It was wonderful. They chipped out the cracks and holes in the stucco siding. Put in new lath and then re-stuccoed and it matches the old stucco extremely well. After we get it painted I don't think we'll be able to see the difference. They put tape and plastic everywhere and cleaned up the debris, even blew the dust off the sidewalk. It cost a little more than they bid, but that's expected in doing repair on an old house. You don't know how much needs to be removed until you start and see what's loose. The extra cost was less than I guessed it would be, based on the time spent.

It went great, each crew from the demo to the repair explained everything they were going to do and did it expertly. They inadvertently left a downspout laying on the roof and when I called they came out immediately. Great company to work with.

Terrible-I'm ****** off. Stephen Donnelly Stucco tried to cut corners, until I caught him. The workers were nor removing the foundation rock away from the South wall where the stucco was damaged. I had to spend 4 hours removing the rock that should have been remove by Stephen Donnelly Stucco. Needless to say, I should have fired them at that point, however, being the middle of Summer, and the damaged stucco removed, I had to continue on with them(mistake). At the end of the project, to my dismay, the stucco does not match(not even close) to the existing stucco. I had Steve come out to look at the stucco color, and he said it was a "Masterpiece", and would not do anything to satisfy our concerns. I called another professional(40 years experience) to look at my house and give me his opinion as to what needed to be done to match the stucco. He said the texture was just OK and that the color of the patch was not even close and that I would have to have the house re-dashed or painted so that the color would be uniform(Thousands of dollars more). Steve's crew also damaged my new galvanized drain pipe by screwing new holes instead of using the existing hole. Steve said he went above industry standards to satisfy us(BS). His idea of industry standards are-The customer is always wrong, don't satisfy your customer so that they may refer you to another person, and cut corners and not do a professional job. My advice to anyone hiring a contractor-NEVER pay any money until you are satisfied with the end product. I feel that I was scammed. BEWARE!!!
Response from Stephen Donnelly Company Inc
"On August 15th, 2017 we had an industry expert, familiar working with tints and portland cement stucco, call and leave voicemail for homeowner's son, in hopes of scheduling an onsite meeting that next Thursday or Friday afternoon to discuss in person their concerns. homeowner's son, called the experts office back and scheduled for Thursday August 17th, 2017 at 12:30pm.At the home, on August 17th and 12:30pm, present were ******* *********, ***** *********, **** ***** (expert), and Steve Donnelly, President of Stephen Donnelly Company. Our goal was to satisfy customer's concerns. The meeting lasted approximately one hour, during which **** shared the normal process of stucco patching, matching and expectations. It became obvious quickly that the customer wasn't interested in hearing anything other than harsh criticism of our work. homeowner and homeowner's son went back and forth sharing their years of experience with crooked cement contractors and roofers. He spoke of a recently settled dispute with his last roofing contractor, calling them idiots and using profanity, stating he could roof better than they did. Homeowner's resorted to physical posturing towards Mr. Donnelly, which is when Mr. Donnelly decided to leave the meeting and property. We've done work for this customer in the past, approximately 4 years ago. Which until this issue, we filed away under another successful finished project. During a recent call to our office ******* stated that they were unhappy with that job as well. On June 8th, the day of the finish coat being applied Mr. ********* signed and approved a color and texture form, and during the process of applying, complimented our journeyman applicator, James, numerous times for his work. We feel we've went beyond reasonable trying to satisfy this customer's concerns. We have completed this job, above industry standards and expectations, and are still waiting for final payment to us. We removed rock approximately 6 inches below grade. Owner wanted all dirt around the house removed a few feet down. Anything past where we went was not included in our contract and is not of the type of work we have done in over 35 years. Rebuilding walls below grade (which will be covered by a few feet of dirt) is a completely different project than applying new stucco to a wall. The owner removing the rock was his choice, we were happy to stucco lower than necessary as he had already cleared the path for us but the stucco's purpose (over an issue-free cement wall) is visual appearance stuccoing this low served no purpose but to satisfy the homeowner. We went far above industry standards to satisfy this homeowner. The homeowner did not pay any money for this job. After thousands of dollars in work done we were the ones that were scammed by the homeowner."

