About us
Home For A Change offers interior design services in Naples, Fl. (including surrounding areas) and Minneapolis/St. Paul. We are a full design service with many options for you to choose from, depending on your project! New construction, remodels, kitchen and bath design and design consultations that offer "inspiration" for you to follow on your own, also shopping service, furniture, window treatments, accessories and wall and floor finishes. Give me a call if you are looking for carpet, hardwood, tile or kitchen remodel. I will allow you access to my "wholesale members only" store (many locations throughout Florida and Minnesota). If you schedule a design consultation, a complementary design service is included for help with selecting your finishes at my flooring store. Are you moving from Minnesota to Florida or thinking of becoming a "snowbird"? I can help you on both sides, starting with your current home. This service is a consultation that would help you with colors, fabrics, furniture and accessories. We could then evaluate your new place in Florida and use what you have if necessary! On the Florida side, help with paint colors, furniture and accessory shopping or helping to place your existing furniture or any other help you need to create your "home in paradise"!

I’ve worked with Susan on several houses. She has an eagle eye for color, style and arranging a home. I appreciate she has good contacts at stores where we shop. Susan is efficient and watches the price. She’s the best and I’ve recommended her to many people. She is a true professional!

Suzanne was fabulous! She did the interior design for my home and my Naples Florida vacation rental. I love my new spaces! She kept my budget well in hand. Sue was prompt in answering my request for help and we soon worked out a meeting. She has a good program to get you started in the initial consultation and you can take it from there on your own or continue on working with her for help. In the few hours of my first meeting she showed great ideas that saved me thousands of $$ literally in the first meeting by doing one thing versus a total remodel. From there we met for furniture and accessory shopping and then a meeting for her to come back and put things together. Have had many compliments on her work at our home and I am very happy with the results! Thank you Sue!

My husband and I moved into a modern condo building and were baffled as to how to furnish our large open floor plan with huge windows and high ceilings. My neighbor recommended her interior designer, Sue Hunter. I loved how my neighbor's home was decorated. Sue is amazing. Sue came to our home and in ONE hour, put together an entire plan for us that included a complete palette of colors, size ranges for each piece of furniture she recommended, rug sizes and an accent wall paint color. Then we went shopping! She chose pieces I wouldn’t have thought to pick and when they arrived—they were perfect. Sue returned and arranged by etagere, wall hangings and accessories. I highly recommend her. Our home looks fabulous! I did not post photos because of Covid, a few of our pieces have not arrived.

I wanted to do an entire home remodel, and I don’t have concept of color and/or flow. Sue was referred to me by a Realtor friend. Sue was one of 3 that I interviewed. Our first meeting was understanding my vision, picking out colors, talking about flow, etc. The next was picking out flooring, tiles, paint, hardware, etc, then we shopped for furniture. Sue developed the vision/template, my contractor brought it to life. I love the end product. I’ve referred to others who are also seeking a change

We have used Sue's design and shopping services many times and have referred her to several friends. Sue does a great job, she's very responsive and easy to work with. She will take your personal style and design around that, helping you to feel comfortable with your style in your space. Sue also helps you save money where you can, and you can shop from a design that Sue creates for you or she will shop with you. It's the best of all worlds!

We hired Sue for a basement remodel and couldn't be happier. Sue helped us choose the color palette, materials, furniture, and all the decor. She did a great job understanding our style and budget and flexing around that. Sue's pricing structure is incredibly approachable; during the basement remodel she also did a "spacelift" throughout the rest of our house so we got even more value! I have worked with Sue for almost 15 years on several interior design projects. Her eye for color is amazing... always spot on! She is fun and creative, sometimes encouraging me to make dramatic changes I would not have done on my own. The finished product always results in wonderful compliments from my guests. Our lake home project (one of my favorites) presented sizable challenges with multiple additions added throughout the years. Sue was not intimidated by it. We have been very happy with how things turned out. My husband is happy with the house (and the price) and so are our daughters with how their bedrooms look! Sue did an incredible job designing our new kitchen island that seats 7 people, as well as a pub like tin ceiling to match our existing cherry wood cupboards. Sue is a pleasure to shop with and work with. She makes it easy and fun!

We moved into a new house that was completely different from our old one. We needed a lot of help with furniture arrangement and decorating so I called Sue. She contacted me right away and was here to consult the next day. Sue is great at what she does and has helped us every step of the way. She helped us buy furniture, pick out carpet, and choose paint colors. She came with me shopping and we picked out rugs and accessories. Then after our furniture arrived she put everything in place. Our house now looks amazing! We do not have an eye for design and Sue makes every step stress free!

Sue was really amazing. She came to our home on a Saturday morning and helped us think through color and design for our entire main level, two upstairs bathrooms and our master bedroom. Sue has that professional designer eye that we all crave and by the time our meeting was through, we had a book full of color schemes and ideas for each remodeled room. Sue was so careful and thoughtful. We met Sue a week later at two furniture stores. With Sue's guidance, we had all of the furniture for our family room, kitchen and dining room selected in one day. We are so thrilled with our selections and it would have taken us months if we were on our own. We couldn't be more satisfied.

