It was wonderful. They chipped out the cracks and holes in the stucco siding. Put in new lath and then re-stuccoed and it matches the old stucco extremely well. After we get it painted I don't think we'll be able to see the difference. They put tape and plastic everywhere and cleaned up the debris, even blew the dust off the sidewalk. It cost a little more than they bid, but that's expected in doing repair on an old house. You don't know how much needs to be removed until you start and see what's loose. The extra cost was less than I guessed it would be, based on the time spent.

It went great, each crew from the demo to the repair explained everything they were going to do and did it expertly. They inadvertently left a downspout laying on the roof and when I called they came out immediately. Great company to work with.

Terrible-I'm ****** off. Stephen Donnelly Stucco tried to cut corners, until I caught him. The workers were nor removing the foundation rock away from the South wall where the stucco was damaged. I had to spend 4 hours removing the rock that should have been remove by Stephen Donnelly Stucco. Needless to say, I should have fired them at that point, however, being the middle of Summer, and the damaged stucco removed, I had to continue on with them(mistake). At the end of the project, to my dismay, the stucco does not match(not even close) to the existing stucco. I had Steve come out to look at the stucco color, and he said it was a "Masterpiece", and would not do anything to satisfy our concerns. I called another professional(40 years experience) to look at my house and give me his opinion as to what needed to be done to match the stucco. He said the texture was just OK and that the color of the patch was not even close and that I would have to have the house re-dashed or painted so that the color would be uniform(Thousands of dollars more). Steve's crew also damaged my new galvanized drain pipe by screwing new holes instead of using the existing hole. Steve said he went above industry standards to satisfy us(BS). His idea of industry standards are-The customer is always wrong, don't satisfy your customer so that they may refer you to another person, and cut corners and not do a professional job. My advice to anyone hiring a contractor-NEVER pay any money until you are satisfied with the end product. I feel that I was scammed. BEWARE!!!
Response from Stephen Donnelly Company Inc
"On August 15th, 2017 we had an industry expert, familiar working with tints and portland cement stucco, call and leave voicemail for homeowner's son, in hopes of scheduling an onsite meeting that next Thursday or Friday afternoon to discuss in person their concerns. homeowner's son, called the experts office back and scheduled for Thursday August 17th, 2017 at 12:30pm.At the home, on August 17th and 12:30pm, present were ******* *********, ***** *********, **** ***** (expert), and Steve Donnelly, President of Stephen Donnelly Company. Our goal was to satisfy customer's concerns. The meeting lasted approximately one hour, during which **** shared the normal process of stucco patching, matching and expectations. It became obvious quickly that the customer wasn't interested in hearing anything other than harsh criticism of our work. homeowner and homeowner's son went back and forth sharing their years of experience with crooked cement contractors and roofers. He spoke of a recently settled dispute with his last roofing contractor, calling them idiots and using profanity, stating he could roof better than they did. Homeowner's resorted to physical posturing towards Mr. Donnelly, which is when Mr. Donnelly decided to leave the meeting and property. We've done work for this customer in the past, approximately 4 years ago. Which until this issue, we filed away under another successful finished project. During a recent call to our office ******* stated that they were unhappy with that job as well. On June 8th, the day of the finish coat being applied Mr. ********* signed and approved a color and texture form, and during the process of applying, complimented our journeyman applicator, James, numerous times for his work. We feel we've went beyond reasonable trying to satisfy this customer's concerns. We have completed this job, above industry standards and expectations, and are still waiting for final payment to us. We removed rock approximately 6 inches below grade. Owner wanted all dirt around the house removed a few feet down. Anything past where we went was not included in our contract and is not of the type of work we have done in over 35 years. Rebuilding walls below grade (which will be covered by a few feet of dirt) is a completely different project than applying new stucco to a wall. The owner removing the rock was his choice, we were happy to stucco lower than necessary as he had already cleared the path for us but the stucco's purpose (over an issue-free cement wall) is visual appearance stuccoing this low served no purpose but to satisfy the homeowner. We went far above industry standards to satisfy this homeowner. The homeowner did not pay any money for this job. After thousands of dollars in work done we were the ones that were scammed by the homeowner."

Steve himself came personally to estimate the work. Invoice received was exactly the original estimate although a bit more damage was repaired. Four crews completed this work and all arrived when expected. Stucco texture matches existing stucco perfectly. Only one caution - if a garden flanks your work area, remove the mulch layer and protect your plants.