Steve himself came personally to estimate the work. Invoice received was exactly the original estimate although a bit more damage was repaired. Four crews completed this work and all arrived when expected. Stucco texture matches existing stucco perfectly. Only one caution - if a garden flanks your work area, remove the mulch layer and protect your plants.

He matched the rest of my house, which was very critical, by doing it the way he did it and he cleaned up all the mess he made as well.

We replaced the windows on the gabled ends of our stucco home. The installer (Beissel) who had replaced the original windows had put the drip cap on backwards and water rotted out the window frames & parts of the wall. Scott Hanson Construction was recommended by Steve Donnelly to install the new replacement windows & Scott did a fantastic job.
When the stucco had to be repaired, due to the extent of rotted wall that had to be torn out, it was a much bigger job than Steve had originally quoted--which had us squirming a bit after spending so much on new windows.  Steve worked with us to figure out the best way to approach the stucco repair, and we decided that instead of trying to match the patched stucco to the existing color over such a large area it would be better to re-skim coat the entire house. The pricing was very reasonable too.
Steve's crew was prompt and courteous--they did a fabulous job and our house looks so nice. Cleanup afterward was impeccable. Thanks to Steve for his expertise and a job beautifully done.

There were a few time when communication was an issue but, we also aren't sure if that was our contractor's fault, not Donnelly.  The finished product looks great and 98% of their workers were great to work with.

From start to finish they did an excellent job. The crew that did the brown coat and finish and texture coats was wonderful and did a great job matching the house color and texture onto the garage which is important when the building worked on is attached. Had used this company before on new construction as well. Would definitely use again.

Steve came out and gave  a good assessment of the damage and the quality repair he would apply to it.  The original work was extremely shoddy.  His workers came out, spoke to me in detail about what they were about to do and accomplished the job beautifully.  It is the best the outer foundation look of the house has ever been.  They cleaned up after themselves.  i might add that there were some places pretty  hard to access but they did it.

Great experience. They were very responsive and helpful. Most of the time when I called the office, I spoke to Stephen Donnelly directly. He was very hands-on and responsive. He had a great crew of people that were very efficient and cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly. Donnelly came in a little more than the other contractors, but I feel the expense was well worth it. They did an impeccable job.

I was very happy with how everything turned out. I think they did a wonderful job. Each worker did a great job keeping on task and getting the job done correctly. I was surprised it could be done. I thought they really offered a valued price. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

They also put in extra things that weren't in the original agreement. They added lights on the house along with brand new shutters. They went above what they were here to do.

We went with Stephen's company because they used their own guys and their price was right not to mention their reputation was stellar in the stucco business. They showed up as promised and started with the repair work around the door and the big crack underneath where we lacked kick-out flashing. None of us knew the extent of the damage so we originally thought the cost was going to be half of what we paid but once the stucco was removed we realized underneath one of the corners where there should have been kick-out flashing the damage extended around the corner which meant we'd have to refinish an additional 230 sq ft. Each step in the process from the repair work to patching to refinishing the top coat went quickly and smoothly and all the guys were professional, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again--tho, with the price of stucco i hope I never have the need to.

The project went very well. From the very beginning, Stephen Donnelly was extremely helpful and informative. He was very willing to work around some unique factors, including my installing some new windows and window trim as part of the overall work effort. He had a very competitive price and was up-front about all the costs. He stripped off the old material, then waited until I finished my work before coming back to start applying the new stucco. He was willing to purchase and install Styrofoam insulation on the exterior prior to installing the metal lath and the rest of the stucco. (Not a normal part of re-stuccoing a house). Even though we were running out of fall weather, he got the first two coats applied before winter set in. Even though I half expected to be looking at the scaffolding all winter, they removed the scaffolding and cleaned up before leaving for the winter. Then this spring, they came back and applied the finish coat. I am extremely happy with their work.