Wonderful! I especially appreciated how she went shopping with me and helped me find things according to a color scheme she put together in a booklet for me on her first visit. Sue was very efficient shopping and we ended up buying decorations/furniture from 4 different stores. This was really helpful because I felt like I didn't have to pay top dollar for everything and still have it look beautiful. After shopping, she came on a different date and placed things so it all came together. I have learned a lot from her about how to shop for decorations for our home...and I still have a list of little things I can keep looking for. But for now, we all love the completely new look to our home!

Sue is AMAZING!!! After spending a few minutes talking about my style and what I was looking for, she helped me pick out a color scheme and theme for every room in the house. She drew out exactly what the sofas, chairs, and tables should look like, what color it should be, and where it should be placed. She prepared a package with color samples to help me shop for furniture which I tried to do on my own but it proved to be more difficult than I thought. I called Sue back to help me shop since she doesn't charge an extra fee for shopping. She went back with me to the same store and was able to help me find most of my furniture and kept it in my budget. She had very good insight about what's outdated, overdone trends, and she has a great eye for what colors go great together. I would highly recommend her if you need help with interior designing!

Beginning in late 2015, I remodeled the entire lower level of my home which included a complete kitchen replacement. I met with a few interior designers before I found one I was comfortable with in Sue Hunter. Every designer I met with previously was very determined to remove a particular wall that happened to be a structural support wall of my 2 story home, and a few seemed to think good design was to cram as many cabinets as possible into the space available. Thankfully, I found Sue on Angie's list. I felt removing the support wall was overkill for my home. It is a 1969 2 story. Sue and I agreed to work with the home's architecture and not try to make it something it wasn't, although we did take out one non-essential wall.
Sue took the time to listen to my thoughts and to look at the ideas I had collected to get a sense of my sense of style. Then we worked collaboratively through her sketches and email exchanges with photos and ideas. She guided me away from some ideas, and but still let my style come through.
Next we worked with ProSource to draft specific kitchen designs. We also selected samples of materials and ultimately selected cabinets, counter top, flooring, etc. She continued to check in through the construction which took about 6 - 8 weeks. After construction was complete and the flooring and counter tops were in, Sue assisted me with color selection for paints. She and I also shopped online for lighting fixtures.
A few weeks later Sue met me at HOM Furniture (one of a few stores she has a relationship with) to select furnishings. The process went very quickly and very smoothly and only took about 2 hours. Again she let my style come through. Some things she vetoed and some things I vetoed. But I ultimately got the look I wanted.
Finally a few weeks after the furniture was in, I met Sue at Home Goods for an accessory shopping trip. This was a very helpful service as well. Unfortunately, I'm still hanging much of the pictures, art work, and shelving so it's not complete in the photos.
I did not pay Sue directly for much of her work as she was paid a commission from ProSource where I purchased the cabinets, counter tops, and flooring. She also was paid by commission for the furniture I purchased at HOM. I only paid Sue directly for her time in helping me selected accessories, which was an hourly rate.
I am very pleased with the final remodeling results and I was very pleased with the experience of working with Sue Hunter. She worked with me and didn't completely dictate her design. She did her job and did often save me from myself, by telling me directly that some of my ideas were not very good ideas. I'm glad she did. I don't do design for a living and she does. I am a working mom on a toddler with another one on the way and I have no sense of design. I found Sue through her Angie's list recommendations.
Sue and I had a few missed connections at the beginning, mostly due to vacations and a death in her family. It was a minor inconvenience and Sue was very apologetic. When we did connect and got time scheduled, I really enjoyed Sue's insight and feedback. I was surprised that she was able to come up with things I would like without much direction at all. I felt very comfortable letting her know where I drew the line (animal prints) and what I loved. She came up with some very creative ideas for our layout, including a design for our living room that I had never considered that I LOVE. I also REALLY appreciated the fact that she didn't send me to the most expensive furniture stores, etc. which is one of the things I feared when hiring a designer. In many cases, she suggested IKEA. We have since had the painting finished and I love the colors. I can't wait to see the finished product. I have been carrying the design book around with me constantly for reference and have been telling all my friends about how pleased I have been with the experience. When we get a little farther in the process, I will surely call Sue to help me shop.

.I have a showroom in my home for my business. Several years ago I had a decorator who was top rated by Angie's list stop by and help me choose flooring and wall colors for a remodel. I was too busy to do the remodeling until last fall so I thought I would get a second opinion. I contacted Sue and she arrived promptly. While the first decorator made choices that looked good to me Sue was able to see the big picture and come up with choices that worked much better . She pointed out that the carpet sample was too busy and would take attention from displays on the wall and didn't look good next to the flooring in the adjacent hall. Some ideas seemed a bit "bold" to me but as I had the painter and flooring installer implement her suggestions it became clear that her years of experience were going to help me wind up with a better look than I ever could have imagined! Although she has definite opinions she is relaxed and easy to work with and generous with her time when asking questions after the visit. I can't imagine a better experience and would highly recommend her.

I couldn't be happier with the results as my house is updated and doesn't feel as disjointed. I still have a few rooms yet to complete, and will continue to consult with Sue as I pull it all together.
