The Clock Doc spent quite a bit of time with me describing what needed to be done. He was a little bit busy because of the article in the paper, but the clock was ready in about 5 weeks.
When I returned to pick it up he gave me all kinds of information about the clock's origins and how to operate it including how to wind it, how to make sure it was properly leveled (by listening to the rhythm of the pendulum) and how to set the time (always forward with the minute hand, pausing to allow the chime to strike). He even told me how to safely transport it home.
The clock is working great--keeping accurate time and we have found that we like the sound of the chimes on the hour and half hour..
He told me the clock needed to be oiled every two years (the pendulum swings about 84 million times per year) and that there were 24 spots to oil in my clock. I'll be taking the clock back to him for that service!
