks Kiser!!!!!!!!!

NATHAN FRANCE WAS VERY RESPONSIVE, RETURNED PHONE CALLS PROMPTLY. WE WERE KEPT INFORMED OF THE WORK CREW'S SCHEDULE. THE WORK CREW WAS ON-SITE EARLY MORNING AND WORKED UNTIL LATE AFTERNOON. NOT SURE HOW TO RATE PRICE. THE PRICE WAS LOWER THAN OTHER BIDS, SO I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
